        '活血化瘀'의 동서의학적 이해

        At once Medicine of East and West have the same purpose in treating, but there is a difference between the method of medical care and the view/slant on a disease each other. And so it is very important to understand Oriental medicine and Western counterpart, in addition it is meaningful to understand the terminology of Oriental medicine from the slant of Western Medicine. The conception of the Activation of Blood and the Elimination of Blood Stasis (活血化瘀) from Western medical standpoint is rather hard to explain. But It can be explained to clear such abnormal matter in blood as blood depletion of the blood to quicken the blood, but it is widely known to us this conception is too complicated to explain. Accordingly I would like to begin with a survey of Blood-quickening stasis dispelling, a prescription of the herbal formulas in Oriental midical view, and help aim at enlarging the range of our knowledge via theoretical explanation how to make understand it in the viewpoint of Western medicine.

      • 草鳥中毒에 關한 綠豆의 解毒效果

        This study was carried out to elucidate the effectiveness of Testa mungo counteracting the poisonous effect of Aconiti Radix and difference in effectiveness between Testa mungo extract and Testa mungo juice. First, Lethal dose 50 of Aconiti Radix for mouse, since then, the difference in effectiveness between Testa mungo extract and Testa mungo juice was observed. Mice were pretreated by dosing half LD 50 of Aconiti Radix in oral administration for histological examination for 7 days and the damage of liver was induced. Among 1 group dosed with Testa mungo extract, Ⅱ group dosed with Testa mungo juice and control group, the difference of counteracting effects of the toxicity of Aconiti Radix were observed histologically. The results were as follows : 1. Lethal dose 50 of Aconiti Radix was 49.8㎎/20g. (confidence limits ; 22.7∼86.2㎎/20g) 2. The counteracting effects for the toxicity of Aconiti Radix LD 50 were seen above 13.3 ㎎/20g in group dosed with Testa mungo extract and above 0.4cc/20g in group dosed with Testa mungo juice. 3. In the histological exainination, the counteracting effects of Testa mungo for the toxicity of Aconiti Radix was seen from 3 days on the liver-damaged mice by the result of being pretreated with Aconiti Radix extract for 7 days. 4. Testa mungo juice was more effective than Teata mungo extract in the counteracting effects for the toxicity of Aconiti Radix.

        In order to study on the effect of Volume of gastric juice, free aciditym and order to srudy on the effect of Volume of gastric juice, free acidity, and total acidity, Jeungmi-Leegin-Tang decoction were administered to the pylorus-ligated rats. The results were follows ; 1. The effect upon volume of gastric juice of experimenting group with medicine in contrast with control group, there was decreasing that it revealed significant value. 2. The effect upon free acidity and total acidity of experimenting group with medicine in contrast with control group, there was decreasing that it revealed significant value . It is concluded that the Jeungmi-Leegin-Tang seems to effective against gastric hyperacidity and gastric ulcer.

        멜라닌 合成의 信號傳達機轉에 미치는 西施玉容散의 效果

        Melanocytes are specialized cells located at the basal layer of the epidermis that synthesize and transfer melanin pigments to surrounding keratinocytes leading thereby to a uniform skin pigmentation. There are three melanocyte-specific enzymes, tyrosinase, tyrosinase-related protein 1 (TRP1), tyrosinase-related protein 2 (TRP2). Syntheses of melanin start from the conversion of the amino acid then the oxidations of L-dopa yield dopaquinone by the enzyme tyrosinase. Syntheses of melanin start from the conversion of the amino acid then the oxidations of L-dopa yield dopaquinone by the enzyme tyrosinase. Dopaquinone is converted to a relatively unstable intermediate, dopachrome, which successively undergoes to yield 5,6-dihydroxyindole. It leads to the formation of melanin polymer. Tyrosinase is a key enzyme in melanogenesis. The melanogenic effects of α-melanocyte stimulating hormone(MSH) can be mimicked by cAMP-elevating agents such as forskolin, cholera toxin, and isobuthylmethyxanthine. Recently many efforts were focused to understand the mechanical insights of melanogenesis to develop the therapeutic agents for hyper- and hypo-pigmentation. This study is designed to evaluate the efficiencies of Seosiokyoungsan(SOS), which had been used against face skin disease as pimple & freckles for many decades. Seosiokyoungsan markedly suppressed the increase of α -MSH(10nM)-induced melanogenesis as well as tyrosinase activity. α -MSH significantly increased the phosphotransferase activity of c-Jun N-terminal kinase1 (JNK1) which was returned to control level by pretreatment of Seosiokyoungsan. In addition, pretreated Seosiokyoungsan profoundly inhibited the ability of the nuclear proteins from B16 melanoma cells to bind with activated protein-1 (AP-1) nucleotide binding consensus sequences. These results indicate that Seosiokyoungsan inhibits α -MSH induced melanogenesis of B16 melanoma cells via suppression of phosphotransferase activity of JNK1 and transcriptional activation of AP-1.       • Lipopolysaccharide(LPS)가 Lymphokine 생산에 미치는 影響에 관한 연구

        In order to evaluate the effects of LPS on the lymphokine production, the change of the levels of IL-2, γIFN and IL-4 meassured in splenocytes of C3H/HeN mice treated with E.coli LPS, S.abortus equi LPS and heated LPS. The results were as follows; 1. The splenocytes isolated from LPS-injected mice produce greatly reduced levels of the T-cell lymphodine IL-2 and γIFN following activation in vitro with the polyclonal T-cell stimulant anti-CD3 and the production of IL-4 elevated in comparison to normal cotrols. 2. The levels of IL-2 and γIFN in the mice were treated with 5μg-LPS for 3 days elevated and IL-4 reduced continuously from one day later and the levels of 3 kinds lymphokine recovered to a normal value 13 days later. 3. The levels of IL-2 and γIFN in the mice were treated with 5μg-LPS for consecutive 2 weeks reduced and IL-4 elevated greatly at 3 days and the levels of 3 kinds lymphokine recovered to normal value 2 weeks later. 4. In the mice were treated with E.coli LPS and S.aboruts equi LPS, the change of the levels of IL-2, γIFN and IL-4 were not difference between E.coli LPS injected group and S.atortus equi infected group. 5. In the mice were treated with normal LPS and heated LPS, the change of the levels of IL-2, γIFN and IL-4 were not difference between normal LPS injected group and heated LPS injected group.

        傷寒論의 六經槪念에 對하여

        It is well known that Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases (219 A.D., Thang Thongjing) is one of the oldest and most authoritative books in Oriental Medicine, suggesting the concept of exogenous febrile and six channels as a theoretical basis of clinical experience and prescription. But, since Thang Thongjing had written the book, the numberous medical practitioners and theorists asserted their various and different views on the concept of exogenous febrile and its six channels. The precise definition of these problem is very controversial up to now. Then, it is thought that the inquiry into these problems is significant to understand exactly the content of it and enhance its value in clinical medicine.

        釣鉤藤 煎湯液이 家兎의 前庭眼球反射에 미치는 影響

        To study the effects of Ramulus rhyncophylla water extract on the vestibuloocular reflex(VOR) evoked by sinusoidal rotation of the whole body, this experiment was carried out in 25 unanesthetized rabbits(1.8-3.0kg). Sinusoidal rotation of the whole body was provided by sinusoidal rotator which was composed of DC servo-motor and rotated at range of ±250 and frequency of 0.1Hz (peak velocity, 157 o/s), 0.2Hz (peak velocity, 314 o/s), 0.3 Hz (peak velocity, 337 o/s). Eye movement was measured by means of electronystagmograph during sinusoidal rotation in the darkness. The effect of Ramulus rhyncophylla water on the VOR was observed in proportion to the dose of its extract. The results were as follows: 1. Eye response always appeared by rotatory stimulation and that was nystagmus composed of slow component and fast component. 2. In normal VOR, the frequency and velocity of nystagmus were proportioned to the velocity of rotatory stimulus. 3. Controdictory effect was appeared by different dose of Ramulus rhyncophylla water extract, which showed that the administration of 0.025 and 0.05g/kg decreased frequency and velocity of nystagmus and 0.1g/kg increased frequency and velocity. These results may suggest that Ramulus rhyncophylla water extract has a contradictory effect by different does on the VOR and effects the VOR via other central nervous system except the simple pathway.
