IRI estimation using analysis of dynamic tire pressure and axle acceleration

Yubo Zhao,J. Gregory McDaniel,Ming L. Wang 국제구조공학회 2017 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.19 No.2

A new method is developed to estimate road profile in order to estimate IRI based on the ASTM standard. This method utilizes an accelerometer and a Dynamic Tire Pressure Sensor (DTPS) to estimate road roughness. The accelerometer measures the vertical axle acceleration. The DTPS, which is mounted on the tire\' s valve stem, measures dynamic pressure inside the tire while driving. Calibrated transfer functions are used to estimate road profile using the signals from the two sensors. A field test was conducted on roads with different quality conditions in the city of Brockton, MA. The IRI values estimated with this new method match the actual road conditions measured with Pavement Condition Index (PCI) based on the ASTM standard, images taken from an onboard camera and passengers\' perceptions. IRI has negative correlation with PCI in general since they have overlapping features. Compared to the current method of IRI measurement, the advantage of this method is that a) the cost is reduced; b) more space is saved; c) more time is saved; and d) mounting the two sensors are universally compatible to most cars and vans. Therefore, this method has the potential to provide continuous and global monitoring the health of roadways.

Zhao Can,Tao GuangFu,Liu Yubo,Guo Yanyan 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.8

To analyze the influence caused by different cutting parameters on the cutting force and get the coefficient of milling force obtained under the state of high-speed milling, the high-speed milling test was conducted through carbide cutting tools milling the titanium impeller under the state of high speed. Firstly, the influence on the three target force, caused by every parameter, was analyzed through orthogonal experiment. And then, the milling force coefficient got from two different formula was compared in this article. Calculated and experimental results show that the milling force coefficient got by means of the empirical formula reduced flutter stability limit, however, he milling force coefficient got by means of parsing not. At last, it also provide data to support to avoid the chatter occurred between tool and workpiece and select the processing parameters optimally.

Enhancement Method of Weak Transmission Area for Omnidirectional Wireless Power Transfer System

        Guo Bochao,Zhao Yubo,Chen Wei,Pan Shan,Tian Zijian 대한전기학회 2024 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.19 No.3

Reducing the weak transmission area (WTA) of omnidirectional transmitter in wireless power transfer is a challenge. In this paper, we propose a method to enhance the WTA with nonorthogonal coils, and two types of transmitters are made, the 90° sandglass Tx and the 20° sandglass Tx. Specifcally, a single power source is utilized to drive the current of Tx without phase and current control methodology. Power is transmitted to the receiver through magnetic resonant coupling in 50 mm. In addition, an equivalent circuit model of the sandglass Tx system is derived and mathematically analyzed. The magnetic induction density of the sandglass Tx system is evaluated via analysis and experiments. Finally, practical experimental results from the resonant coupling system confrm the theoretical analysis.

Epidemiology, Characteristics, and Prognostic Factors of Primary Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumors in the Spinal Canal: A Systematic Review

        Zhibin Li,Yubo Wang,Liyan Zhao,Yunqian Li 대한척추신경외과학회 2024 Neurospine Vol.21 No.1

Primary atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors (AT/RTs) in the spinal canal are rare central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms that are challenging to diagnose and treat. To date, there has been no standard treatment regimen for these challenging malignant tumors. Thus, we conducted this research to explore potential prognostic factors and feasible treatment modalities for improving the prognosis of these tumors. Articles were retrieved from the PubMed, MEDLINE, and Embase databases, using the keywords “atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor,” “rhabdoid tumor,” “spine,” “spinal,” “spinal neoplasm”, and “spinal cord neoplasm.” All eligible cases demonstrated SMARCB1-deficient expression validated by pathological examination. We collected and analyzed data related to clinical presentation, radiological features, pathological characteristics, treatment modalities and prognosis via Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses. Thirty-six articles comprising 58 spinal AT/RT patients were included in the study. The median progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were 18 and 22 months, respectively. Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated significant survival improvements for OS in the nonmetastasis, male, radiotherapy and intrathecal chemotherapy groups as well as for PFS in the chemotherapy and radiotherapy groups. Multivariate analysis revealed that chemotherapy and radiotherapy were prognostic factors for improved PFS, and that intrathecal chemotherapy reduced the risk of mortality. Spinal AT/RTs are uncommon malignant entities with a dismal survival rate. Although our review is limited by variability between cases, there is some evidence revealing potential risk factors and the importance of systematic chemotherapy, intrathecal chemotherapy and radiotherapy in spinal AT/RT treatment modalities.

A Novel Curved-Coil Transmitter for Quasiomnidirectional Wireless Power Transfer

        Guo Bochao,Zhao Yubo,Chen Wei,Guo Ni,Tian Zijian 한국전자파학회 2023 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.23 No.2

Achieving stable power transfer by merely relying on quasi-omnidirectional couplers is challenging. In this paper, we propose a quasi-omnidirectional wireless power transfer (QWPT) system with a novel curved-coil transmitter to achieve steady transmission performance. A single power source is used to drive the transmitter's current without using a phase and current control methodology. Power is transmitted to the receiver through magnetic resonant coupling at a distance of 50 mm. Moreover, an equivalent circuit model of the curved-coil system is derived and mathematically analyzed. The mutual inductance of the proposed QWPT system is evaluated through analysis and experiments. The experimental results for the resonant coupling system confirm the theoretical analysis of the performance of the curved-coil transmitter and quasi-omnidirectional power transfer.

Strength Prediction of a Single Tooth Bound to Composite Pre-tightened Tooth Connection (PTTC) Joints based on Different Failure Criteria

        Yifeng Gao,Fei Li,Qilin Zhao,Jiangang Gao,Yubo Hu 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.23 No.8

A method capable to predict the strength of single tooth bound to composite pre-tightened tooth connection (PTTC) joints is presented. The proposed method uses four representative failure criteria: max-stress, Tsai-Hill, Tsai-Wu and Hashin. The characteristic length method is also used to obtain prediction strengths. Three types of experiments of single PTTC joints were conducted using the following variations: 1) tooth depth, 2) tooth length, and 3) pre-tightened force. The experimental results were compared with the two-dimensional failure envelope diagram calculated using the four representative failure criteria. The physical nature and the strength predictive ability of each criterion were investigated. The obtained results show that the shear failure mode of single PTTC joint was accurately predicted by all four failure criteria. However, the Tsai-Wu criterion when compared to Maximum Stress, Tsai-Hill and Hashin criteria, exhibits better accuracy regarding the prediction strength of single PTTC joints, this is due to the fact that the Tsai-Wu criterion reflects more accurately the increase in the interlaminar shear strength caused by the transverse compressive stress.

Endogenous leptin promotes autophagy in EBSS-induced PFCs

        Deling Jiao,Zhen Yang,Lulu Wang,Binyue Hu,Jing Wang,Anyong Xu,Wenmin Cheng,Baoyu Jia,Yubo Qing,Hong-Ye Zhao,Hong-Jiang Wei 한국통합생물학회 2019 Animal cells and systems Vol.23 No.5

Leptin is an important adipokine and plays a vital role in animals. However, the role of leptin in the autophagic response of pig fibroblast cells (PFCs) has not been fully elucidated. In this study, we investigated the relationship between leptin and autophagy as well as underlying molecular basis. We found that PFCs treated with EBSS could secrete leptin, and the leptin concentration in the supernatant of leptin transgenic PFCs was higher than that of WT PFCs. We found an increase in LC3-II protein level and a decrease in p62 protein level in treated leptin transgenic PFCs compared with treated WT PFCs. Meanwhile, we observed an increase of autophagosomes by transmission electron microscopy and an enhancement of the accumulation of LC3 puncta in the cytoplasm of treated leptin transgenic PFCs, and these effects were further augmented by Baf A1 treatment. Furthermore, we detected the expression levels of 7 autophagy signaling pathway genes and 17 autophagy-related (ATG) genes by q-PCR. We found that between the two types of EBSS-treated cells 3 genes expression pattern were significantly different among the 7 autophagy signaling pathway genes and 8 genes expression pattern were significantly differernt among the ATG genes. These results indicated that leptin may promote autophagy and involving the downregulation of FOXO1 and LMNA genes via an unknown pathway which causes the upregulation of the 4 genes and the downregulation of 4 genes.
