      • MUTYH Association with Esophageal Adenocarcinoma in a Han Chinese Population

        Adenocarcinoma of esophagus (AE) is a complex disease, affected by a variety of genetic and environmental factors. Much evidence has shown that the MutY glycosylase homologue (MUTYH) plays a key role in the pathogenesis of many cancers. However, there have been no reports on influence on AE in the Han Chinese population. The objective of this study was to investigate this issue. A gene-based association study was conducted using three single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) reported in previous studies. The three SNPs (rs3219463, rs3219472, rs3219489) were genotyped in 207 unrelated AE patients and 249 healthy controls in a case-control study using polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The results revealed that the genotype distribution of rs3219472 differed between the case and control groups (OR=1.66,95%CI=1.11-2.48, P=0.012), indicating that an association may exist between MUTYH and AE. These findings support a signifcant role for MUTYH in AE pathogenesis in the Han Chinese population.

      • A Multi-attribute Keyword Retrieval Mechanism for Encrypted Cloud Data

        With the development of cloud computing technology, more and more users have outsourced their data to cloud platform. To protect the safety of these data, some encryption methods are usually used. But it is very difficult question that how to effective retrieval and to use the encrypted data, we propose a multi-attribute keyword retrieval mechanism for encrypted cloud data. In this mechanism, we first define the local feature attributes of the keywords and the global feature attributes of the document. Then, we construct the mapping relationship between keywords and document attributes according to the basic principle of inverted index algorithm and establish the security index. Based on the above steps, we improve the weight of the key words and calculate the similarity score of the document by combining the multi-attribute score function. Experiments show that this mechanism not only can effectively improve the accuracy of the data retrieval, but also can greatly reduce the bandwidth consumption of system.

        Modified Procedures for ALPPS Based on a Risk-Reduced Strategy: Paralleled Clinical Evaluation at Multiple Institutions

        Purpose: We compared the clinical outcomes of modified procedures for associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) based on a risk-reduced strategy with those of classic ALPPS procedures in treating large liver carcinoma. Materials and Methods: Short-term outcomes, increases in future liver remnant (FLR) and functional FLR (FFLR), and overall survival (OS) were compared between 45 consecutive patients treated with modified ALPPS procedures and 34 patients treated with classic ALPPS procedures. Results: Clinical outcomes after the 1st-stage operation markedly improved with the modified procedures. Although the proportions of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma were higher in the modified group, the mortality and incidence of severe complications did not increase. FLR and FFLR hypertrophy at 1 week after the 1st-stage operation were similar in both groups; however, kinetic growth rates in the modified group were lower. OS rates were similar. Conclusion: Modified ALPPS procedures could be safely applied to provide long-term survival for patients with liver cirrhosis without sufficient FLR.

      • A three-stage deep-learning-based method for crack detection of high-resolution steel box girder image

        Crack detection plays an important role in the maintenance and protection of steel box girder of bridges. However, since the cracks only occupy an extremely small region of the high-resolution images captured from actual conditions, the existing methods cannot deal with this kind of image effectively. To solve this problem, this paper proposed a novel three-stage method based on deep learning technology and morphology operations. The training set and test set used in this paper are composed of 360 images (4928 × 3264 pixels) in steel girder box. The first stage of the proposed model converted highresolution images into sub-images by using patch-based method and located the region of cracks by CBAM ResNet-50 model. The <i>Recall</i> reaches 0.95 on the test set. The second stage of our method uses the Attention U-Net model to get the accurate geometric edges of cracks based on results in the first stage. The <i>IoU</i> of the segmentation model implemented in this stage attains 0.48. In the third stage of the model, we remove the wrong-predicted isolated points in the predicted results through dilate operation and outlier elimination algorithm. The <i>IoU</i> of test set ascends to 0.70 after this stage. Ablation experiments are conducted to optimize the parameters and further promote the accuracy of the proposed method. The result shows that: (1) the best patch size of sub-images is 1024 × 1024. (2) the CBAM ResNet-50 and the Attention U-Net achieved the best results in the first and the second stage, respectively. (3) Pre-training the model of the first two stages can improve the <i>IoU</i> by 2.9%. In general, our method is of great significance for crack detection.

        Fisetin Inhibits Cell Proliferation and Induces Apoptosis via JAK/STAT3 Signaling Pathways in Human Thyroid TPC 1 Cancer Cells

        Thyroid cancer is the most important malignant tumor reported in human populations where, its treatment remains undeveloped. Fisetin, a plant flavonoid exhibits several pharmacological properties like antioxidant, antiinflammatory, and anticancer function. In the existing study, we assessed fisetin mediated cytotoxic effects and action potential of fisetin on cell proliferation in TPC-1 human cancer cells. Also, examined the apoptosis in TPC-1 cells by reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) and apoptotic morphological changes through AO/EtBr staining. Additionally, we analyzed the effects of fisetin through ELISA analysis to evaluate the caspases expression and studied JAK 1 and STAT3 signaling molecule in TPC1 cells. Our results demonstrated that fisetin stimulated apoptosis, which confirmed through reduced cell viability, improved ROS generation, altered MMP and cell cycle phases in TPC-1 cells. Further, the fisetin up-regulated the expression of caspase (3, 8, and 9) expressions in TPC-1 cells. Also, we observed the fisetin down-regulated the JAK 1 and STAT3 expression in TPC1 cells. Thus, the fisetin induced apoptosis in TPC-1 cells by the induction of oxidative damage and enhanced caspases expression by down-regulating JAK 1 and STAT3 signaling molecules. Hence, the fisetin would be considered as a beneficial therapeutic agent for the thyroid cancer treatment.

        Numerical Simulation and Measurement of Welding Residual Stresses in Orthotropic Steel Decks Stiffened with U-Shaped Ribs

        This study aims to investigate the magnitude and distribution of welding residual stresses in orthotropic steel decks stiff ened with U-shaped ribs. Numerical simulation of the welding residual stresses is performed using the thermal elastic–plastic fi nite element method. The residual stresses are subsequently measured using the hole-drilling strain-gage method. Based on the results of this study, it can be determined that: (1) The longitudinal welding residual stresses ( σ z ) in the weld zones are tensile stresses, where the peak value exceeds the minimum yield strength ( f yl ); however, relatively low compressive stresses exist in the areas located far away from the welds; (2) The stress gradient in the weld zone is steep, and the widths of the areas experiencing tensile stress are narrow; (3) In the case of the upper surface of the deck, the weld that is fi rst deposited has the highest peak stress, while similar stresses are determined for the remaining welds. In the case of the lower surface of the deck, the peak stress in the weld zones is greater than that on the upper surface; (4) In the case of the weld zone of the U-shaped ribs, the tensile stresses reach up to 1.15 f yl ; however, at locations a short distance away from the welds, the σ z varies from tensile to compressive, and fi nally transforms into a small tensile stress at the base of the U-shaped ribs. In addition, the simulated and measured σ z are compared, and the deviation between them is analyzed.

        Empirical likelihood of conditional quantile difference with left-truncated and dependent data

        We, in this paper, apply the smoothed and maximum empirical likelihood (EL) methods to construct the confdence intervals of the conditional quantile diference with left-truncated data. In particular, we prove the smoothed empirical log-likelihood ratio of the conditional quantile diference is asymptotically chi-squared when the observations with multivariate covariates form a stationary 훼-mixing sequence. At the same time, we establish the asymptotic normality of the maximum EL estimator for the conditional quantile diference. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the fnite sample behavior of the proposed methods and a real data application is provided.

        Hierarchical reinforcement learning from competitive self-play for dual-aircraft formation air combat

        The recent development of technology helps in the revolutionary war and it controls the war which is influenced by brilliant planning. The maneuver aircraft of intelligent algorithm aids the pilot to decide the particular position on the battlefield. Nowadays the hardware components of radar and missiles are widely used and the beyond visual range is the most popular method applied in air combat. The introduction of close-range air combat maneuver decisions generates the attention of researchers in artificial intelligence. Most of the existing methods are based on autonomous aircraft focused in air combat scenario but manual air combats are widely applied in dual aircraft. Based on the factors mentioned above, a novel hierarchical maneuver decision architecture is applied to a dual-aircraft close-range air combat scenario. Subsequently, the soft actor-critic algorithm is merged with competitive self-play which integrates the knowledge of sub-strategies. Further, the reinforcement learning technique is employed to achieve an approximate Nash equilibrium master strategy. The experimental results show that the hierarchical architecture exhibits good performance, symmetry, and robustness. The research generates a solution for intelligent formation of air combat in the future and guidance for manned or unmanned aircraft cooperative combat.
