<P>The decoupling and enhancement of both Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity were achieved by constructing the <I>c</I>-axis preferentially oriented nanoscale Sb<SUB>2</SUB>Te<SUB>3</SUB> film on monolayer graphene. <P>Surface exothermic chemical reaction was amplified by the carbon nanotube film on a polymer substrate. <P>IL-33 (IL-1F11) is a member of IL-1 family ligand, which stimulates the production of inflammatory cytokines. IL-33 receptor complex is comprised of IL-1 receptor accessory protein (IL-1RAcP) and ST2 that are activated by IL-33 ligand binding. ST2 is a ligand-binding chain of the IL-33 receptor component, and the soluble ST2 form possesses antagonistic activity. Here, we expressed the extracellular domain of ST2-fused to the immunoglobulin of IgG1 constant region in order to generate a soluble recombinant Fc-ST2. Human and mouse recombinant Fc-ST2 protein were expressed in Chinese hamster ovary cells and purified using a mini-protein A affinity chromatography. The recombinant Fc-ST2 protein was used to examine inhibitory function in IL-33-induced cytokine production in different cell types. The human Fc-ST2 abolished IL-33-induced IL-8 production in human mast cells, but mouse Fc-ST2 failed to inhibit IL-33-induced TNFα production in mouse Raw 264.7 macrophage cells. We further investigated the expression of IL-33 receptor component with various cell lines. IL-33 receptors expression pattern and Fc-ST2 inhibitory activity in different cell types suggest that IL-1RAcP and ST2 are necessary but insufficient for IL-33 activity. Our results suggest that an additional receptor component may participate in the biological activity of IL-33.</P>

<P>IL-33/IL-1F11 is a new member of the IL-1 family ligand and provokes T helper-type immune responses. IL-33 is the ligand of ST2 and IL-1 receptor accessory protein (IL-1RAcP) that triggers nuclear factor-κ light chain enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) and MAPK signaling. We discovered a novel short splice variant of <I>IL-33</I> that was termed <I>spIL-33</I>. The new <I>spIL-33</I> lacks exon 3 containing a proposed caspase-1 cleavage site. We isolated <I>spIL-33</I> cDNA from the Huh7 human hepatocarcinoma cell line and expressed the recombinant spIL-33 protein in Escherichia coli. The recombinant spIL-33 and pro-IL-33 were not cleaved by caspase-1, unlike IL-18 (IL-1F4). The recombinant spIL-33 was constitutively active, and spIL-33-induced inflammatory cytokine production was caspase-1-independent in HMC-1 and Raw 264.7 cells. The recombinant spIL-33 induced the phosphorylation of IL-1 receptor-associated kinase (IRAK1), NF-κB, p38 MAPK, p44/42 MAPK, and JNK in a time- and dose-dependent manner. Anti-ST2 monoclonal antibody specifically blocked the spIL-33-induced cytokine production. In this study, we identified and characterized a new IL-33 splice variant, which was a constitutively active IL-33 isoform. The existence of constitutively active spIL-33 suggests that the biological activity of IL-33 could be triggered by diverse stimulations during immune responses. Further investigation of the spIL-33 expression pattern may contribute to understanding the involvement of IL-33 in inflammatory disorders.</P>

Alternating current dielectrophoresis has received considerable attention as a promising candidate to separate single-walled carbon nanonubes according to electronic structure. Recently, the effects of induced surface charge on dielectrophoretic mobility of semiconducting nanotubes were investigated via Raman spectroscopic analysis. Here we present electrical transport characteristics of surface-charge-controlled, dielectrophoretically deposited nanotube array. The modulation in surface conductance of nanotubes effects the polarizability of semiconducting nanotubes, resulting in more effective separation of metallic fraction from nanotubes mixture of polydispersed state. The surface charge was controlled using cationic/anionic surfactant mixtures. The resulting transport behaviors obtained from preferential electrical breakdown for metallic tubes demonstrated surface conductance modulation induced more effective separation between metallic and semiconducting species.

Intravenous iron is often preferred in postpartum anemia, in order to get more rapid effect and avoid gastrointestinal side effects of oral iron. It is known as a convenient and safe method in iron-deficient anemia with minimal harmful side effects. However, there have occasionally been rare adverse symptoms such as myalgia, arthralgia, and shortness of breath after administration of intravenous iron. In this case, we have observed leg muscle cramps and dyspnea right after injecting intravenous iron sucrose in a woman with postpartum hemorrhage.
ICT를 중심으로, 유니콘 기업의 동향 분석에 관한 연구

최근 산업 혁신의 지표로 여겨지는 유니콘 기업에 대한 관심이 전세계적으로 높아지고 있으며, 그 숫자는 매년 증가하는 추세에 있다. 우리 정부에서도 다양한 정책적 지원을 통해 유니콘 기업 발굴에 힘썼지만 아직까지 우리나라의 유니콘 기업 수는 부족한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 유니콘 기업의 동향을 분석하고 이를 통해 향후 유니콘 발굴 육성에 있어서 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다.

본 연구는 모바일 가상현실에 적합한 이동 상호작용을 제공하기 위한 인터페이스를 제안하고 비교 실험을 통해 분석한다. 제안하는 인터페이스는 접근성과 활용성을 고려하여 모바일 HMD를 제외한 추가적인 장비를 사용하지 않는 것을 전제로 한다. 그리고 사용자의 시선을 활용하여 이동 상호작용을 제어하는 인터페이스를 두 단계로 나누어 설계한다. 핵심은 가상 현실에서의 직선 이동이 유발시킬 수 있는 멀미 등의 부정적 요인의 발생을 최소화하는 것이다. 이를 위해 시선을 지면으로 향하여 이동하도록 전/후진 버튼으로 구성된 인터페이스, 실제 걷기 동작에서의 시선 변화를 고려하여 정면 상단에 좌, 우 버튼으로 구성된 인터페이스의 두 단계를 설계한다. 제안한 인터페이스를 통한 이동 상호작용을 비교 분석할 수 있는 어플리케이션을 제작하고, 사용자를 대상으로 만족하는 인터페이스 경험과 이동 과정에서의 부정적 영향을 확인하기 위한 설문 실험을 진행한다. 이를 통해 제안한 이동 상호작용이 사용자에게 만족하는 인터페이스 경험과 함께 멀미와 같은 부정적 영향을 감소시키는 것으로 확인되었다. This study proposes an interface for providing mobile interaction suitable for mobile virtual reality (VR) and analyzes it through comparative experiments. The proposed interface is premised on not using additional equipment except for the mobile head-mounted display(HMD) in consideration of accessibility and usability. And the interface that controls the movement interaction using the user’s gaze is designed in two phases. The key is to minimize the occurrence of negative factors such as VR sickness that can be caused by straight line movement in virtual reality. To this end, two phases are designed: an interface composed of forward/backward buttons to move the gaze toward the ground, and an interface composed of left and right buttons on the front in consideration of the gaze change in real walking motion. An application that can compare and analyze movement interactions through the proposed interface is produced, and a survey experiment is conducted to analyze the user’s satisfaction with the interface experience and the negative impact on the movement process. It was confirmed that the proposed movement interaction reduced negative effects such as VR sickness along with a satisfactory interface experience for users.
