        고차원 CMAC 문제의 소요 기억량 감축

        In orde to reduce huge memory requirements of multidimensional CMAC problems, building a CMAC system by problem decomposition is investigated. Decomposition is based on resolving a displacement vector in cartesian coordinates into unit vectors that define a few lower-dimensional CMACs in the CMAC system. A CMAC system for an an in verse kinematics problem for a planar manipulator was simulated and the performance of the system was evaluated in terms of training and output quality.

        Recent advances in stem cell therapeutics and tissue engineering strategies

        Background: Tissue regeneration includes delivering specific types of cells or cell products to injured tissues or organs for restoration of tissue and organ function. Stem cell therapy has drawn considerable attention since transplantation of stem cells can overcome the limitations of autologous transplantation of patient’s tissues; however, it is not perfect for treating diseases. To overcome the hurdles associated with stem cell therapy, tissue engineering techniques have been developed. Development of stem cell technology in combination with tissue engineering has opened new ways of producing engineered tissue substitutes. Several studies have shown that this combination of tissue engineering and stem cell technologies enhances cell viability, differentiation, and therapeutic efficacy of transplanted stem cells. Main body: Stem cells that can be used for tissue regeneration include mesenchymal stem cells, embryonic stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells. Transplantation of stem cells alone into injured tissues exhibited low therapeutic efficacy due to poor viability and diminished regenerative activity of transplanted cells. In this review, we will discuss the progress of biomedical engineering, including scaffolds, biomaterials, and tissue engineering techniques to overcome the low therapeutic efficacy of stem cells and to treat human diseases. Conclusion: The combination of stem cell and tissue engineering techniques overcomes the limitations of stem cells in therapy of human diseases, and presents a new path toward regeneration of injured tissues.

        공학설계에서 협동 글쓰기 가르치기

        This paper recommends to teach technical writing as a part of the curriculum of engineering design courses. Some features ofboth engineering design and keystone design course as well as capstone design course for engineering students are studied beforethe relationship of those features with written communication are investigated. After the characteristics of collaborative writing arereviewed, some aspects of integration of teaching technical writing into engineering design courses are evaluated. Technical writingfor engineering students is best taught by collaborative writing approach in engineering design courses.

        Dependence of the 1/f Noise Characteristics of CMOSFETs on Body Bias in Sub-threshold and Strong Inversion Regions

        In this paper, the 1/f noise characteristics of n-channel MOSFET (NMOSFET) and p-channel MOSFET (PMOSFET) are analyzed in depth as a function of body bias. The normalized drain current noise, SID/ID2 showed strong dependence on the body bias in the sub-threshold region for both NMOSFET and PMOSFET, and NMOSFET showed stronger dependence than PMOSFET on the body bias. On the contrary, both of NMOSFET and PMOSFET do not exhibit the dependence of SID/ID2 on body bias in strong inversion region, although the noise mechanisms of two MOSFETs are different from each other.

        Role of stem cell mobilization in the treatment of ischemic diseases

        Stem cell mobilization plays important roles in the treatment of severe ischemic diseases, including myocardial infarction, limb ischemia, ischemic stroke, and acute kidney injury. Stem cell mobilization refers to the egress of heterogeneous stem cells residing in the bone marrow into the peripheral blood. In the clinic, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) is the drug most commonly used to induce stem cell mobilization. Plerixafor, a direct antagonist of CXCR4, is also frequently used alone or in combination with G-CSF to mobilize stem cells. The molecular mechanisms by which G-CSF induces stem cell mobilization are well characterized. Briefly, G-CSF activates neutrophils in the bone marrow, which then release proteolytic enzymes, such as neutrophil elastase, cathepsin G, and matrix metalloproteinase 9, which cleave a variety of molecules responsible for stem cell retention in the bone marrow, including CXCL12, VCAM-1, and SCF. Subsequently, stem cells are released from the bone marrow into the peripheral blood. The released stem cells can be collected and used in autologous or allogeneic transplantation. To identify better conditions for stem cell mobilization in the treatment of acute and chronic ischemic diseases, several preclinical and clinical studies have been conducted over the past decade on various mobilizing agents. In this paper, we are going to review methods that induce mobilization of stem cells from the bone marrow and introduce the application of stem cell mobilization to therapy of ischemic diseases.

        CMAC의 S-to-M 변환을 위한 알고리즘

        In order to develop an efficient algorithm for S-to-M mapping in CMCA, characteristics of CMCA mappings is studied and conceptual mapping procedure is physically described. Then, careful observations on the mapping procedure and experience reveal a simple algorithm of the S-to-M mapping. The algorithm is described and compared with other procedures for S-to-M mapping. It is found very efficient in terms of computational operations and processing time.

        Fluorine 주입에 따른 NMOSFET의 소자 특성 연구

        In this paper, we investigated the device performance on fluorine implantation, hot carrier reliability and RTS (random telegraph signal) noise characteristics of NMOSFETs. The capacitance of the fluorine implanted NMOSFET decreased due to the increase of the gate oxide thickness. RTS noise characteristics of the fluorine implated NMOSFET was improved approximately by 46% due to the decrease of trap density at Si/$SiO_2$ interface. The improved gate oxide quality also results in the longer hot carrier life time.

        ‌글말 의사소통 모델의 합성

        A spatial communication model which aids the intuitive understanding of the characteristics of written communication is developed by studying the information on which some existing communication models were based, geometric features of the figures or diagrams consisting the models, and the relationship of the figures or diagrams. First, the communication square is synthesized based on the communication triangle and the triangle of meaning. Then, the relationship between the square and the text triangle consisting of subject, purpose, and symbol is explored to build a communication cube. After the cube is positioned within the context space which is social environments where texts are produced, the spatial communication model is complete. Some basic knowledge of communication, meaning, text and context theories is enough to recognize what the model describes. 기존 의사소통 모델들의 배경이 되는 정보와 모델을 구성하는 도형들의 기하학적 특성 및 그 도형들 사이의 관계를 연구하여 글말(문자) 의사소통의 특성을 직관적으로 이해하는데 도움이 될 입체 의사소통 모델을 개발한다. 의사소통 삼각형과 의미 삼각형을 바탕으로 의사소통 사각형이 합성되고, 그것과 텍스트 삼각형과의 관계에 의해 의사소통 육면체가 합성되며, 그 육면체를 의사소통 매질이 되는 맥락 공간이 둘러싸게 해서 만들어진 것이 새 의사소통 모델이다. 의사소통, 의미, 텍스트 및 맥락 관련 기초적인 이론들을 이해하면 새 모델이 묘사하는 바를 쉽게 이해할 수 있다.

        공학글쓰기 이해

        Engineering students are to learn disciplinary writing course due to the curriculum for ABEEK. Many problems are reported with regard to teaching the writing courses for engineering students. First, what the disciplinary writing is studied. After discussing the characteristics of engineering, engineering design, and both engineering students and engineers in terms of writing education, the course objectives and contents are suggested. The features of technical writing helpful for developing the engineering writing course are summarized while the weakness of science writing in terms of teaching the engineering writing is noted. Then, the way of teaching the engineering writing in parallel with the engineering design course is discussed. In conclusion, the engineering writing should be taught so that students are able to deal with writing tasks while taking the Capstone Design course during the senior year. 공학교육인증제도의 시행으로 인해 공과대학 학생들은 기초글쓰기를 배운 후 전공글쓰기를 배우는데, 그 과목이 여러 면에서 부실하다는 지적이 많다. 전공글쓰기는 어떤 과목이어야 하는지에 대해 조사한 후, 글쓰기 교육의 관점에서 공학, 설계 및 공대생과 엔지니어의 특성들을 살펴서 공학글쓰기의 교육목표와 내용을 제시하고, 공학글쓰기 교육에 참고할 technical writing의 특성을 요약하며, 특히 공학글쓰기 관점에서 science writing의 문제점을 지적한 뒤, 공학글쓰기를 공학설계와 병행하여 가르치는 데 대해 토의하였다. 공학글쓰기는 캡스톤디자인을 이수하는 데 필요한 글말 의사소통 수요를 감당할 수 있는 기량을 기르는 것을 목표로 한다.
