To investigate radical scavenging effects and protective activities of bitter melon (Momordica charantia) against oxidative stress, in vitro and a cellular system using LLC-PK₁ renal epithelial cells were used in this study. The butanol (BuOH) fraction of bitter melon scavenged 63.4% and 87.1% of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals at concentrations of 250 and 500 ㎍/mL, respectively. In addition, the BuOH fraction of bitter melon effectively scavenged hydroxyl radicals (ㆍOH). At all concentrations tested, the scavenging activity of the BuOH fraction was more potent than that of the positive control, ascorbic acid. Furthermore, under the LLC-PK₁ cellular model, the cells showed a decline in viability and an increase in lipid peroxidation through oxidative stress induced by pyrogallol, a generator of superoxide anion (O₂<sup>-</sup>). However, the BuOH fraction of bitter melon significantly and dose-dependently inhibited cytotoxicity. In addition, 3-morpholinosydnonimine (SIN-1), a generator of peroxynitrite (ONOO<sup>-</sup>) formed by simultaneous releases of nitric oxide and O₂<sup>-</sup>, caused cytotoxicity in the LLC-PK₁ cells while the BuOH fraction of bitter melon ameliorated oxidative damage induced by ONOO<sup>-</sup>. These results indicate that BuOH fraction of bitter melon has protective activities against oxidative damage induced by free radicals.

In this paper a parallel processing system using SIMD architecture is implemented for image processing. The system consists of a set of 4 PEs(Processing Elements), a CU(Control Unit), an ADG(Address Generation Unit), and an interconnection. A CU is implemented by the microprogram and controls PEs and ADG. Microprogramed CU enables to process in high speed and upgrade the flexibility of the system. For efficient addressing, next address is generated at ADG and broadcast to each PE using pipeline technique. To implement a simple interconnection, the time sharing common bus is used. The characteristics of this proposed system are ease of implementation, high speed, flexibility of the system and high expandibility of PE. To evaluate the perfomance of the system, window processing is used. The number of the expandable PEs, execution time, speed up, and efficiency are evaluated.

A 32 year-old-man suffered from chronic onset of walking difficulty due weakness in his right leg, right side hypesthesia, ptosis, scoliosis, lordosis, and urinary difficulty. He suffered from the symtoms for 14 years, ans the initiation symptom is ulceration on the shoulder, chest and back. Syringomyelia was found significantly on the C1 to T11 level and scoliotic change in thoracic vertebra by MR imaging of the spinal cord and brain.
600V급 트렌치 게이트 LDMOSFET의 전기적 특성에 대한 연구

본 논문에서는 기존의 250V급 트렌치 전극형 파워 MOSFET을 구조적으로 개선하여, 600V 이상의 순방향 항복 전압을 갖는 파워 MOSFET을 설계 하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 구조로 기존의 250V급 트렌치 전극형 파워 MOSFET에 비하여 더욱 높은 순방향 항복 전압을 얻었다. 또한, 기존의 LDMOS 구조로 500V 이상의 항복 전압을 얻기 위해서 100㎛ 이상의 크기를 필요로 했던 반면에, 본 논문에서 제안한 소자의 크기 (vertical 크기)는 50㎛로서, 소자의 소형화 및 고효율화 측연에서 더욱 우수한 특성을 얻었다. 본 논문은 2-D 공정시뮬레이터 및 소자 시뮬레이터를 바탕으로, 트렌치 옥사이드의 두께 및 폭, 에피층의 두께 변화 등의 설계변수와 이온주입 도즈 및 열처리 시간에 따른 공정변수에 대한 시뮬레이션을 수행하여, 본 논문에서 제안한 구조가 타당함을 입증하였다.
