Objective. Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease that, pathologically, is characterized by the progressive growth and invasion of the synovial pannus into the surrounding cartilage and bone. Many cytokines, including transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1), have been implicated in this process, but their mode of action is incompletely understood. The goal of the present study was to better understand the downstream signaling pathways of TGFβ in fibroblasts. Methods. The role of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI 3-kinase) was determined by chemical inhibition with LY294002 or wortmannin. Activation of protein kinase B (Akt), c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNKs), and extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKS) was evaluated by Western blot analysis using phospho-specific antibodies. Results. Exposure of fibroblasts to TGFβ rapidly induced activation of a kinase, Akt, that is known to inhibit apoptosis bv a variety of pathways. Activation of Akt was blocked by the specific PI 3-kinase inhibitor, LY294002, indicating that TGFβ-mediated phosphorylation of Akt was dependent on PI 3-kinase activation. This activation pathway was relatively selective for Akt, since inhibition of PI 3-kinase failed to substantially modifv activation of ERKs or JNKs in synovial fibroblasts. Inhibition of the PI 3-kinase/Akt pathway resulted in impaired proliferation of synovial fibroblasts and partial attenuation of the protective effect of TGFβ on Fas-mediated apoptosis. Conclusion. TGFβ exerts its growth and anti-apoptotic effects on fibroblasts, at least in part, by, activation of the PI 3-kinase/Akt pathway.
Various Psychiatric Manifestation in DiGeorge Syndrome (22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome): A Case Report

This case report aimed to describe various psychiatric manifestation and treatment course in a patient with DiGeorge syndrome. Psychiatric symptoms and treatment course in a female patient with DiGeorge syndrome were described. This patient showed psychotic symptoms, mood symptoms, and intellectual disability. As well as various psychiatric symptoms, treatment response and sensitivity of side effect by antipsychotics were different from typical characteristics in psychiatric disorders. This case suggests that the genetic defect in DiGeorge syndrome might have a great association with psychiatric problems and response of antipsychotics.
수급자의 생활세계 관점에서 바라본 사회복지정보화 : 정보 리터러시 3차원을 중심으로

본 연구는 수급자들이 자신의 일상생활 속에서 사회복지정보를 어떤 방식으로 접근, 이해, 활용하는지를 구체적으로 살펴봄으로써, 정부의 사회복지정보 제공방법이 어떻게 바뀌어야 하는지를 제안하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이른바 정보사회가 도래하면서 한국 정부 또한 IT 교육프로그램 확대, 복지정보포털 ‘복지로’ 개통 등 사회복지정보 전달과 공유를 위해 많은 노력을 기울여 왔다. 그러나 정부의 관심과 노력에도 불구하고 여전히 많은 복지대상자들이 사회복지정보를 접하고 이를 활용하는 데 어려움을 겪고 있는 것이 사실이다. 이는 그동안 복지수급자 대상 정보화 사업이 행정체계의 입장에서 상향식으로 추진되면서, 수급자들이 실제 생활세계에서 어떤 방식으로 정보를 얻고 해석하며 이용하는지를 충분히 고려하지 못했기 때문이기도 하다. 이에 본 연구는 수급자들이 자신의 일상적인 삶에서 사회복지정보를 어떻게 받아들이고 인식하는지를 살펴보고 그들의 시점에서 사회복지정보화를 성찰해보고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 수급자 14명을 심층면접하고 이를 주제분석법을 적용하여 분석했다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 사회복지정보화의 추진방향이 복지공급자인 정부의 행정체계 중심이 아니라 수요자의 생활세계의 관점에서 출발해야 할 필요가 있음을 제기하고자 한다. This study delineates how recipients access, understand, and make use of social welfare information in their life-worlds. Through this vivid illustration about recipients' information behaviors, this research aims to suggest that government-centred welfare informatization policy should be readjusted. South Korean government has made enormous efforts to deliver and share social welfare information and knowledge with recipients, by organizing IT eduction programmes, offering free computers, and opening welfare portals. However, despite of such endeavors, not a few recipients find difficulty in gaining, grasping, and using welfare information. In fact, welfare informatization programmes have so far been initiated by the governmental bureaucratic system, and the voice of recipients have hardly been reflected on the informatization policy. Starting from this problem, this study examines how low-income recipients perceive and accept social welfare information in their daily lives and reflects on social welfare information at their point. For this purpose, this research conducted in-depth interviews with 14 recipients and analyzed the data using a framework analysis method. Based on the results, it raises the need for the remodelling of current welfare informatization measures from the perspective of recipients rather than following the custom of the bureaucratic system.
사고분석 사례를 통한 사고기록장치 개선방안에 대한 고찰

This study was initiated to improve of the defect investigation method using event data recorders (EDR) and suggested a solution through the regulation and system analysis of EDR. The EDR data has been used for various purposes such as the vehicle defect investigation and the traffic accident investigation. However the EDR regulation has not been updated since the implementation in 2012. "Trigger Threshold" can be used to analyze a single accident such as the frontal crash, the side crash, and the rollover. In the case of a complex accident in which a rollover accident and a crash accident occur simultaneously, it is difficult to analyze a complex accident due to current "Trigger Threshold". This study proposed the method of separating the "Trigger Threshold" into a crash accident and a rollover accident so that accidents can be analyzed using the EDR data even when a complex accident occurs. In addition, it proposed the improvement method to quickly use the data of EDR in accident reconstruction software.
Inhibitory Effect of Melosira nummuloides extract on Adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 Cells

The diatom Melosira nummuloides is a microalga that is widely distributed in freshwater and seawater is used is used in the production of silicon and fucoxanthin. Microalgae are prokaryotic or eukaryotic microscopic single-cell organisms, producing a great variety of compounds. In recent years, microalgae have attracted great interest for their potential applications in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industry. The anti-obesity effect of Melosial nummuloides extract (ME) was first discovered in our screening of natural product extract library against adipogenesis. To characterize its anti-obesity effects and to evaluate its potential as an anti-obesity foods in in vitro. The effect ME on the expression of various adipogenesis-related genes was analyzed via western blotting and quantitative real time PCR. We demonstrated that ME significantly down regulated the expression of C/EBP⍺, PPARγ, aP2, ACC, FAS, SCD, and ATGL in a dose dependent manner. ME inhibits lipid accumulation by regulating adipogenesis and lipogenesis related genes and signaling proteins. ME may a good candidate for a functional food formulation for treating or controlling obesity.
An anti-inflammatory effect of Melosira nummuloides extracts in RAW264.7 Cells

The diatom Melosira nummuloides is a microalga that is widely distributed in freshwater and seawater is used is used in the production of silicon and carotinoids. Microalgae produce various bioactive compounds that exhibit potential pharmaceticula effects, including antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidative activities. These bioactive compounds include fatty acids, proteins, chlorophylls, and vitamins. In this study, we examined the anti-inflammatory effects of Melosira nummuloides extract (ME) on the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-mediated inflammatory responses in the RAW 264.7 cell lines. Our findings show that ME significantly ameliorated LPS-induced nitric oxide (NO) release and production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. The levels of COX-2 and iNOS in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells were found to be suppressed by ME. Further, ME significantly suppressed the LPS-induced expression of mRNAs encoding COX-2, iNOS, IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α in a concentration-dependent manner. Therefore, ME can using as candidate for natural products to be use in the pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries.
