To study on antioxidant effects in the liver of 40-week-old mouse, the sample were orally pretreated 5mg/kg/day for 5 days with red ginseng saponin components(total saponin, protopanaxadiol saponin, protopanaxatriol saponin, ginsenoside-Rd, ginsenoside-Re, compound-K) for 5 days. The ability of saponin to protect the mouse liver from oxidative damage was examined by determining the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione peroxidase(GPx) and the contents of glutathione, the level of malondialdehyde. The only protopanaxadiol among the ginseng saponin fractions was significantly increased the hepatic SOD activity(p<0.01). The red ginseng saponin induced a slight increase of GPx activity, especially ginsenoside Rd, compound K and protopanaxatriol treatments significantly increased its activity. The content of glutathione was significantly increased by total saponin, protopanaxadiol and ginsenoside Rd(p<0.01), but the oxidized glutathione level was lowered in all the red ginseng saponin. Finally, the level of malondialdehyde was significantly decreased by ginsenoside Rd and protopanaxadiol. In conclusion, protopanaxadiol and ginsenoside Rd among the saponin fraction were especially increased in the activity of hepatic antioxidative enzyme and decreased the lipid peroxidation that was expressed in term of MDA formation. This comprehensive antioxidant effects of red ginseng saponin seems to be by a certain action of saponin other than a direct antioxidant action.

Lavandula vera is indispensable member of the herb family, used for perfumes and potpourri. Androgens have profound effects on the physiology of the sebaceous gland. Sebum is secreted due to the effect of androgen, which starts to be secreted at puberty. Using the human sebocyte cell line SZ95, the author investigated the inhibitory effect of Lavandula vera on the lipid production. Light microscopic finding were examined numerous cytoplasmic lipid droplets SZ95 cells by Oil red staining and lipid droplets were increased markedly by testosterone. On the other hand, combined treatment with Lavandula vera and testosterone resulted in a lower lipid droplets than with testosterone alone in a dose-dependent manner. These findings indicate that Lavandula vera acts antagonistically to testosterone and inhibits the lipid synthesis of SZ95 cells at the cellular level.
Assessment of Radiation Dose from Radioactive Wedge Filters during High-Energy X-Ray Therapy

This paper evaluated the amount of radiation generated by wedge filters during radiation therapy using a high-energy linear accelerator, and the dose to the worker during wedge replacement. After 10-MV photon beam was irradiated with wedge filter, the wedge was removed from the linear accelerator, and the dose rate and energy spectrum were measured. The initial measurement was approximately 1 uSv/h, and the radiation level was reduced to 0.3 uSv/h after 6 min. The effective half-life derived from the dose rate measurement was approximately 3.5 min, and the influence of AI-28 was about 53%. From the energy spectrum measurements, a peak of 1,799 keV was measured for AI-28, while the peak for Co-58 was not measured in the control room. The peaks for Au-106 and Cd-105 were found only measurement was done without wedge removement from the linear accelerator. The additional doses received by the radiation worker during wedge replacement were estimated to be 0.08-0.4 mSv per year.

Delignification with alkaline-H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> (AHP) under atmospheric pressure was investigated for effective use of low-value lignocellulosic biomass. Three different lignocellulosic biomass were used for this study, namely, Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) as softwood, Hyun aspen (Populus alba x glandulosa) as hardwood, and bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) as grass. The delignification conditions were pH 11.5, liquor ratio 12.5, max. H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> concentration 10%, max. temperature 100℃, and max. time 24 h. For Japanese cedar, the delignification was less than 30% even under the most severe delignification conditions. For Hyun aspen, delignification was more than twice than that of Japanese cedar under the same conditions. However, over 60% delignification was difficult for Hyun aspen. Bamboo was easily delignified and reached about 80% delignification under similar conditions as Japanese cedar and Hyun aspen. The differences in AHP delignification were thought to be largely dependent on structural differences in lignin of each species and the proportion of the lignin condensed units. Consequently, it was found that AHP delignification under atmospheric pressure was more suitable for the delignification of bamboo, a non-wood biomass.

본 연구의 목적은 특수보육교사의 직무스트레스의 수준 및 사회ᆞ인구학적 변인에 따른 직무스트레스 차이를 밝힘으로써 특수보육교사에 대한 관심과 근무환경의 개선을 위한 대책 마련을 제고하는 기초자료를 제공하는데 있다. 본 연구의 연구문제 검증 결과에 의해 도출된 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 특수보육교사의 직무스트레스 수준은 보통 이상으로 높게 나타났고 아동관련 스트레스와 교육활동 관련 스트레스에서 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 사회ᆞ인구학적 변인에 따른 특수보육교사의 직무스트레스는 시설유형, 결혼유무, 연령, 학력, 교직경력에 따라 차이가 나타났다. 즉, 법인 보육시설, 장애아 전담어린이집, 미혼, 25세 미만, 4년제 대학 졸업 학력, 1년 미만의 교직경력을 가진 조건에서 직무스트레스가 높다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구 결과를 통해 향후 보육관련 정책과 연계한 보육서비스의 질적 향상을 위해서 특수 보육교사의 직무스트레스를 최소화하는 대책이 강구되어야 할 것이다.
Control of a novel PV tracking system considering the shadow influence

In this paper a novel tracking system is described, regarding the influence of shadow between arrays, aimed at improving the efficiency of PV tracking system. Comparing with a building site versus capacity power, domestic solar powers have a limited setting. Therefore, each array interferes with the shadow of other arrays. The loss by influence of those shadows can be compensated for by means of control algorithm of the tracking device. The paper suggests a method controlling an altitude for length which is received the shadow influence of PV array. By using an azimuth of current solar position and the length between arrays, the controller of tracking device is able to calculate the length between actual arrays and make a comparison of the shadow length at a specific time with the length between arrays. When the shadow length is longer than the length between arrays, the controller of tracking device can adjust a position by compensating error altitude of the length between arrays at an altitude of current solar position. In the paper, we develop the control algorithm able to minimize the loss caused by the influence of shadow on the PV tracking system, and compared this with conventional output system. The controller has been tested in the laboratory with proposed algorithm and shows excellent performance.
