        The six kinds of natural factors(It refers to wind, cold, summer-heat, dampness, dryness and fire.) is constantly moving to maintain the balance of whole climate of one year. Four seasons are the largest mediation of whole climate of one year. The cold and the heat have the relationship of mutual intervention. The dampness and the dryness have it also. In this process they raise various climate appearance. And that various climate appearance influence the whole lives on the earth. This paper is concerned with the classification of them.

      • 갑상선 세포에서 전사보조활성인자인 CBP와 CIITA의 인터페론-감마 활성 부위에 대한 조절 : CBP and CIITA on GAS(Interferon- γ Activated Site)-Mediated Transcription in Thyroid Cells

        Background : In the previous stuides, we identified that the interferon-r activated sequence (GAS) in the 5-flanking region of rat ICAM-1 gene is major element for interferon-r-inducible expression of the gene in rat thyroid cells, FRTL-5. We here, investigated the role of transcriptional coactivators, CBP(CREB binding protein) and CⅡTA (class Ⅱ transactivator) in the modulation of the activity of GAS which could interacts with signal transducers and activators of transcription-1 and 3 (STAT1 and STAT3). Methods : The expression of CBP RNA and protein were quantitated in FRTL-5 after stimulation with interferon-r (IFN-r), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), forskolin and methimazole. Direct association of CBP with STAT were analyzed by immunoprecipitation. The transcriptional roles of CBP and CⅡTA in the regulation of GAS were assessed by the cotransfection with their expression vectors with reporters; 5-deletion constructs of rat ICAM-1 promoter or 8xGAS-luc constructs, into FRTL-5 thyroid cells. Results : The level of CBP RNA and protein were not changed by the treatment with TSH, IFN-r, forskolin and methimazole in FRTL-5, FRT and BRL liver cells. The CBP could be directly associated with STAT1. Furthermore, the overexpression of CBP significantly increases the both promoter activities; rat ICAM-1 gene promoter which has GAS element and 8xGAS-luc cassette constructs. However, the cotransfection of CⅡTA decreased the constitutive and CBP-mediated transactivation of rat ICAM-1 promoter and 8xGAS-luc cassette constructs. Conclusion : We identified that the two tanscriptional coactivators; CBP and CⅡTA has differential roles in the regulation of transcriptional activity of GAS drived promoter. CBP increases the GAS activity through the direct binding with STAT1, but CⅡTA inhibited the CBP-mediated transactivation of GAS activity.

        1995년도 대구지역 법의 부검 통계

        This is a statistical observation by authors based on data of deaths brought to department of forensic medicine, Kyungpook National University School of Medicine for medicolegal autopsy by all of law enforcement agencies in Taegu area during the year of 1995. The report aims to reveal facts on various causes of death in Taegu area in attempt to analyse 205 cases statistically. The following are the summary of results ; 1. The total numbers of autopsy were 205 cases, of these 121 cases (58%) were males and 83 cases (40%) were females. 2. The violent deaths were 135 cases (66%) and the natural deaths were 63 cases (31%) and unknown cases were 7 (3%). 3. The percentage of autopsied cases with 30's age group was 28.2% (the most), 20's was 17.2%, 40's was 13.8%, 10's was 13.8%... in violent deaths. The percentage of autopsied cases with 30's age group was 31%, 40's was 20%, 20's was 20%, 50's was 15.5%...in natural deaths. 4. For the violent deaths, the percentage deaths due to injury was 52.9%, asphyxia was 29.8%, intoxication was 10.4% and abnormal temperature(hypothermia or fire) or electrocution was 6.7%. 5. For deaths due to injuries, the percentage of deaths due to blunt injury was 45.7%, sharp force injury was 29.5%, fall was 17.1%. and traffic accident was 7.1%. 6. For the natural deaths, 60 cases were recorded and the death due to the disese of the cardiocascular system was taking the most of the total percentage with 53%. 7. For deaths due to injuries, the percentage of accidental death was 57.3%, homicide was 22% and suicide was 14.7%. 8. 31 subjects (51.7%) of 128 violent deaths have positive blood alcohol concentrations (0.05% and above) , and 8.1% of natural deaths were associated with alcohol intake. 9. For deaths by medical dispute, 7 cases were recorded and deaths combined with operation were taking the most of the total percentage with 43%.

        전신장기의 호산구 침윤을 동반한 급성 심내막염과 심근염 : An Autopsy Case 부검증례

        We experienced an autopsy case of acute endocarditis and myocarditis with systemic organic eosinophilic infiltration probably due to Clonorchis sinensis infection. Localized hypersensitivity reaction due to parasitic infection is common. Systemic eosinophilic infiltration is generally noted in idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome, drug induced reaction and parasitic infection.

        갑상선기능저하증에 기인한 내인성 급사 1예 보고

        Although it is known that hypothyroidism can cause cardiac dysfunction, it is very hard to find a case report on sudden death due to hypothyroidism. There are only two reported cases on mediline; one is about a 15-year-old girl who died suddenly of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and the other is about a 31-year-old man who also died suddenly of hypothyroidism associated with chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis. Recently we found a young woman who unexpectedly died while she was sleeping. She was diagnosed as hypothyroidism when she went to hospital about a month before she died. At autopsy there were roughly four abnormal findings; Hashimoto's thyroiditis, mild chronic active hepatitis, diverticulosis and accessory spleen. Trace of chlorpheniramine was detected in gastric remains and blood alcohol level was 0.37 percent. To our knowledge, this is the first case reporting sudden and unexpected natural death associated with hypothyroidism in Korea.

      • HMG-CoA 환원효소 억제제에 의한 ICAM-1 유전자의 발현조절

        Background : ICAM-1 act as one of major adhesion molecules in the atherosclerotic lesion. ICAM-1 expression is mainly regulated at the level of transcription and depend on IFN-γ signal transduction pathway in which the STAT1 transcrption factor is a critical intermediate. IFN-γreceptor not only initiates tyrosine 701 phosphorylation of STAT1 by Jak1 and Jak2, but also phosphorylates serine 727 through the activation of Raf-1/MAP kinases. HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors have anti-atherosclertic effects, beyond normalization of hypercholesterolemia, by directly acting on endothelial cells, macrophages and vascular smooth muscle cells. HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors suppress the synthesis of isoprenoid intermediates such as geranylgeranyl-pyrophosphate or farnesylpyrophosphate. These effects results inhibitors suppress the synthesis of isoprenoid intermediates such as geranylgeranyl-pyrophosphate or farnesylpyrophosphate. These effects results inhibition posttranslational farnesylation and geranyl-geranylation processing of small GTP-binding preoteins and inhibition of normal signaling activities. Method : We made several 5'-deletion constructs of rat ICAM-1 promoter and analyzed the promoter activities by measuring the luciferase activity after transfection into ECV304 cells and smooth muscle cells. We checked the level of total and phosphorylated STAT1 protein by immunoblot analysis using specific antibodies. Results : Lovastatin inhibits IFN-γ-induced ICAM-1 gene expression in the ECV304cell. The cells pretreated with PD98059, MEKK inhibitor showed significantly low ICAM-1 RNA induction with IFN-γ stimulatio. IFN-γ induced phosphorylation of tyrosine 701 was not significantly changed by the pretreatment of lovastatin. But lovastatin suppresses IFN-γ-induced phosphorylation of ERK1/ERK2 which are responsible for the seine 727 phosphorylation in STAT1. Conclusion : We showed that HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, lovastatin, suppresses IFN-γ mediated ICAM-1 gene expression through the inhibition of transcription. HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor suppresses IFN-γ-induced phosphorylation of serine 727 in STAT1 through the modulation of MAP kinases.

      • Development of Multi-purpose Rollator for Elderly Farmers

        Currently on the market, price of rollator is quite expensive also it has a complicated control system, so some difficulty still remains in the use of the elderly. In addition, there is insufficient space to be loaded with objects, and the durability is not good for use in rural areas. Therefore, in this study, the rollator was developed for supporting straight spine of elderly farmers, using as chair whenever they need to use, and loading with large cargo box which is very practical. For quantitative evaluation of rollator that was developed, the experiment was carried out with two rollators which have different braking system with recording muscle responses in the ramp by using a system of EMG. The results of ANOVA analysis, in case of ``existing rollator`` showed that muscle response of 5.6%MVC, ``developed rollator``showed that muscle response 3.8%MVC. So existing rollator was proved that requires the use of muscles more than ``developed rollator``requires. The results of the statistical analysis by dividing the lower and upper limbs, it showed significance difference on every muscle except deltoid muscle in the upper limb, and any muscles of the lower limb showed no significance difference. Additionally, the interaction between rollator and muscle were statistically significant. The rollator that was developed in this study has maximized the function as chair, cargo box, and braking system which was limitation of existing rollators, so that elderly farmers could use it more easily and effectively.
