        A New Relationship between Ownership–Control Wedge and Overinvestment Practices: Evidence from Korean Business Groups (Chaebol)

        This study examines the effects of controlling shareholders’ ownership–control wedge on firms’ overinvestment practices. In addition, it further investigates the incentive effects of controlling shareholders’ cash flow rights on firms’ overinvestment. We find a non-monotonic relation between controlling shareholders’ ownership–control wedge and a firm’s overinvestment. Specifically, the relation between controlling shareholders’ wedge and overinvestment is significant for certain wedge levels. Thus we conclude that controlling shareholders with certain levels of wedge expropriate minority shareholders’ benefits since the marginal benefit exceeds the marginal cost. We also document that cash flow rights are effective to reduce a firm’s overinvestment to certain levels.

        D2EHPA 및 Dithizone 에 의한 납의 추출평형

        납 수용액으로부터 di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid(D₂EHPA)-carbon tetrachloride와 diphenylthiocarbazone(dithizone)-chloroform을 사용한 추출평형을 측정하였다. D₂EHPA일 때 적용한계 부하비 0.05 이하에서 추출화학종은 PbR₂(RH)₂이고 평형상수는 3.0×10^(-3)이었으며, 추출제 dithizone일 때 적용한계 부하비 0.03 이하에서 추출화학종은 Pb(Dz)₂이고 평형상수는 1.2×10^(-1)이었다. 한계 부하비를 넘으면 추출화학종과 평형상수는 D₂EHPA일 때 (PbR₂)_n(RH)₂, 6×10^(-3)이고 dithizone일 때[Pb(Dz)₂]_n, 2.2[㎥/㏖]로 각각 변하였다. 식초산 완충용액을 수용액상에 가하면 추출상수는 다소 감소하였고 유기상에 계면활성제 Span #80을 첨가하면 평형상수는 약간 증가하였다. Measurements of the extraction equilibrium of lead acetate aqueous solution with di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D₂EHPA) in carbon tetrachloride, and diphenylthiocarbazone (dithizone) in chloroform were carried out at 25℃. Over the range of loading ratios less then 0.05 for D₂EHPA and 0.03 for dithizone, the extracted organic metal species and equilibrium constants were found to PbR₂(RH)₂. 3.0×10^(-3) for D₂ZEHPA and to Pb(Dz)₂. 1.2×10^(-1) for dithizone. Upon increasing the loading ratio above the threshold value, the extracted chemical species and equilibrium constants were estimated to (PbR₂)_n(RH)₂. 6×10^(-3) for D₂EHPA, and to [Pb(Dz)₂]_n, 2.2[㎥/㏖] for dithizone. The equilibrium constants were found to decrease upon adding of acetic buffers, and to a little increase by addition of Span#80.

        비행 구조물에 탑재된 정밀 기기의 능동 진동 제어

        The equipments mounted on guided-missile undertake heavy vibrational disturbance. Sometimes the equipments mounted on guided-missile go wrong so that the guided-missile flies over unintended place. For the vibration isolation of the equipments mounted on guided-missile, active vibration control was performed. In the case of active vibration technique, the stiffness matrix and the mass matrix are derived based on FEM (ANSYS5.0). Model reduction was carried out and, as a result, we got 7 DOF mass and stiffness matrix. For the sake of FEM model identification, modal experiment was carried out. With the help of Sensitivity Analysis, the natural frequencies of FEM were tuned to those of Experiment. In this work, the Sky Hook and the LQG control theory were adopted for v iteration control using stacked piezoactuator. Experiments were performed with changing excitation frequency from 10 Hz upto 200 Hz and we got frequency response function of guided-missile equipments. The magnitude of 3rd mode of guided-missile equipments is 8.6 % that of Uncontrolled in Skyhook controller and is 3.4 % that of uncontrolled in LQG controller.

        Case series of maxillary anterior bone augmentation with a novel biphasic calcium phosphate: a clinical and radiographic pilot study

        The purpose of this pilot case series was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes of employing newly developed alloplastic biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) in guided bone regeneration (GBR) for maxillary anterior peri-implant defects. Six peri-implant dehiscence defects were grafted with BCP. For all included treatment sites, clinical (defect width [DW] and defect height [DH]), radiographic (horizontal hard tissue thickness [HT]), patient discomfort, and early wound healing outcomes were evaluated. At reentry surgery, all surgical sites indicated a change in DW, DH, HT0, HT1, HT2, and HT3 from 4.08±1.39 mm to 1.13±1.76 mm, 3.57±1.42 mm to 0.58±1.09 mm, 2.18±0.66 mm to 1.50±0.53 mm, 2.11±0.57 mm to 1.73±0.28 mm, 2.22±0.54 mm to 1.75±0.26 mm, and 2.63±0.87 mm to 1.83±0.46 mm, respectively. Significant differences were discovered between paired DW and DH (p<0.05), whereas radiographic parameters had no significant differences. The severity of pain and swelling was 4.8±1.9 and 6.5±1.9, respectively, and the duration of pain and swelling was 4.5±3.8 and 5.8±2.9 days, respectively, according to early postoperative discomfort assessment. No adverse reactions occurred at any treatment site. In terms of clinical and radiographic outcomes, the newly developed BCP is acceptable biocompatible and suitable for the GBR of maxillary anterior peri-implant dehiscence defects within the limitations of this study.

      • 대화형 연산 후 수렴을 이용한 저장된 비디오의 효율적인 전송 스케줄 작성 방안

        In a video-on-Demand(VOD) service, a server has to return to he normal playback quickly at a certain new frame position after interactive operations such as jump or last playback. In this paper, we propose an efficient scheme to write a transmission schedule for a playback restart of a video stream at a new frame position after interactive operations. The proposed scheme is based on convergence characteristics, that is transmission schedules with different playback startup frame position in a video stream meet each other at some frame position. The scheme applies a bandwidth smoothing from a new frame position to a convergence position without considering all remaining frames of a video stream. And then the scheme transmits video dta according to the new schedule from the new frame position to the convergence position, and then transmits the remaining video data according to the reference schedule from the convergence position, and then transmits the remaining video data according to the reference schedule from the convergence position to the last frame position. In this paper, we showed that there existed the convergence position corresponding to nay frame position in a video stream through many experiments based on MPEG-1 bit trace data. With the convergence we reduced the computational overhead of a bandwidth smoothing, which was applied to find a new transmission schedule after interactive operations. Also, storage overhead is greatly reduced by storing pre-calculated schedule information up to the convergence position for each I frame position of a video stream with video data off-line. By saving information on a transmission schedule off-line along with the video data and searching the schedule corresponding to the specified restarting frame position, we expect the possibility of normal playback of a video stream with small tolerable playback startup delay.

      • 한국들잔디와 벤트그라스의 라이족토니아 마름병 발생에 미치는 재배조건 및 살균제의 영향

        This study is aimed to clarify on the influence of cultivated conditions and fungicides on development of Rhizoetonia diseases of zoysiagrass and creeping bentgrass and results are as follows. Infection rates of disease were observed more serious when inoculum amounts were higher than low. Effects of the watering intervals on the severity of disease with artificial inoculating conditions, infection rates were higher when two days watering interval for creeping bentgrass and one day interval for zoysiagrass. Disease severity of creeping bentgrass incited by Rhizoetonia solani AG 1 (1A) was grater under conditions of double amounts of nitrogen fertilization. A posi- tive correlation was founded between the pH and disease development. The pots with pH 5 and 8 were significantly more diseased grass than those in which the pH was in 6.5. Mepronil and myclobutanil were extremely effective against brown patch of creeping bentgrass and large patch of zoysiagrass and followed by capro, and tebeonazole. Fenari was inferior effect to both diseases.
