Probing the Source of the Proton Mass by "Unbreaking" Scale-Chiral Symmetry

I describe a possible scenario for the origin of the proton mass in terms of the Cheshire Cat, half-skyrmions, topology change and interplay between hidden chiral-scale symmetry and induced local symmetry. This differs from the standard constituent-quark scenario. As the baryonic matter density is increased toward the vector manifestation (VM) fixed-point at which the $\rho$ mass is to vanish, the effective in-medium mass ratio $m^*_\rho/m^*_N$ tends to zero proportionally to $g^*_\rho$, where $g^*_\rho$ is the in-medium hidden gauge coupling constant. I develop the thesis that the intricacy involved in the mass generation can be decoded from experiments at RIB accelerators and data on massive compact stars.

法醫病理醫師들이 犯罪搜査에 있어 重要한 役割을 한다. 一般病理醫師들은 解剖所見에만 置重하지만 法醫病理醫師들은 剖檢所見을 事件搜査에 있어 不過部分的 資料로 利用한다. 같은 所見이라도 지니는 環境에 따라 그 解釋이 달라지기 때문이다. 現場檢査, 環境分析, 毒物檢査 등은 法醫搜査에서 없어서는 안되는 要素들이다. 法醫病理醫師가 남이 다치지 않은 屍體를 처음부터 스스로 檢査한다는 것이 얼마나 重要한 일인지를 例를 들어 說明하였다. 自然疾患과 强力犯罪와의 相互關係 特히 外傷이 比較的 輕한 境遇에 對하여 討論하였다. 훌륭한 法醫醫師가 되려면 于先 훌륭한 病理醫師여하 하지만 훌륭한 病理醫師가 반드시 훌륭한 法醫醫師일 수는 없다. 1) Yong-Myun Rho: Murder or suicide? American Literary Canon of Pre-Columbian Era in Elizabeth Chesley Baity’s Americans before Columbus

This paper analyzes the American canon of pre-Columbian era in Elizabeth Baity’s Americans before Columbus, a winner of Newbery Honor prize in 1952. As Raymond Williams pinpoints “the selective tradition” as one of the essential characteristics in canonical texts, Baity’s “selective” perspectives towards pre-Columbian Indians have been influential in making stereotypes of Indians. Devon Mihesuah elaborates twenty five stereotypes: “Indians are all alike”; “Indians were conquered because they were inferior”; “Indians have no religion”; “Indians are a vanished race” etc. On one hand, Baity has recorded meticulously the past histories of the Americas in pre-Columbian era with pictures and illustrations. On the other hand, she “selectively” agreed with the discourses in American studies: Crosby’s ecological imperialism; the settlement, not colonization, theory of the Americas; Columbus as a hero rather than bullies; the primitiveness of the Indians vs the civilization of Euro-Americans. The main audiences of Baity’s book are children attending public schools. Once familiar with the stereotypes of Indians in their early age, they will accept without doubt similar images of Indians from such college textbooks as American Roots and A New Introduction to American Studies they read within classrooms. What is missing in Baity’s book is the discourses to bridge the two big paradigms, America before Columbus and America after Columbus, from complementary standards. The addition to the missing part will keep the Newbery Honor book free from the polemics of political correctness.

항공용 안테나 하이브리드 모노펄스 레이다 시스템을 이용하여 지상 이동표적 탐지 시, 표적의 방위각 정확도는 시스템 내 채널 간 위상 불균형에 따른 모노펄스 기울기 추정 정확도에 지배적으로 영향을 받는다. 본 논문에서는 안테나와 180도 하이브리드의 물리적 길이 차이에 의한 위상 불균형을 효과적으로 보상할 수 있는 방법을 제안 하였다. 비행시험을 통하여 제안된 방법의 성능을 검증한 결과, 보상 전보다 유의한 성능개선 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. The accuracy of extracting the azimuth angle of a target is significantly affected by the error in the mono-pulse ratio of the air-borne antenna hybrid mono-pulse Radar system. This error is strongly induced by the phase imbalance between the channels of the system. In this paper, a method is proposed for effectively calibrating the phase imbalance caused by physical differences between the RF channels from the antenna to the 180° hybrid. Through a flight test, it was confirmed that the accuracy of the azimuth angle of the target is improved by using the proposed method.

Effect of Recombinant Bovine Somatotropin on Growth of Olive Flounder, Paralichthys of olivaceus

The recombinant bovine somatotropin (rBST) was administered to the oliver flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, to know the effects and optimal administration frequency and dosage of the hormone. The experiment was conducted with three different treatment groups (A, B and C) designated based on the duration and administration frequency of rBST and one control (D) from April 14, 1996 to March 16, 1997. The fish of hormone treated groups grew 7.86 to 10.07% (47.45 to 60.75 g in weight) better than the control at the end of the experiment (P<0.05). No significant differences in their growth were detected among treatment groups. The distinct growth improvement was recognized four weeks after completion of the first four hormone administration. When considering water temperatures measured from the experimental tanks, the effect of rBST on the flounder was greater during the period showing relatively lower temperature. The survival rates were higher in treatment groups than in the control, revealing 98.3% (A), 98.4% (B), 97.7% (C) and 93.1% (D) during the first stage of culture; 92.7% (A), 91.3% (B), 86.7% (C) and 80.0% (D) during the second stage of culture.

A Study on the Use of Preferable Textual Enhancement Techniques From L2 Learners in the Movie Before Sunset

This study aims to examine whether textual enhancement (TE) saliency leads to second-language learning and to determine whether different types of TE influence second-language learning. The study invited three advanced level college students as participants using material from the movie Before Sunset (Linklater, 2004). In this case study, Participant A used an underline format, Participant B used a story map, and Participant C used a color-code format. They each had four tests (showing a TE strategy, form recalling, content remembering, and language completion rate). The results showed that each participant successfully used their individual TE strategy. Since Participant A primarily focused on language, his second test results were good, but his scores declined two and four weeks later. Participant C primarily paid attention to content; she performed well in a test relevant to the content but was the worst in language tests. Participant B performed the best across all tests because she focused on both language and content. This study suggests that attention is necessary for second-language learning, but that attention should be paid to form and meaning simultaneously. When it combines form and meaning, TE will be effective in secondlanguage learning.

Two Cases of Plasma Cell Cheilitis Treated with Intralesional Injection of Corticosteroids

Plasma cell cheilitis is a rare inflammatory disorder which shows a dense, band-like infiltrate of plasma cells in the upper dermis, Although the histological picture is shard with other diseases of the lips, plasma cell cheilitis is not associated with any known dermatoses. Some authors have shown the effectiveness of topical or intralesional corticosteroids; however, there have been many reports describing poor therapeutic response to topical steroids. We describe two patients with plasma cell chielitis whose clinical condition responded rapidly to the intralesional injection of corticosteroids.

Inquiry on the Potential of Word Processor to Enhance the Writing Processes of Students with Learning Disabilities

이 논문은 워드 프로세서가 학습장애 학생의 작문향상에 어떻게 이용될 수 있을 가를 작문의 3 단계(흔히 시작, 전이, 검토단계로 나뉨)에 걸쳐 논의하였다. 학습장애 학생은 학습활동의 기초 능력인 글 쓰기와 읽기에 문제를 갖고있으며 이러한 기초능력의 부족은 그들 학습의 전반에 걸쳐 영향을 미친다. 글 쓰기 시작 단계에서 워드 프로세서는 글의 소재를 생산하고 정리하는데 도움을 제공한다. 전이 단계에서는 작가의 생각을 쉽게 옮겨 적게 하고 쓴 내용을 가지고 작가의 의도에 따라 실험하고 재구성하기 쉽도록 하는 워드 프로세서의 기능으로 인해 학습장애 학생의 작문과정을 용이하게 한다. 검토단계에서 워드 프로세서는 글 쓰기에서의 단순 반복작업 및 고도의 정신능력이 요구되는 글의 수정 과정에 큰 도움을 제공한다. 글의 내용을 명료히 보여주는 워드 프로세서의 기능은 글 쓰기의 모든 단계에서 자신의 글 내용을 반성하고 타인에게 보여주어 의견을 수렴하게 하는 방법을 통해 유용하게 활용 될 수 있다. 작문단계에서 적절히 활용될 수 있는 여러 소프트웨어의 사용은 학습 장애 학생을 위한 작문 수업의 계획시 고려할 필요가 있다. 워드 프로세서 기능의 적용은 작문수업을 위한 교수-학습 전략과 함께 적합하게 사용될 때 보다 큰 효과를 볼 수 있다. The purpose of this paper is to discuss how a word processor can be used in writing instructions for learning disability. A word processor can effectively be used in three phases of writing such as planning, translating, and reviewing. In the planning stage, students produce ideas for writings and they can use a word processor for this activity. In the translating stage, students can use the program for transferring their ideas into writings, and structuring and restructuring their writing easily. In the reviewing stage, the program helps students by reducing their burdens of simple and repeated writing activities. Students can spend their time and efforts on the higher level of cognitive activity such as changing the macro-structure of their writings. The effect of using a word processor for a writing instruction can be maximized when appropriate writing strategies are applied together

In § 1, we review the Schwarz-Pick lemma, the concept of M□bius distance and the concept of P oincar□ distance. In § 2, we deal with the Carath□odory pseudodistance and the Carath□odory -Reiffen pseudometic as an invariant objects. In § 3, we introduce the Lempert function and the Kobayashi pseudodistance which are cintractible under holomorphic mappings. The concepts of hyperbolicity and taut is also introduced. Further, we will prove Theorem 3.6. In § 4, we deal with the Kobayashi-Royden pseudometric, the product property and the integrated form of invariant pseudometrics. In particular, we prove Theorem 4.6 which is a property of taut domain in complex euclidean spsce. In § 5, we deal with the Kobayashi simple domain which may deduce from the Lempert's results. Futher, we prove Theorem 5.1 and Theorem 5.2.
