        Dynamic Range Improvement of IM-DD Optical Link using Dual-Wavelength Dual-Parallel Modulation

        In this paper, we present an incoherent dual-parallel modulation linearized optical link employing two different optical wavelengths. Comparing with previous dual-parallel modulation, this linearization method prevents the recreation of distortion products and can be readily implemented. Furthermore, a dual-wavelength dual-parallel modulation linearized optical link constructed with the commercially available devices is experimentally demonstrated with a spurious-free dynamic range of 122.5 dB.Hz4/5. More than 25 dB suppression of the intermodulation distortion, 15.6 dB improvement of spurious-free dynamic range and 1.5 dB improvement of compression dynamic range are achieved after linearization.

        Application and Analysis of Rhizopus oryzae Mycelia Extending Characteristic in Solid-state Fermentation for Producing Glucoamylase

        Enhanced application of solid-state fermentation (SSF) in industrial production and the influence of SSF of Rhizopus K1 on glucoamylase productivity were analyzed using the flat band method. A growth model was implemented through SSF of Rhizopus K1 in this experiment, and spectrophotometric method was used to determine glucoamylase activity. Results showed that in bran and potato culture medium with 70% moisture in a loose state, μ of mycelium reached to 0.15 h<sup>-1</sup> after 45 h of culture in a thermostatic water bath incubator at 30°C. Under a low-magnification microscope, mycelial cells appeared uniform, bulky with numerous branches, and were not easily ruptured. The generated glucoamylase activity reached to 55 U/g (dry basis). This study has good utilization value for glucoamylase production by Rhizopus in SSF.

        A Novel Measurement Approach for The Half-wave Voltage of Phase Modulator based on PM-MZI Photonic Link

        This paper presents a new method for measuring the half-wave voltage Vπ of an electro-optic phase modulator based on a phase-modulated photonic link with interferometric demodulation. By using this method, the Vπ can be obtained with the RF voltage amplitude input required to achieve 1-dB gain compression of link and the differential delay of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. We measure the Vπ of a commercial phase modulator by using the presented method and the carrier/the first sideband intensity ratio method. Furthermore, we compare the two measurements with the typical value provided by the manufacturer. The experiment shows that this novel measurement method is feasible, straightforward, and accurate.

        Alternative Biological Material for Tissue Engineering of the Vagina: Porcine-Derived Acellular Vaginal Matrix

        Background: Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is a severe congenital disorder characterized by vaginal hypoplasia caused by dysplasia of the Müllerian duct. Patients with MRKH syndrome often require nonsurgical or surgical treatment to achieve satisfactory vaginal length and sexual outcomes. The extracellular matrix has been successfully used for vaginal reconstruction. Methods: In this study, we developed a new biological material derived from porcine vagina (acellular vaginal matrix, AVM) to reconstruct the vagina in Bama miniature pigs. The histological characteristics and efficacy of acellularization of AVM were evaluated, and AVM was subsequently transplanted into Bama miniature pigs to reconstruct the vaginas. Results: Macroscopic analysis showed that the neovaginas functioned well in all Bama miniature pigs with AVM implants. Histological analysis and electrophysiological evidence indicated that morphological and functional recovery was restored in normal vaginal tissues. Scanning electron microscopy showed that the neovaginas had mucosal folds characteristics of normal vagina. No significant differences were observed in the expression of CK14, HSP47, and α-actin between the neovaginas and normal vaginal tissues. However, the expression of estrogen receptor (ER) was significantly lower in the neovaginas than in normal vaginal tissues. In addition, AVM promoted the expression of β-catenin, c-Myc, and cyclin D1. These results suggest that AVM might promotes vaginal regeneration by activating the β-catenin/c-Myc/cyclin D1 pathway. Conclusion: This study reveals that porcine-derived AVM has potential application for vaginal regeneration.         Determination of the Amino Acid Requirements and Optimum Dietary Amino Acid Pattern for Growing Chinese Taihe Silky Fowls in Early Stage

        A mathematical model has been constructed to estimate the amino acid requirements for growing Taihe silky fowls in early stage. A requirement was taken as the sum of the needs for maintenance, for gain in carcass weight without feathers, and for the feathers. The maintenance requirement was considered to be the sum of the needs for replacing skin and intestinal losses and for the obligatory creatinine excretion in the urine. A comparative slaughter trial and nitrogen balance trials with growing and adult Taihe silky fowls, respectively, were conducted to estimate the parameters in the model. The amino acid requirements were then calculated with the constructed models. The results showed as following: the replacement needs for skin nitrogen loss was determined at 213.41 mg/d for adult male fowls (body weight 1.60 kg); creatinine excretion in these birds was 4.04 mg/d. when fed an nitrogen-free diets, the adult male fowls with body weight 1.60 kg excreted a total of 246.10 mg/d endogenous nitrogen. The net protein requirement for maintenance was estimated at $11.24mg/w_g{^{0.75}}/d$Per gram of body weight gain contained 27.18 mg carcass nitrogen for growing birds in early stage, but feathers nitrogen in per gram of body weight gain increased with age. The amino acid requirements for growing Taihe silky fowls were slightly higher than for starting and growing pullets, but lower than that of broiler chicks. The amino acid requirements patterns changed with weeks of age.

        A Slot Allocated Blocking Anti-Collision Algorithm for RFID Tag Identification

        In many Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) applications, the reader recognizes the tags within its scope repeatedly. For these applications, some algorithms such as the adaptive query splitting algorithm (AQS) and the novel semi-blocking AQS (SBA) were proposed. In these algorithms, a staying tag retransmits its ID to the reader to be identified, even though the ID of the tag is stored in the reader`s memory. When the length of tag ID is long, the reader consumes a long time to identify the staying tags. To overcome this deficiency, we propose a slot allocated blocking anti-collision algorithm (SABA). In SABA, the reader assigns a unique slot to each tag in its range by using a slot allocation mechanism. Based on the allocated slot, each staying tag only replies a short data to the reader in the identification process. As a result, the amount of data transmitted by the staying tags is reduced greatly and the identification rate of the reader is improved effectively. The identification rate and the data amount transmitted by tags of SABA are analyzed theoretically and verified by various simulations. The simulation and analysis results show that the performance of SABA is superior to the existing algorithms significantly.

        <P>A bis(2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene)-benzodifuran-dione (BIBDF)-based low band gap polymer (PBIBDF-BT), containing a solubilizing alkyl chain bithiophene unit as a donor, has been synthesized. The polymer with a low-lying LUMO/HOMO energy level (−4.03/−5.55 eV) exhibits efficient ambipolar charge transport.         Photocatalytic removal of cefazolin using Ag3PO4/BiOBr under visible light and optimization of parameters by response surface methodology

        The degradation of cefazolin (CFZ) by Ag3PO4/BiOBr composites under visible-light irradiation wasexplored. The main and interaction of parameters (catalyst dosage, pH, CFZ initial concentration anddegradation time) on removal of CFZ were studied by Box–Behnken design combined with responsesurface methodology. The pH was the most influential factor and both h+ and OH played a role in thephotocatalytic process. The high correlation coefficients (R2 = 0.9986 and adjusted R2 = 0.9973)demonstrated closefit between the predicted and experimental values. The exceptional efficiency ofAg3PO4/BiOBr composite in removing CFZ represents a promising technique for treatment of CFZcontainingwastewater.

        Multi-time Scale Coordinated Optimization of New Energy High Permeability Power System Considering Flexibility Requirements

        The high proportion of grid-connected intermittent energy such as wind power and photovoltaic makes the demand for power system flexibility increase sharply. In order to improve the overall flexibility of new energy high permeability system and enhance the economy of power system, promote the new energy consumption of system. This paper presents a multi-time scale Coordinated optimization strategy for the new energy high permeability power system considering flexibility requirement (MTSCOSFR). This strategy makes full use of the adjustment ability of source-load-storage flexible resources and analyzes system flexibility requirements at different time scales, creates multi-time scale optimization scheduling models, including typical week operation simulation model, typical day operation simulation model, typical period operation simulation model. Puts the profit of carbon trading and the penalty cost of insufficient flexibility into the optimization goal. Adopts the idea of multi-time coordination and step-by-step optimization to solve the model. This paper sets two cases to discuss MTSCOSFR. The results show that the comprehensive cost of the typical weekly operation simulation is reduced to 2360 × 104$, the penalty cost of insufficient flexibility in the typical day operation simulation is reduced by 67%, the flexibility capacity increased by 500 MW, the regulation capacity increased by 300 MW, the ramp margin increased by 1500 MW/(5 min) −1. The proposed strategy can improve system flexibility and promote new energy consumption on the basis of ensuring system economy.

        Voltage-Dependent Residual Phase Noise of a Photodiode Measurement Based on a Two-Tone Correlation Method

        We propose a novel approach to measure the residual phase noise (RPN) of a photodiode (PD) based on a two-tone correlation method. Compared with the previous measurements of the RPNs of PDs, this method is more convenient in practical application. In this method, two microwave sources and other components were placed in two isolated links sharing the same PD, so the noises of them were uncorrelated. With an FFT analyzer, the uncorrelated noises could be mostly suppressed while only the RPN of the PD was preserved. Voltage-dependent nonlinearities of PDs were studied previously. In this letter, we investigate the relationship between the RPN of the PD and the bias voltage on the PD. By changing the bias voltage, the difference of the RPN can be up to 10 dB.
