The author selected and surveyed 547 of volunteer school teachers in Taegu city to collect the basic data of their dental health and the needs for prosthetic demands. Among them 169 peoples were elementary school teachers, 237 peoples were middle school teachers and 141 peoples were educational service personnels. They had a detail oral examination and a 17-items of questionnaire. All collected data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and chi-square test in SPSS/PC^+ program. The results of these were summarized as follows; The DMFT rate was 85.1% and DMFT index was 4.82 in all subjects, but there was no significant difference among 3types of occupation in DMFT index(P>0.05). The simplified oral hygiene index was 0.76 in male and 0.33 in female subjects(P<0.05). Average toothbrushing frequency of all subjects in a daywas 2.24. There was statistical difference among 3types of occupation in a daily toothbrushing frequencies(X^2=13.21, p<0.05). Those who brushed for longer than 3 minutes were only 4.21%, and 7.5% of subjects used the rolling technic correctly. Subjects who had experienced toothache during last one year were 42.96% and 77.1% had treated their oral symptoms at dental clinics. The mean frequency of visiting the dental clinics of all subjects was 0.64 per year. The reasons for avoiding dental treatment were as follows; lack of time for treatment(33.10%), no need for treatment(27.55%), Troublesome to go to the dentist's(13.66%), fear(12.04%), and economic limitation(6.71%). The rate of experiencing dental prosthetics was 49.18%. Among them male(53.37%) was highter than female(41.36%). The mean score of having simple crown and crown & bridge was 1.31 per person and full denture was 0.07 per person. The need for prosthetic treatment, the crown & bridge was 0.33 per person and 0.03 per person of partial and full denture.

This paper proposes an automated crack evaluation technique for a high-rise bridge pier using a climbing robot. The proposed technique enables to automatically detect and quantify the bridge pier cracks even where cannot easily access by human for visual inspection. To achieve it, high quality images are obtained by scanning the vision cameras embedded on the climbing robot along the bridge pier surface. Then, a feature extraction-based image stitching algorithm is newly developed and applied for establishing the entire region of interest (ROI) images. The ROI images are then processed with a semantic segmentation algorithm for automated crack detection. Finally, the detected cracks are precisely quantified by a crack quantification algorithm. The proposed technique is validated using in-situ test data obtained from Jang-Duck bridge located at Gangneung city, South Korea. The test results reveal that the proposed technique successfully evaluate the bridge pier cracks with precision of 90.92 % and recall of 97.47 %.
드론 및 등반 로봇을 활용한 교량의 딥러닝 기반 균열 평가

본 연구는 드론 및 등반 로봇을 활용하여 취득한 사회기반시설물 영상에 대해 딥러닝 기반으로 균열을 평가하는 기법을 제안한다. 디지털 카메라를 부착한 드론과 등반 로봇 시스템을 구축 및 활용하여 교량의 고교각에 발생한 균열을 계측하기 위한 각 시스템의 장단점을 비교 분석하였으며, 분석한 장단점을 기반으로 각 시스템에 적합한 딥러닝 네트워크를 개발하여 균열을 자동으로 검출 및 평가하였다. 본 제안 기술은 강원도 춘천시에 있는 등선교와 강릉시에 있는 장덕교에서 각각 드론과 등반 로봇을 활용하여 실험적으로 검증하였다. This paper presents a deep learning-based crack evaluation of civil infrastructures using drone and robot. Digital camera-embedded drone and climbing robot systems were developed for the automated crack evaluation of high-rise bridge piers. The optimal deep learning networks for the drone and climbing robot were proposed by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of each system. The proposed techniques were experimentally validated using the drone and climbing robot systems at the Deung-Seon bridge in Chuncheon city and the Jang-Duck bridge in Gangneung city, South Korea.

Background and Objectives: The relationship between operator volume and outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) has not been fully investigated. We aimed to investigate the relationship between operator PCI volume and in-hospital outcomes after primary PCI for STEMI. Methods: Among the total of 44,967 consecutive cases of PCI enrolled in the Korean nationwide, retrospective registry (K-PCI registry), 8,282 patients treated with PCI for STEMI by 373 operators were analyzed. PCI volumes above the 75th percentile (>30 cases/year), between the 75th and 25th percentile (10–30 cases/year), and below the 25th percentile (<10 cases/year) were defined as high, moderate, and low-volume operators, respectively. In-hospital outcomes including mortality, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI), stent thrombosis, stroke, and urgent repeat PCI were analyzed. Results: The average number of primary PCI cases performed by 373 operators was 22.2 in a year. In-hospital mortality after PCI for STEMI was 571 cases (6.9%). In-hospital outcomes by operator volume showed no significant differences in the death rate, cardiac death, non-fatal MI, and stent thrombosis. However, the rate of urgent repeat PCI tended to be lower in the high-volume operator (0.6%) than in the moderate-(0.7%)/low-(1.5%) volume operator groups (p=0.095). The adjusted odds ratios for adverse in-hospital outcomes were similar in the 3 groups. Multivariate analysis also showed that operator volume was not a predictor for adverse in-hospital outcomes. Conclusions: In-hospital outcomes after primary PCI for STEMI were not associated with operator volume in the K-PCI registry.

Background/Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of diabetes mellitus (DM) on in-hospital and 1-year mortality in patients who suffered acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and underwent successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods: Among 5,074 consecutive patients from the Korea AMI Registry with successful revascularization between November 2005 and June 2007, 1,412 patients had a history of DM. Results: The DM group had a higher mean age prevalence of history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, ischemic heart disease, high Killip class, and diagnoses as non-ST elevation MI than the non-DM group. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and creatinine clearance were lower in the DM group, which also had a significantly higher incidence of in-hospital and 1-year mortality of hospital survivors (4.6% vs. 2.8%, p = 0.002; 5.0% vs. 2.5%, p < 0.001). A multivariate analysis revealed that independent predictors of in-hospital mortality were Killip class IV or III at admission, use of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin-II receptor blockers, LVEF, creatinine clearance, and a diagnosis of ST-elevated MI but not DM. However, a multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that DM was an independent predictor of 1-year mortality (hazard ratio, 1.504; 95% confidence interval, 1.032 to 2.191). Conclusions: DM has a higher association with 1-year mortality than in-hospital mortality in patients with AMI who underwent successful PCI. Therefore, even when patients with AMI and DM undergo successful PCI, they may require further intensive treatment and continuous attention.
