A program to design a small capacity wind turbine blade is proposed in this study. The program is based on a matlab GUI environment and designed to perform blade design based on the blade element momentum theory. The program is different from other simulation tools available in a point that it can analyze the side-furling power regulation mechanism and also has an algorithm to find out optimal torque schedule above the rated wind speed region. The side-furling power regulation is used for small-capacity horizontal axis wind turbines because they cannot use active pitch control due to high cost which is commonly used for large-capacity wind turbine. Also, the torque schedule above the rated wind speed region should be different from that of the large capacity wind turbines because active pitching is not used. The program developed in this study was validated with the results with FAST which is the only program that can analyze the performance of side-furled wind turbines. For the validation a commercial 10 kW wind turbine data which is available in the literature was used. From the validation, it was found that the performance prediction from the proposed simple program is close to those from FAST. It was also found that the optimal torque scheduling from the proposed program was found to increase the turbine power substantially. Further experimental validation will be performed as a future work.

Recently, higher speeds have been promoted in old overhead-lines. For high-speed operation in electric rail ways, increasing contact loss of the pantograph is one of the most important subjects. The contact loss causes power interruption and increases wear of contact strips and contact wires. In order to investigate the causes of contact loss and to work out effective improvement methods, theoretical analyses, experiments have been carried out. First of all, the wave propagating velocity (phase velocity) and characteristics of contact wire are one of the important indices for the current collecting performance. In this paper, mathematical formula are derived for the prediction of the traveling wave velocity. The measured values in the experiment agree well with the theoretical predictions.

Our study analyzed 95 solid organ transplant (SOT) and 78 hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients with prior coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Patients who underwent transplantation within 30 days of COVID-19 infection comprised the early group, and those who underwent transplantation post-30 days of COVID-19 infection comprised the delayed group. In the early transplantation group, no patient, whether undergoing SOT and HSCT, experienced COVID-19-associated complications. In the delayed transplantation group, one patient each from SOT and HSCT experienced COVID-19-associated complications. Additionally, among early SOT and HSCT recipients, two and six patients underwent transplantation within seven days of COVID-19 diagnosis, respectively. However, no significant differences were observed in the clinical outcomes of these patients compared to those in other patients. Early transplantation following severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection can be performed without increased risk of COVID-19-associated complications. Therefore, transplantation needs not be delayed by COVID-19 infection.

Background: Galgeun-tang used in traditional Korean medicine, is a mixture of the medicinal plants Cinnamomi Ramulus, Ephedrae Herba and Puerariae Radix, and has been prescribed for the treatment of various ailments, including fever. Although the use of traditional medicinal herbs to treat diseases has recently increased, their safety and toxicity profiles incompletely elucidated. Thus, we evaluated Galgeun-tang’s toxicity in male and female Sprague-Dawley rats. Methods and Results: Galgeun-tang (1,000, 2,000 and 4,000 ㎎/㎏) was orally administered to rats for 13 weeks, and then, they were maintained for 4 weeks without administration (recovery period). Their clinical signs, and hematological and urinary properties, were monitored. The results showed that Galgeun-tang administeration slightly increased serum creatinine, urea nitrogen and, aspartate aminotransferase levels. Additionally, 2,000 and 4,000 ㎎/㎏ Galgeun-tang significantly increased urinary bilirubn and protein levels of male and female rats, which were restored during the recovery period. Conclusions: The no-observed-adverse-effect level of orally administered Galgeun-tang was 4,000 ㎎/㎏ in both female and male rats, and no target organs were identified. In addition, 400 ㎎/㎏ was found to be the no-observed-effect level for toxicity under the study conditions.

This study identifies the major coupling path by examining the variation of the coupled acoustic modal frequencies and modes. A 1/2-size acryl compartment model is designed and manufactured for the measurement and analysis of coupled acoustic modes. Due to acoustic coupling, a new acoustic mode appears in a low frequency range. This coupling affects only longitudinal acoustic modes of compartment. Experimental result shows that the package tray holes contribute to the coupling much more than the back seat and hole size is an important design factor to control low frequency acoustic modes in the coupled system.
다이오드 검출기를 이용한 초소형 X선관(Miniature X-ray Tube)의 반가층 측정

X선은 방사선 진단과 치료 분야에 있어서 다양하고 광범위하게 이용되고 있으며, 최근에는 방사선 치료용 초소형 X선관이 개발되었다. 초소형 X선관은 조사 목적 부위에 직접 삽입하여 사용되므로 제작 시준기에 따라 다양한 각도로 X선 조사가 가능하고, 검사 목적 외의 환자 피폭선량을 최소화한다. 이러한 초소형 X선관의 장점을 이용해서 X선 영상을 획득하는데 적용한다면 X선 진단 분야의 새로운 장을 열 것으로 기대된다. 하지만 초소형 X선관은 본래 치료용으로 설계되었기 때문에 진단용 장비에 적합한 시준기, 필터(added filter) 등이 필요하다. 따라서 자체 제작한 시준기와 필터를 적용하여 초소형 X선관의 빔 특성이 진단용에 적합한지 평가 하였고, 이를 위해서 다이오드 검출기를 이용하여 반가층을 측정하고 측정의 가능성을 평가하였다. 본 연구에서는 Si PIN Photodiode type인 Piranha 검출기(Piranha, RTI, Sweden)를 사용하여 필터 적용 유무에 따른 초소형 X선관의 반가층을 측정하고, 알루미늄 필터를 사용한 측정을 통하여 Piranha 검출기의 반가층 측정의 정확성을 평가하였다. 측정 결과에 따르면 초소형 X선관의 반가층은 필터의 장착에 따라 약 1.9배 증가하여 진단용 방사선 발생 장치의 적합성을 확인하였다. Piranha 검출기의 반가층 자동 측정값은 필터를 미장착한 경우에 실제 반가층 측정값에 비해 50% 높게 측정되어 적용이 불가능하나, 필터를 장착한 경우에는 실제 반가층 측정값과 약 15%의 차이로 감소되었다. 따라서 진단용 필터를 적용했을 경우는 Piranha 검출기의 반가층 자동측정이 가능하여 kV-X선 특성평가를 수월하게 수행할 것으로 기대된다. The X ray has been widely used in both diagnosis and treatment. Recently, a miniature X ray tube has been developed for radiotherapy. The miniature X ray tube is directly inserted into the body irradiated, so that X rays can be guided to a target at various incident angles according to collimator geometry and, thus, minimize patient dose. If such features of the miniature X ray tube can be applied to development of X ray imaging as well as radiation treatment, it is expected to open a new chapter in the field of diagnostic X ray. However, the miniature X ray tube requires an added filter and a collimator for diagnostic purpose because it was designed for radiotherapy. Therefore, a collimator and an added filter were manufactured for the miniature X ray tube, and mounted on. In this study, we evaluated beam characteristics of the miniature X ray tube for diagnostic X ray system and accuracy of measuring the HVL. We used the Si PIN Photodiode type Piranha detector (Piranha, RTI, Sweden) and estimated the HVL of the miniature X ray tube with added filter and without added filter. Through an another measurement using Al filter, we evaluated the accuracy of the HVL obtained from a direct measurement using the automatic HVL calculation function provided by the Piranha detector. As a result, the HVL of the miniature X ray tube was increased around 1.9 times with the added filter mounted on. So we demonstrated that the HVL was suitable for diagnostic X ray system. In the case that the added filter was not mounted on, the HVL obtained from use of the automatic HVL calculation function provided by Piranha detector was 50% higher than the HVL estimated using Al filter. Therefore, the HVL automatic measurement from the Piranha detector cannot be used for the HVL calculation. However, when the added filter was mounted on, the HVL automatic measurement value using the Piranha detector was approximately 15% lower than the estimated value using Al filter. It implies that the HVL automatic measurement can be used to estimate the HVL of the miniature X ray tube with the added filter mounted on without a more complicated measurement method using Al filter. It is expected that the automatic HVL measurement provided by the Piranha detector enables to make kV-X ray characterization easier.
A Divalent Immunotoxin Formed by the Disulfide Bond between Hinge Regions of Fab Domain

Recombinant immunotoxins are hybrid cytotoxic proteins designed to selectively kill cancer cells. A divalent immunotoxins, [B3(FabH1)-PE38]2, was constructed by recombining Fab domain of B3 antibody as a cell-targeting domain and Pseudo monas exotoxin A (PE) as a cytotoxic domain. Monoclonal antibody, B3, is the murine antibody (IgG1k) directed against Lewis Y-related carbohydrate antigens, which are abundant on the surface of many carcinomas. Fab fragment of this antibody was used in this study with the modified hinge sequence where last two cysteines out of three were mutated to serine. PE is a 66 kDa bacterial toxin that kills eukaryotic cells by inhibiting protein synthesis with ADP ribosylation of ribosomal elongation factor 2 (EF2). Fc region of B3 antibody was substituted with the truncated form of PE (38 kDa, PE38) on DNA level. [B3(FabH1)-PE38]2 was formed by disulfide bond between cysteines in the modified hinge region of B3(FabH1)-PE38. Each polypeptide for recombinant immunotoxins was overexpressed in Escherichia coli and collected as inclusion bodies. Each inclusion body was solubilized and refolded, and cytotoxic effects were measured. Divalent immunotoxins, [B3(FabH1)-PE38]2, had ID50 values of about 10 ng/mL on A431 cell lines and about 4 ng/mL on CRL1739 cell lines. Control immunotoxins, B3(scFv)-PE40, had ID50 values of about 28 ng/mL on A431 cell lines and about 41 ng/mL on CRL1739 cell lines. Divalent immunotoxins, [B3(FabH1)-PE38]2, had higher cytotoxic effects than B3(scFv)-PE40 control immunotoxins.
Neutron Radiography를 이용한 고탄소흑연강에서 붕소 분석

To study the distribution of boron and the boron effect for nucleation of graphite in high carbon steel, neutron induced autoradiography method is used. High carbon steel is easy to make the graphitization by addition of boron. It is easy to analysis of boron distribution using neutron radiography with neutron fluence of $1.9$\times${\times}10^{13}/cm^2$in the boron added high carbon steel. By the neutron induced autoradiography technique, it was found that the distribution of boron depended on boron content, graphitiging temperature and time. And by the analysis of secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) and electron probe micro analysis (EPMA), boron or boride were acted at nucleation site of graphite in high carbon steel.
