        Research on the Relationship between Internal Control and Financial Performance of Listed Companies: Regulatory Effect Based on Institutional Investors

        Purpose Internal control is an important factor to improve the level of corporate governance. High-quality internal control can effectively improve the operating efficiency of the company, ensure the company s operation is legal, assets are safe, financial reports and related information are true and complete, and promote the company to achieve its development strategy. This paper takes the five elements of internal control as effective evaluation content of internal control and studies the relationship between internal control and corporate financial performance. The external governance factor of the company, institutional investors, is used as a moderating variable to explore the influence of institutional investor on the relationship between internal control and financial performance, with a view to finding effective ways to improve the company’s operations and achieve sustainable development. Design/Methodology/Approach Based on the data of Chinese listed companies from 2010 to 2019, this paper studies the relationship among internal control, institutional investors and corporate financial performance by taking internal control as independent variable, corporate financial performance as dependent variable and institutional investors as moderating variable. The evaluation data of the independent variable internal control in this study was provided by DIBO Company Risk Management Technology Co., Ltd. The data of the dependent variable corporate financial performance, the moderating variable institutional investors shareholding ratio, and the control variables Company size and asset liability ratio are obtained from GUOTAI AN database and supplemented by annual reports of listed companies s, etc. For data processing, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and regression analysis are carried out by using data statistical analysis software. Findings This study confirms that the internal control evaluation index is significantly and positively correlated with the corporate financial performance, and the shareholding of institutional investors is also significantly and positively correlated with the corporate financial performance, but the shareholding of institutional investors significantly reduces the promotion effect of internal control on the corporate financial performance. Research Implications This paper selects reasonable internal control evaluation indexes, puts forward theoretical hypotheses on the relationship between internal control, institutional investors and corporate financial performance, and constructs an empirical model for data testing and analysis. According to the empirical analysis conclusions, this paper puts forward relevant countermeasures to optimize corporate financial performance from the perspectives of internal control and institutional investors.

        Boundary layer effect of light transmission through ionic liquid under electric field

        The field strength distribution in the ionic liquid boundary layer under the action of an external electric field is non-uniform. Whether its transmittance (absorption coefficient) spatially varies arouses our interest in exploring the underlying laws. In this paper, with the help of an infrared microscope, a special experimental device was designed and established. The transmittance in the ionic liquid (methyl propyl imidazole iodide, C3MImI) at different distances from the electrodes (cathode, anode) was measured under electric voltages from 0 V to 0.5 V. Results showed that transmittances of ionic liquid at the boundary layer present nonlinear change with the nonlinear electronic strength under the different applied voltage, and there is a critical threshold (0.2 V) distinguishes the sensitive and non-sensitive responses to the electric field. Our study provides a physical basis for microscale electro-optic regulation and is significant, especially for precise regulation of light field transmittance in micro-nano channels/structures.

        Integrated analysis of DNA methylome and transcriptome reveals SFRP1 and LIPG as potential drivers of ovarian cancer metastasis

        Objective: More than 75% of ovarian cancer patients are diagnosed at advanced stages and die of tumor cell metastasis. This study aimed to identify new epigenetic and transcriptomic alterations associated with ovarian cancer metastasis. Methods: Two cell sublines with low- and high-metastasis potentials were derived from the ovarian cancer cell line A2780. Genome-wide DNA methylome and transcriptome profiling were carried out in these two sublines by Reduced Representation Bisulfite Sequencing and RNA-seq technologies. Cell-based assays were conducted to support the clinical findings. Results: There are distinct DNA methylation and gene expression patterns between the two cell sublines with low- and high-metastasis potentials. Integrated analysis identified 33 methylation-induced genes potentially involved in ovarian cancer metastasis. The DNA methylation patterns of two of them (i.e., SFRP1 and LIPG) were further validated in human specimens, indicating that they were hypermethylated and downregulated in peritoneal metastatic ovarian carcinoma compared to primary ovarian carcinoma. Patients with lower SFRP1 and LIPG expression tend to have a worse prognosis. Functionally, knockdown of SFRP1 and LIPG promoted cell growth and migration, whereas their overexpression resulted in the opposite effects. In particular, knockdown of SFRP1 could phosphorylate GSK3β and increase β-catenin expression, leading to deregulated activation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Conclusion: Many systemic and important epigenetic and transcriptomic alterations occur in the progression of ovarian cancer. In particular, epigenetic silencing of SFRP1 and LIPG is a potential driver event in ovarian cancer metastasis. They can be used as prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for ovarian cancer patients.

        Genome Sequencing Highlights the Plant Cell Wall Degrading Capacity of Edible Mushroom Stropharia rugosoannulata

        The basidiomycetous edible mushroom Stropharia rugosoannulata has excellent nutrition, medicine, bioremediation, and biocontrol properties. S. rugosoannulata has been widely and easily cultivated using agricultural by-products showing strong lignocellulose degradation capacity. However, the unavailable high-quality genome information has hindered the research on gene function and molecular breeding of S. rugosoannulata. This study provided a high-quality genome assembly and annotation from S. rugosoannulata monokaryotic strain QGU27 based on combined Illumina-Nanopore data. The genome size was about 47.97 Mb and consisted of 20 scaffolds, with an N50 of 3.73 Mb and a GC content of 47.9%. The repetitive sequences accounted for 17.41% of the genome, mostly long terminal repeats (LTRs). A total of 15,726 coding gene sequences were putatively identified with the BUSCO score of 98.7%. There are 142 genes encoding plant cell wall degrading enzymes (PCWDEs) in the genome, and 52, 39, 30, 11, 8, and 2 genes related to lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin, chitin, and cutin degradation, respectively. Comparative genomic analysis revealed that S. rugosoannulata is superior in utilizing aldehyde-containing lignins and is possible to utilize algae during the cultivation.

        Development of EST-SSRs from the ark shell (Scapharca broughtonii) transcriptome and their application in genetic analysis of four populations

        Background The ark shell (Scapharca broughtonii) is one of the most economically important mollusks in the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea of China. In recent years, ark shells from the Korean population were introduced to China for seed propagation and culture. Objective To explore the impact of the introduction of Korean ark shell on the genetic diversity of native population in China. Methods Simple sequence repeat (SSR) is efective and widely used tool for genetic analysis. In this study, 180 EST-SSRs were selected and verifed by polymerase chain reaction and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Subsequently, fve polymorphic EST-SSRs were screened and their primers were modifed by fuorescein for use in the genetic analysis of four populations. Results Genetic analysis showed that 361 alleles amplifed by fve SSR loci were detected in the four populations. The number of alleles for the fve SSRs ranged from 8 to 30, with a mean of 18.05 (standard deviation, SD=6.492). The efective number of alleles varied from 2.253 to 22.222, with a mean of 10.596 (SD=4.713). Observed heterozygosity and expected heterozygosity were 0.167–0.833 and 0.566–0.971, with average values of 0.520 (SD=0.177) and 0.891 (SD =0.062), respectively. Polymorphic information content ranged from 0.521 to 0.953, with a mean of 0.865 (SD=0.070). The pairwise genetic diferentiation coefcient (FST) of the four populations ranged from 0.0267 to 0.0477, showing low genetic diferentiation. The phylogenetic tree constructed by neighbor-joining method showed that the genetic distance between the Chinese Dalian native population and three Korean populations was relatively more far than that among those Korean populations. Conclusion The results indicated that the genetic structure of the Dalian wild population was less afected by the introduced Korean wild populations.

        A New Theoretical Equation to Estimate Poisson’s Ratio for Coated Bi-axial Warp Knitted Fabrics under Bias Tensile Loading

        Tensile tests of seven bias angles with a 15 o increment with respect to the warp direction are conducted on a typical coated bi-axial warp knitted fabric (BWKF). By utilizing the Digital Image Correlation technique, the experimental results are processed, and detailed responses of strain contours and Poisson’s ratios are determined for some specific strain levels, and an extraordinary M-shaped relationship between Poisson’s ratio and bias angle is revealed. Then, the tested Poisson’s ratios are compared with corresponding theoretical predictions from the original theory for ordinary anisotropic materials, discrepancies and their possible causes are analyzed. Finally, the original theory used for Poisson’s ratio predication of ordinary anisotropic materials is modified for application to the BWKFs by considering the unique local valley at 45 o caused by structural differences and possible yarn movements. The modified theoretical equation could exhibit the Mshaped relationship between Poisson’s ratio and bias angle, and is validated due to the high similarity between the predictions and experimental results. This investigation could provide some new insights into the orientation-dependence, Poisson’s effect and complex deformation mechanism of BWKFs.

        Numerical investigation of cavitation-vortex interaction in a mixed-flow waterjet pump

        Turbulent cavitating flows in a mixed-flow waterjet pump were numerically investigated using the k-w SST turbulence model and themass transfer cavitation model based on the Rayleigh-Plesset equation to provide a comprehensive understanding of the cavitation-vortexinteraction mechanism. The predicted hydraulic performance, as well as the cavitation performance, exhibits a reasonable agreement withthe experimental results. The vorticity distributions under three operation conditions were illustrated together. Based on the illustration,cavitation development enhances vorticity production and flow unsteadiness in a mixed-flow waterjet pump. Vortices are basically locatedat the cavity interface, particularly at the downstream interface, during cavitation. Further analyses using the relative vorticity transportequation in cavitating turbulent flows indicate that vortex dilation and baroclinic torque exhibit a steep jump as cavitation occurs. Inaddition, vortex stretching contributes mainly to large-scale vortex generation.
