본 연구의 목적은 장기복무 후 전역한 제대군인의 악화된 재취업 환경을 분석하고 그에 따른 대응방안으로서의 전직지원프로그램에 대한 개선안을 도출하는데 있다. 분 석결과 현재 우리 군에서 운용 중인 장기복무 제대군인을 위한 전직지원프로그램이 기능적인 측면에서 매우 제한적일 뿐만 아니라 실효성 측면에서도 기대에 미치지 못 함을 확인하였다. 따라서 오늘날과 같이 고용 없는 성장과 고실업의 사회경제적 환경 에서 일자리가 부족으로 인해 직면하게 될 재취업희망 제대군인들의 취업위기에 효 율적으로 대응할 수 없다. 개선안으로 우선 전직지원프로그램에서 심리적 지원을 강 화할 필요가 있다. 지속적으로 심리적 안정과 치유를 위한 카운슬링 서비스를 전역대 상자 확정 시점부터 재취업 이후까지 단계별로 구축하여 제공하는 것이 필요하다. 전 역준비기간이 너무 짧고 재직기간동안 자신의 능력을 개발할 수 있는 기회가 제한적 이다. 따라서 전역준비기간의 연장과 수요자중심의 맞춤형 직업보도교육프로그램을 발굴하고 다양한 능력개발 프로그램을 운영하여 개인에게 경력관리 기회를 확충해 주는 것이 필요하다. 군과 기업은 지속적인 소통을 통해 재취업에 대한 상호적인 요 구와 조건을 공유하여 전역 후 재취업하고자 하는 희망자들에게 양질의 일자리를 제 공할 수 있도록 새로운 일자리를 발굴하고 육성해야 한다. 정부는 법과 제도적 정비 는 물론이고 재정지원이나 세제지원을 통해 뒷받침한다. According to the analysis results our military is currently operating in support programs for long-term service veterans is very limited in terms of functional and not feasible. By improvement, psychological support to the veterans need to strengther. Ongoing psychological counseling services and the need for healing. From a global point to re-employment step is to build support. Global warm-up period is too short and limited period of self-development. Thus, global warm-up preiod should be extended and consumer-oriented reporting, custom job training program should be excavated. And on a personal level the opportunity to a career should be expanded military and corporate needs. For re-employment through ongoing communication, sharing a mutual feedback. Then comes when you want to re-employment seekers throughout their decent work should be provided. The government should support financial support and tax incentives as well as legal and institutional maintenance.

Naringenin (NAR) as one of the fl avonoids observed in grapefruit has been reported to exhibit an anti-cancer activity. However, more detailed mechanism by which NAR exerts anti-cancer properties still remains unanswered. Thus, in this study, we have shown that NAR down-regulates the level of cyclin D1 in human colorectal cancer cell lines, HCT116 and SW480. NAR inhibited the cell proliferation in HCT116 and SW480 cells and decreased the level of cyclin D1 protein. Inhibition of proteasomal degradation by MG132 blocked NAR-mediated cyclin D1 downregulation and the half-life of cyclin D1 was decreased in the cells treated with NAR. In addition, NAR increased the phosphorylation of cyclin D1 at threonine-286 and a point mutation of threonine-286 to alanine blocked cyclin D1 downregulation by NAR. p38 inactivation attenuated cyclin D1 downregulation by NAR. From these results, we suggest that NAR-mediated cyclin D1 downregulation may result from proteasomal degradation through p38 activation. The current study provides new mechanistic link between NAR, cyclin D1 downregulation and cell growth in human colorectal cancer cells.

Background/Aims: Membranous obstruction of inferior vena cava (MOIVC) has been known as one of the risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the incidence of HCC in patient with MOIVC or the effect of treament on the natural history of the patients has not yet been evaluated. The present study was to analyze the incidence of HCC and the survival rate, and then, to determine whether treatment may modify the clinical course. Methods: The medical records of 39 patients diagnosed as MOIVC at Seoul National University Hospital from December 1984 to November 1997 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Seven patients had HCC at the time of diagnosis. We performed angioplasty for 21 of the rest patients, surgery for 4, and supportive care for 7. The 5- and 10-year survival rates of all patients were 90% and 69%, respectively. The 1-, 2- and 7-year incidence of HCC was 5%, 11% and 26%, respectively. The 10-year survival rates of treated and non-treated patients were 75% and 66%, respectively (p$gt;0.05). The 5-year incidence of HCC in treated and non-treated patients was 14% and 0%, respectively (p$gt;0.05). Conclusions: The treatment of MOIVC did neither increase survival rate nor prevent the development of HCC. Therefore, the efficacy of treatment for MOIVC should be reevaluated and patients should be followed up for the detection of HCC.

<P>The biological characteristics of intestinal-type early gastric cancers (ICs) differ based on mucin phenotypes. Beta-catenin delocalization is a predictive marker of aggressive biological behavior (submucosal invasion and lymph node metastasis) of ICs. The presumptive causative genetic alterations leading to delocalization of beta-catenin in ICs are still controversial, and there are only a few reports regarding beta-catenin expression in gastric cancer based on mucin phenotypes. Therefore, in the current study, the expression and mechanisms of delocalization of beta-catenin were elucidated on the basis of mucin phenotypes in 109 cases of ICs. There was increased cytoplasmic and nuclear beta-catenin expression (delocalization) in ICs with a predominant intestinal mucin phenotype (ICIP; 46.3% [25/54 cases]) compared to ICs with a predominant gastric mucin phenotype (ICGP; 20% [11/55 cases]). There were no beta-catenin or APC mutations in ICs. APC promoter hypermethylation was present in 49 of 105 (46.7%) cases of ICs. There was a significant relationship between APC promoter hypermethylation and beta-catenin delocalization in ICs, especially in ICIPs. There was no relationship between beta-catenin delocalization and APC gene loss of heterozygosity in ICs. In conclusion, we showed that beta-catenin delocalization was more evident in ICIPs, and APC promoter hypermethylation might play a role in delocalization of beta-catenin, especially in ICIPs.</P>
Anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of the various kinds of herbal tea

Objectives : Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are involved in a wide spectrum of diseases including chronic inflammation and cancer. In this study, we investigated the antioxidant activities and anti-inflammatory effects of the extracts from the herbal teas such as Lonicera japonica Thunberg (L. japonica), Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat (C. morifolium), Mentha arvensis L. (M. arvensis), and P.rhizoma. Methods : Anti-oxidant activity was evaluated using DPPH radical scavenging assay and $Fe^{2+}$ chelating assay. And DNA cleavage assay was performed to evaluate an anti-oxidative effect. Anti-inflammatory effect was performed using NO generation assay and western blot in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cell line. Results : L. japonica scavenged DPPH radical by 9.8% at 12.5 ${\mu}g/ml$, 24.8% at 25 ${\mu}g/ml$, 34.3% at 50 ${\mu}g/ml$, 61.1% at 100 ${\mu}g/ml$ and 75.8% at 200 ${\mu}g/ml$, respectively. In addition, C. morifolium and M. arvensis removed DPPH radical by 15.6% and 10.4% at 12.5 ${\mu}g/ml$, 34.8% and 22.8% at 25 ${\mu}g/ml$, 66.9% and 43.3% at 50 ${\mu}g/ml$, 87.4% and 69.1% at 100 ${\mu}g/ml$, and 92.1% and 73.2% at 200 ${\mu}g/ml$, respectively. However, P. rhizoma did not affect on DPPH radical scavenging. The $Fe^{2+}$ chelating activity was highest in L. japonica, but lowest in P. rhizoma among the herbal teas. In addition, the extracts from L. japonica, C. morifolium and M. arvensis inhibited oxidative DNA damage via its anti-oxidant activity. In anti-inflammatory effect, the extracts from C. morifolium inhibited NO production. In addition, it suppressed the $NF-{\kappa}B$ signaling pathway in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Conclusions : Together, this study indicates that L. japonica, M. arvensis and C. morifolium possess the protective effect against the oxidative DNA damage. Furthermore, C. morifolium exerts an anti-inflammatory effect.

목적 : 임신 중기 진단적 양수검사후 태아손실과 관련있는 요인들을 알아 보고자하였다. 연구방법 : 1996년 12월부터 1998년 8월 까지 가천의대 부속 길병원 산부인과에서 임신 중기에 양수검사를 시행한 산모 503명중 결과를 확인할 수 있었던 단태임신 412예에서의 임신경과를 산모의 나이, 검사의 적응증, 제태연령, 검사시 천자침의 태반관통여부, 양수의 색, 천자침의 태아접촉등의 요인에 대하여 Student t-test, chi-square test, multiple logistic regression test를 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과 : 연구대상 산모 412명의 평균연령은 31.8세였고, 산모의 연령증가시 검사후 임신경과가 나빴다. 검사 적응증이 신경관결손인 산모군은 다른 적응증을 가진 산모군에 비해 임신경과가 나빴으며, 다갈색으로 변색된 양수를 추출한 경우 임신경과가 나빴다. 제태 연령, 천자 침의 태반통과여부, 천자 침의 태아 접촉등은 임신경과에 영향을 주지 않았다. 결론 : 산모의 연령증가, 높은 신경관결손 위험도가 검사의 적응증일때와 다갈색으로 변색된 양수등은 임신중기 양수검사 후 태아손실과 관련있는 인자로 볼 수 있다. Objective: To evaluate factors associated with fetal losses following mid-trimester diagnostic amniocentesis.Methods: 412 pregnancy outcomes following amniocentesis were analyzed for each variables(maternal age, gestational age, indication for the amniocentesis, placental penetration by aspiration needle, needle touch by the fetus, color of amniotic fluid) with statistical methods(student t-test, chi-square test and multiple logistic regression test).Results: Mean maternal age was 31.8±4.9 years, fetal loss rate was increased slightly with the age of the mother. If the indications were abnormally high maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein level, the pregnancy courses after the procedure were worse than other indication groups. In cases of discolored amniotic fluid, the dark brown discoloration made the pregnancy outcome poor. Gestational age at the time of the procedure, penetration of the placenta by the aspirating needle, needle touch during the procedure by the fetus, did not influence the outcomes after the procedure. Conclusion: Maternal age, indication as neural tube defect in triple test and dark brown discoloration of amniotic fluid are associated with fetal losses following mid-trimester diagnostic amniocentesis.
