        한국에서 사용 중인 개 파보바이러스 백신의 유효성 확인

        Canine parvovirus (CPV) type 2a (CPV-2a) has recently been identified as the main genotype circulating in the dog population in South Korea. Although CPV vaccines protect domestic dogs from CPV-2 infection, the efficacy of commercial live or inactivated CPV vaccines against CPV-2a has not been reevaluated. In this study, dogs were immunized with one of 7 commercial CPV vaccines (4 modified live and 3 inactivated vaccines) followed by challenge with CPV-2a strain, KV0901 that had been isolated from naturally infected dog in 2009. All dogs vaccinated twice with 4 commercial modified live CPV vaccines were seroconverted (geometric mean HI titer >190.2) and most of dogs were completely protected against virulent CPV-2a strain infection. The dogs inoculated with 3 commercial inactivated CPV vaccines were also seroconverted and showed a slight loss of appetite and light diarrhea for 4 days after challenge and returned to normal at 5 days post challenge. However, the non-vaccinated dogs revealed the typical clinical signs of CPV infection including haemorrhgic diarrhea. In conclusion, the 4 live CPV vaccines licensed in Korea cross-protected dogs against virulent challenge with CPV-2a and are applicalble to pet dogs for the prevention of CPV infection.

        Comparison of the pathogenicity in three different Korean canine parvovirus 2 (CPV-2) isolates

        Canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV-2) is a major pathogen inducing acute hemorrhagic gastroenteritis in dogs. Despite the identification of numerous CPV-2 variants (from CPV-2a to CPV-2c), the pathogenic differences among the CPV-2 variants in dogs have not been evaluated. The aim of this study was to compare the pathogenicity of CPV-2 variants (CPV-2a-I, CPV-2a-V and CPV-2b) isolated mainly from Korea. We evaluated the pathogenicity of three different CPV-2 variants, by performing clinical, hematological, serological and histopathological examinations after experimentally inoculating three types of CPV-2 variants into young puppies. We found that the overall pathogenicity of the CPV-2a variants (CPV-2a-I and 2a-V) was severer compared to the CPV-2b variant. In addition, there was no significant difference in pathogenicity between the two CPV-2a variants. Our findings indicate that there are differences in the pathogenicity of CPV-2 variants in dogs, which may be useful to understand the different pathobiology of the CPV-2 variants.

        3D-HEVC를 위한 컨투어 분할 기반 깊이영상 부호화 회로 설계

        3D-HEVC는 2개 이상의 시점을 이용해서 중간시점들을 생성하며, 각 시점은 텍스쳐영상과 깊이영상으로 이루어진다. DMM4는 깊이영상을 부호화하는 기법들 중 하나로서, PU 블록을 임의의 형태를 갖는 2개의 영역으로 분할하고 각각의 영역을 1개의 대표값 CPV로 표현한다. 분할된 영역은 1과 0의 조합으로 구성된 비트 패턴으로 나타내며, 이를 컨투어라고 부른다. 원본 PU 블록과의 왜곡을 줄이기 위하여 각 컨투어에 속한 화소들의 평균값을 시작점으로 하여 최적 CPV를 찾기 위한 거시적 탐색과 미시적 탐색을 수행한다. 주어진 PU 블록의 왼쪽과 위쪽에 위치한 주변화소로부터 예측 CPV를 구한 다음, 예측CPV와 최적 CPV의 차이인 델타 CPV, 원본 PU 블록과 최적 CPV의 차이인 레지듀얼을 계산한다. 제안한 회로는 병렬 구조와 파이프라인 기법을 바탕으로 이 과정을 실시간으로 처리한다. 130nm 표준 셀 라이브러리를 이용하여 합성한 결과, 면적은 97,219게이트이며 최대 동작주파수는 250MHz로서 UHD급 영상을 초당 34.4∼78.1 프레임의 속도로 처리한다. The 3D-HEVC synthesizes intermediate views using two or more views and each view consists of texture and depth map. The DMM4 is one of the techniques to encode the depth map. It divides a PU block into two regions with arbitrary shape and represents each region with one CPV. This region, which is called contour, is expressed by a bit pattern consisting of a combination of 1 and 0. The coarse and refinement searches for the optimized CPV are performed to reduce the distortion from the original PU block. The starting point of the search is the average value of the pixels in each contour. The predicted CPV is derived from the left and top neighboring pixels of the given PU block. Then, the delta CPV and residuals are obtained by computing the difference between the predicted CPV and optimized CPV, and the difference between the original PU block and optimized CPV. The proposed circuit processes these procedures in real time by using parallel architecture and pipeline technique. The synthesized circuit using 130nm standard cell library consists of 97,219 gates and processes UHD images at the rate of 34.4∼78.1 frames per second with the maximum operating frequency of 250MHz.

        Evaluation for Protective Effect of CPV-2 and CPV-2b Vaccines against a Korean CPV-2a Isolate in Pups

        We evaluated the change of quadriceps angle (QA) after tibial tuberosity transposition. Twenty-nine animalsand 37 limbs of the total 62 case possibilities qualified for this study. The preoperative QA was 24.02 ± 4.02 in grade2, 26.08 ± 5.66 in grade 3 and 30.25 ± 7.41 in grade 4. The postoperative QA was 21.25 ± 3.24 in grade 2, 19.16 ± 3.92in grade 3 and 19.72 ± 7.30 in grade 4. The postoperative QA for all grades significantly decreased when comparedwith the preoperative QA (P < 0.05). However, the postoperative QA values were not within the normal range, althoughthe dogs’ prognosis remained good during the 4-month follow-up period. These results suggest that postoperative The aim of this study was to determine if vaccines containing CPV-2 or CPV-2b provided protection againstchallenge with a recent Korean CPV-2a isolate. Twenty mongrel pups aged 9 weeks old were used. The commercialCPV-2 or CPV-2b vaccines were administered to each of the 8 pups thrice every 3 weeks, respectively. Two weeksafter the last vaccination, all pups were challenged with CPV-2a (VR00174 strain) 1 × 106 TCID50. Clinical signs, fecalexcretion of challenged CPV, and serological response of pups were observed for 2 weeks after challenge. All vaccinatedpups did not display any clinical signs of disease after challenge with Korean CPV-2a isolate, whereas all non-vaccinatedpups exhibited mucoid or hemorrhagic diarrhea, vomiting and anorexia. In all non-vaccinated pups, the virus couldbe detected in feces from 4 days after challenge, whereas in vaccinated pups, no evidence of viral excretion couldbe detected. Two of 4 non-vaccinated pups died 6 days after the challenge. However, todate, no study has investigated glucose abnormalities in dogs with chronic mitral valve insufficiency (CMVD). Thus,we hypothesized that glucose metabolism abnormalities due to heart failure may develop in dogs with CMVD. Aprospective study was performed on 113 client-owned dogs with variable CMVD severities. Serum insulin, glucagon,fructosamine, and glucose concentrations were measured, and insulin resistance was determined using the homeostaticmodel assessment (HOMA) score. The serum insulin concentration had a significant inverse association with the heartfailure severity. However, there was no significant association between the heart failure severity and fructosamine,HOMA score, and fasting blood glucose. Insulin, fructosamine, and HOMA had a significant positive association withbody condition scores (BCS), whereas glucose had no association. This study found that insulin secretion in dogswith naturally occurring heart failure due to CMVD might be compromised as the disease worsens

        Isolation and identification of canine parvovirus type 2b in Korean dogs

        Canine parvovirus (CPV) is a major diarrhea-causing agent in puppies. Since CPV type 2 (CPV-2) emerged in 1978, new antigenic variants including CPV-2a, CPV-2b, and CPV-2c have been identified in many countries. Two puppies died suddenly at a veterinary clinic in Gyeonggi province, South Korea. Two viruses were isolated in A72 cells, confirmed as CPV strains based on a CPV rapid kit and an indirect fluorescence test and designated QIACP1403 and QIACP1404. The nucleotide sequences of complete VP2 genes of QIACP1403 and QIACP1404 were determined, and the corresponding amino acid sequences were deduced. Molecular analyses revealed that the QIACP1403 and QIACP1404 isolates were type CPV-2b. Several mutated amino acids were detected on VP2 gene residues of the two isolates. Phylogenetic analyses showed that the two isolates were most closely related to strain CPV-BM11, which was isolated from Chinese dogs in 2011. Our results suggest that these isolates may be a candidate for a vaccine to prevent CPV infection in dogs after conducting passages of the isolates in an in vitro culture system.

      • 원추형 집광기를 이용한 태양광-열(CPV/T) 복합시스템 개발

        본 연구에서 원추형 집광기와 CPV셀을 기반으로 한 태양광-열(CPV/T) 복합시스템의 설계 및 제작과정을 다룬다. 원추형 집광기의 경우, 이론적 해석을 통하여 최고의 집열효율을 갖는 원추각 45도의 집광기 4개를 결합하여 사용하였다. 원추형 복합시스템은 태양에너지를 집열하여 열에너지를 생산하는 집광기와 작동유체의 순환을 위해 이중 구조로 제작된 흡수기, 집광된 태양으로부터 전기에너지를 생산하는 CPV셀 등으로 구성되어 있다. 효율적인 태양복사열 집광을 위해 태양 위치에 따라 고도각과 방위각을 추적할 수 있는 2축 태양추적장치를 설비하였다. CPV셀은 원추형 집광기의 중심부에 위치한 이중 흡수관의 고집광부인 상단부에 위치하였으며, CPV셀의 결함을 방지하고, 부가적 태양광 집광을 위해 2차 보조 집광기를 부착하였다. 본 논문에서 소개하는 원추형 CPV/T 복합 시스템은 기존 원추형 시스템에 CPV셀을 부착하여 전기와 열을 동시에 생산 할 수 있으며, 생산된 전기에너지와 열에너지를 이용하여 온실재배의 난방 문제, 운영비용 절약 등 다양하게 농업 분야에 적용가능하다. 특히, 원추형 복합시스템은 설계 및 제작에 있어 쉽고 간결하며, 제작 단가가 낮다는 점에서 보급에 이점이 있을 것으로 사료된다.

        CPV모듈의 2차 광학계 특성에 따른 성능분석

        Concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) system consists of high-quality complex optical elements, mechanical devices, and electronics components and can have the advantages of high integration and high-efficiency energy sources. III-V compound semiconductor cells have proven performance based on high reliability in the aerospace field, but have characteristics that require absolute support of the balance of systems (BOS) such as solar position trackers, receivers with heat sinks, and housing instruments. To determine the optimum parameters of secondary optical elements (SOEs) design for CPV systems, we designed three types of CPV modules, classified as non-SOEs type, reflective mirror type, and CPC lens type. We measured the I-V and P-V characteristics of the prototype CPV modules with the angle of inclination varying from 0° to 12° and with a 500-magnification Fresnel lens. The experimental results assumed misalignment of the solar position tracker or module design of pinpoint accuracy. As a result, at the 0° tilt angle, the CPC lens produced lower power due to the quartz transmittance ratio compared to that by other SOEs. However, for tilt angles greater than 3°, the CPC lens type module achieved high efficiency and stability. This study is expected to help design high-performance CPV systems.

        The first isolation and genetic characterization of canine parvovirus types 2a and 2c from dogs with suspected enteritis in the Republic of Korea

        Canine parvovirus type-2 (CPV-2) has been reported worldwide as the main agent associated with acute hemorrhagic enteritis, resulting in high morbidity, especially in young dogs. CPV-2 has three genetic variants, 2a, 2b, and 2c. Here, we report three cases of canine parvovirus enteritis associated with CPV-2a (2 samples) and -2c (1 sample) infections that occurred in three young dogs suffering from enteritis. Isolates from dog diarrheic fecal samples were sequenced by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and identified as two types of CPV-2a and one type of CPV-2c. This work constitutes the first isolation and genetic characterization of CPV-2c in the Republic of Korea.

        Production of VP2 protein of canine parvovirus-2c expressed in baculovirus expression system

        Viral protein 2 (VP2), which is the structural protein of parvovirus, can produce virus-like particles (VLPs) by a self-assembly process in vitro, making VLPs attractive vaccine candidates. VP2 of canine parvovirus (CPV) is responsible for neutralizing antibodies in immunized animals. In this study, VP2 protein of canine parvovirus-2c was expressed using a baculovirus expression system and assembled into parvovirus-like particles in insect cells. The results show that VP2 proteins assembled into virus-like particles (VLPs) with antigenic properties similar to those of natural CPV and a high hemagglutination (HA) titer (1:2⁷). The recombinant 6-His-tagged VP2 protein with a molecular mass of about 65 kDa was detected by anti-His antibody and anti-PPV serum. This study provides a foundation for the application of VP2 protein in the clinical diagnosis of CPV and in the vaccination against CPV.
