        In order to screen the new β-lactam antibiotics for clinical use. we were compared MIC values of various β-lactam antibiotics. We also tested the influence of pH, inoculum size, stability of antibiotics in medium and some kinds of media on MIC value. As a result, cefotaxime, cefoperazone, piperacillin, cefamandole, cephaloridine, cephapirin, cefazolin, cephalothin, cephaioylycn were scored in antimicrobial activity of MIC data.

        도로 노면의 형상과 강우의 임계 지속시간을 고려한 적정 우수 유출량 산정 및 영향분석

        When calculating the storm runoff from road surface, it is recommendable to introduce the critical duration of rainfall by means of the RUNOFF (SWMM) model, or the Rational method with the travel time values of the kinematic wave' or Kerby's equation modified by multiplying the correction factor of 2.3 or 1.1, respectively. But the travel time of 5-10 minutes suggested in the Guide Manual for Sewer Design is too long to use for calculating road surface runoff. The peak runoff rate increases as the road sectional slope increases, whereas it shows the opposite results for an increase in the longitudinal slope. Also, the effects of the width and length of the road on the surface runoff rates increases greatly, as their values increase.

      • 섬유상 담체 종류에 따른 생물학적 오수처리 비교연구

        This study was performed to investigate the treatability of sewage from department store by attached growth biological treatment method using several fibrous media such as Supermodule made of polyvinylidine chloride and acry fiber(FBC), ringlace made of polyvinylidine chloride(HBC) and polypropylene(PP). The pilot plant was set up in the field of K department store and four consecutive aerated reactors were packed with each media and maintained in the condition of hydraulic retention time 12 hours. Experimental results showed that the effluent BOD concentration was stable even though the influent concentration was largely fluctuated in the range of 300~900㎎/L. BOD removal efficiencies in HBC, PP and FBC systems were 90%, 87% and 94%, respectively. The influent BOD was mainly removed in the first, second and third reactors and the removal rate in the fourth reactor was the lowest due to the low concentration and low influent load. The concentration of biomass attached to fibrous media was the highest in the FBC system compared with HBC and PP systems. Total concentration of volatile solids in the FBC system was 5,900 ㎎/L which was high compared with the other media systems. The production ratios of waste sludge were 9.2, 8.45 and 7.3 gDS/㎥ of influent sewage in HBC, PP and FBC systems, respectively.

        소금 농도와 삭힘 시간에 따른 깻잎 장아찌의 전처리 조건의 최적화

        Jangachi(salted and fermented vegetable) has been made by Korean traditionally using several kinds of vegetables, which is a good source of variety of nutrients and vitamins. There are many methods for making Jangachi. Generally soy sauce Jangachi is made through two steps. First, as a pretreatment, vegetables are soaked in salt water. Second, soaked vegetables are fermented in various ingredients like soy sauce, sugar, garlic, ginger and so on. This study was performed to observe changes in contents of chemical components and sensory evaluation of pretreated perilla leaf. Perilla leaf was soaked in water with different levels of salt concentration(2, 5 and 8 %) and soaking time(1, 3 and 5 days). The optimal level of salt and soaking time was determined with the results of sensory evaluation by response surface methodology and analysis of composition. The moisture contents decreased as the levels of salt and soaking time increased. The moisture content of untreated sample was 87.5 % and when soaked for 5 days in the water of 8 % salt concentration, it became 78.27 %. pH of Perilla leaf was high in high levels of salt concentration and short soaking time. Total acidity was so opposite to pH that was low in high levels of salt concentration and short soaking time. In the water of 8 % salt concentration, total acidity was 0.14 when soaked for 1 day, 0.20 % for 3 days and 0.30 % for 5 days. Salt contents became greater as the soaking time increased. As the results of puncture test, soaked Perilla leaf's toughness increased as the levels of salt increased and soaking time decreased. Among the sensory attributes, greenness increased as the levels of salt concentration increased when soaked for more than 3 days. Saltiness and bitterness became greater as the levels of salt concentration increased. Perilla flavor decreased with the short soaking time. Off-flavor increased with the increased levels of soaking time and decreased salt concentration when soaked for more than 3 days. Toughness decreased as the levels of soaking time increased. Crispness increased with the increased levels of salt concentration. The condition of pretreated Perilla was optimum when it soaked for 42 hours in 4 % salt concentration.

      • 복합 운동프로그램이 초등학생의 신체구성, 혈중지질 및 체력에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of the present study was to examine the effects of combined training on the changes of body composition, blood lipid profile and fitness in elementary school students. Thirty subjects participated in the present study. The subjects were divided into two groups either exercise group for 10weeks(15n) or control group for 10weeks(l5n) The results were described as follows; 1) There were significant differences in the body weight and lean body mass after the exercise program between two groups. 2) There were no significant differences in the blood TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, TG concentration after the exercise program between two groups. 3) There were significant differences in the sit-up and flexibility after the exercise group between two groups. In conclusion, it might be thought that the combined training improved the levels of body composition and health-related fitness in elementary subjects.

        노인시설을 위한 효율적 프로그램으로서의 원예활동 효과검증 : 관찰법에 의한 평가

        Therapetuic horticulture activities provide an ideal opportunity for engaging care participants with dementia that can be modified to suit a wide range of cognitive and functional abilities. As the results, therapeutic horticulture activities provide appropriate levels of stimulation, serve rehabilitation, new skill development and accomplishment with horticultural success. This study was conducted to validate the benefits of therapetuic horticulture activities as effective program of institutional care for elederly people, Three hypothesis was set up based on the charactieristics of elderly people and these hypothesis was verified by the observational method. Especially, non-horticulture activities(music, art, craft...) was observed to distinguish the effectiveness of horticulture activities. As the result of this study, the portion of time spent doing nothing during the horticulture activities was lower than during non-horticulture activities, the portion of participants engaged in their time during the horticulture activity engaged in horticulture behavior was greater than was spent in productive behavior during non-horticulture activities. However, the average levels of affect revelaed no differeces in affect between the horticultural and non-horticultural activities.

        악골에 발생한 악성 섬유성조직구종 2례

        Malignant fibrous histiocytoma rarely occurs in the jaws. Although the histogenesis of this tumor remains controversal, it is best regarded as a primitive and pleomorphic nature reflected by collagen production and occasional phagocytosis. It is common for metastatic foci to appear in lung and regional lymph node. There are variable treatments such as radiotherapy, surgical excision or combination, therapy of surgical excision, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. With the review of literatures, the authors report the clinical study of two cases of malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the jaw.

        기관내 삽관이 어려웠던 폐동맥 sling을 동반한 기관협착 환아1예

        Pulmonary arterial sling, a rare developmental vascular anomaly forms a sling around the distal trachea and the proximal right main bronchus, where it sometimes makes tracheo-bronchial stenosis. Tracheo-bronchial stenosis from pulmonary arterial sling may produce non-specific symptoms of stridor, noisy breathing, dyspnea, recurrent upper respiratory tract infection, chronic cough, and dysphagia. The diagnosis of this anomaly begins with a high index of suspicion because of the lack of pathognomonic finding on usual evaluation. In this case, initial difficult intubation makes us evaluate further. Other cases reported the diagnosis is established by imaging studies, usually MRI and angiography. But, when our case was evaluated, we used cervico-thoracic enhanced computered tomography and tracheal fluoroscopy. Up to now, tracheobronchial stenosis from vascular anomaly is a rare and challenging disorder with a poor prognosis. However, early exact diagnosis would make us perform the accurate surgical treatment and reduce the mortality and morbidity.

        오리부산물과 한약재를 이용한 추출액의 영양성분 및 중금속 노출에 대한 피해 완화 효과 : (Ⅱ) 중금속 노출에 대한 오리추출액의 피해 완화 효과 (Ⅱ) Damage Mitigation Effects on Heavy-metals Exposure of Peking-Duck By-Product Extracts

        This study was performed to investigate the effects of peking-duck extracts added with medicinal herbs(DJ) on the intoxication of heavy metals (Hg, Pb, Cd, As) in rats. Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 150±15g, were randomly assigned to 5 groups: basal diet only in normal control group(NCG); basal diet and heavy metals without DJ injection in heavy metal control group(HMC); basal diet, heavy metals and DJ(3㎎/㎖) injection in heavy metal low duck juice group(HMLD), basal diet, heavy metals and DJ(30㎎/㎖) injection in heavy metal middle duck juice group(HMMlD); basal diet, heavy metal and DJ(300㎎/㎖) injection in heavy metal high duck juice group(HMHD). Hg and As was injected by 50ppm and Cd and Pb by 25ppm for 17days. Also DJ oral feeding was conducted for 28days. The result of this study were as follows: Food intake and body weight gain in heavy metal administered groups were lower than those of NCG. Liver, kidney and testis weights were not significantly different among 5 groups. GOT, GPT and BUN activities were significantly reduced in DJ treated groups as compared to HMC. DJ showed the suppressing effect on the accumulation of Hg, Pb and Cd in serum, liver and kidney. Fecal Hg and Cd excretions increased with DJ feeding. The results suggested that DJ may have some protective effects on Hg, Cd and Pb intoxication by reducing the accumulation m tissues and increasing excretion. This study also showed the effective way of using duck-extract and its application to the oriental medicine.

        국내산 무화과를 이용한 와인 제조 및 품질 개선 효과

        Fig(Ficus carica L.) which belongs to Moraceae family has been used as digestion promoter, cure for ulcerative inflammation and eruption in Korea. Figs have very short preservation period and can be kept only 1 week even in the refrigeration system. The possibility of wine-making from Korean figs was tested by analyzing the fermentation characteristics, proximate analysis and free sugar contents of wine made of slices with 20% sugar addition. Ethanol fermentation of the figs by Saccharomyces cerevisiae was done rapidly. The ethanol contents, pH, total acidity and sugar content were 12.1%, 3.91, 0.42% and 9.9 °Brix, respectively. The results from the sensory evaluation were as follows. The wine made from the sliced figs were better than that from fig juices in their sensory scores. The wine made with frozen figs was not different from that made with fresh ones. To improve the quality of wine, the addition of dried leaf powder in the concentration of 100 ppm were tried and found it was superior to the one made without leaf.
