To investigate whether glycyrrhizae inhibits melanogenesis, we utilized B16 melanoma cells. Glycyrrhizae alone decreased the tyrosinase promoter activity of B16 melanoma cells in dose-dependent manner. Glycyrrhizae attenuated tyrosinase promoter activity and tyrosinase activity. Glycyrrhizae also prevents phosphotransferase activity of c-Jun N-termianl kinase(JNK1) and transcriptional activation of AP-1 in α-MSH-treated B16 melanoma cells. In conclusion, the current studies for the first time demonstrated that an inhibitory effect of melanogenesis by glycyrrhizae on B16 mouse melanoma cell might be a new mechanism which down-regulates JNK activity via inhibition of AP-1 activity.
Compensation of Unbalanced PCC Voltage in an Off-shore Wind Farm of PMSG Type Turbines

This paper proposes a control algorithm for permanent magnet synchronous generators with a back-to-back three-level neutral-point clamped voltage source converter in a medium-voltage off-shore wind power system under unbalanced grid conditions. Specifically, the proposed control algorithm compensates for unbalanced grid voltage at the PCC (Point of Common Coupling) in a collector bus of an off-shore wind power system. This control algorithm has been formulated based on symmetrical components in positive and negative synchronous rotating reference frames under generalized unbalanced operating conditions. Instantaneous active and reactive power is described in terms of symmetrical components of measured grid input voltages and currents. Negative sequential component of AC input current is injected into the PCC in the proposed control strategy. The amplitude of negative sequential component is calculated to minimize the negative sequential component of grid voltage under the limitation of current capability in a voltage source converter. The proposed control algorithm enables the provision of balanced voltage at the PCC resulting in the high quality generated power from off-shore wind power systems under unbalanced network conditions.

The ontogeny of gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH) and tyrosine htdroylase(TH) neuronal system in rat was investigated by means of immunohistochemistry(IHC) and in situ hybridization(ISH). GnRH system which contains irGnRH first appeared in the nasal region at embryonic day (E) 11.5 and migrated caudally into the forebrain with increasing the frtal age. TH system was first detected at (E)11.5 in the undifferentiated mesenchymal cells and then found in the brain at the following developmental periods. Development and distribution of GnRH mRNA and TH mRNA containing cell bodies by ISH was well coincided with the data of ontogeny obtained by IHC. These data described above makes us to suggest that GnRH and TH containing cells are originally developed in the peripheral nervous system amd migrated and then, detected within the brain with increasing the fetal age.

The poverty of Korean country owes to the many social and natural conditions. How can our country cast off its underdevelopment and turn to the modern society? As seen in the past, farmers' self-helping development was led to the isolated state for the spritual resurrection movement of the farmers and ended to the difficulty of realizing its purposes. The epoch making development of the country, in other words, the total agricultural revolution must be accompanied together with this movement. Starting in 1958, C.D. works selected 12 villages in 5 countries for their demonstrative examples. But their atempt and effort has deen failed in these villages, as proved in the study of the concerned statistics. As long as farmers' income does not become increased and their foundation to improve their life can not be established, the country life would never be changed. C.D. works should be directed only for the effective result of the above mentioned. It is our greatest task how to solve the striven to poverty of our country. After agricultural land refrom, 15% of all cultivating land was returned to the tenant farming land and 28.5% of all farm house was considered as the tenant farm houses at the end of 1964. Farmers are now confronted with the suppressed and miserable condition. The area, land forest and woods where farmers can cultivate and graze cattle are too small and restricted to them under the present circumstances. In this situation, we need the second farming land reform, which is able to make our famers cultivate and utilize land, field and wood which are now deserted and possessed to the Government. The foundation for farmers' self independance and helping movement is to increase their income. This stimulation will bring them the will and encouragement to develop their country. The supporting organization for this C.D. works must be established. This organization should lead and practise our C.D. works forcefully and effectively.
