( Xuan Thanh Nguyen ),( Ba Tung Nguyen ),( Khac Phong Do ),( Quang Hung Bui ),( Thi Nhat Thanh Nguyen ),( Van Quynh Vuong ),( Thanh Ha Le ) 한국정보처리학회 2015 Journal of information processing systems Vol.11 No.1
This paper presents the applications of Kriging spatial interpolation methods for meteorologic variables, including temperature and relative humidity, in regions of Vietnam. Three types of interpolation methods are used, which are as follows: Ordinary Kriging, Universal Kriging, and Universal Kriging plus Digital Elevation model correction. The input meteorologic data was collected from 98 ground weather stations throughout Vietnam and the outputs were interpolated temperature and relative humidity gridded fields, along with their error maps. The experimental results showed that Universal Kriging plus the digital elevation model correction method outperformed the two other methods when applied to temperature. The interpolation effectiveness of Ordinary Kriging and Universal Kriging were almost the same when applied to both temperature and relative humidity.

This study explores the adsorption of doxycycline (DOX) from aqueous solutions onto biochar derived from banana peel, which was prepared using a potassium hydroxide activation method (KOH-BPB). The biochar properties were characterized based on morphology, surface area (SBET of 710.241 ㎡ g−1), functional groups, and surface charge (pHPZC = 7.7). Parameters, including initial pH, DOX concentration, and ionic strength, that influenced the DOX adsorption capacity of KOH-BPB were examined. Adsorption equilibrium of DOX on KOH-BPB was assessed through four isothermal models: the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin-Radushkevich models. The obtained data were most compatible with the Langmuir model (R² = 0.9879). KOH-BPB has a maximum DOX absorption capacity of 121.95 mg g-1 which exceeds that of many comparable absorbents. The maximum DOX removal was 96.7% at pH 6, a DOX concentration of 20 mg L-1, and a KOH-BPB dose of 1.0g L-1. These findings reveal that biochar from banana peel effectively removes antibiotic residues from water. This study provides a potential, low-cost, and environmentally friendly adsorbent.

Purpose: This study aims to identify factors affecting the adoption of e-commerce by household businesses in Vietnam s food and beverage industry. Research design, data and methodology: The integrated TAM and TOE frameworks and ten hypotheses were developed to test the relationship between relevant factors. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to collect valid data from 992 respondents who run F&B household businesses in Vietnam. Results: The empirical research results confirm all proposed hypotheses that e-commerce adoption is affected by the perceived usefulness, the perceived ease of use, vendor support partners, social expectancy, competitive pressure, subjective norm, and household resources. Meanwhile, technical readiness, environment readiness, and organization readiness are intermediate variables that influence the implementation of e-commerce in food and beverage distribution. Conclusions: The findings suggest effective orientations to foster the food and beverage e-trading practice for household businesses in developing countries. Accordingly, to encourage private household businesses to adopt e-commerce, it is necessary to focus on improving business resources, technology readiness, environment readiness, and organization readiness through raising awareness of usefulness, benefits, perceived ease of use, and increased support of vendor partners. Future research can focus on improving the efficiency of e-commerce applications in F&B distribution for both household businesses and larger-scale enterprises.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The adsorption of a complex mixture of 12 selected pharmaceuticals to trimethylsilylated mesoporous SBA-15 (TMS-SBA-15) has been investigated by batch adsorption experiments. The adsorption of pharmaceuticals to TMS-SBA-15 was highly dependent on the solution pH and pharmaceutical properties (i.e., hydrophobicity (log <I>K</I> ow) and acidity (p<I>K</I> a)). Good log–log linear relationships between the adsorption (<I>K</I> d) and pH-dependent octanol–water coefficients ( K ow pH ) were then established among the neutral, anionic, and cationic compounds, suggesting hydrophobic interaction as a primary driving force in the adsorption. In addition, the neutral species of each compound accounted for a major contribution to the overall compound adsorption onto TMS-SBA-15. The adsorption kinetics of pharmaceuticals was evaluated by the nonlinear first-order and pseudo-second-order models. The first-order model gave a better fit for five pharmaceuticals with lower adsorption capacity, whereas the pseudo-second-order model fitted better for seven pharmaceuticals having higher adsorption capacity. In the same group of properties, pharmaceuticals having higher adsorption capacity exhibited faster adsorption rates. The rate-limiting steps for adsorption of pharmaceuticals onto TMS-SBA-15 are boundary layer diffusion and intraparticle diffusion including diffusion in mesopores and micropores. In addition, the adsorption of pharmaceuticals to TMS-SBA-15 was not influenced by the change of initial pharmaceutical concentration (10–100μgL−1) and the presence of natural organic matter.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Trimethylsilylated SBA-15 for adsorptive removal of a mixture of 12 pharmaceuticals. </LI> <LI> Hydrophobic interaction as a primary driving force in the adsorption. </LI> <LI> The rate-limiting steps were diffusion through boundary layer, mesopores and micropores. </LI> <LI> Adsorption efficiency was not changed as pharmaceutical concentration varied. </LI> <LI> Adsorption efficiency was not influenced by the presence of natural organic matters. </LI> </UL> </P>

Momordica charantia is used to treat various diseases, including inflammatory conditions. Previous reports indicated that the extract of this plant inhibits activation of nuclear transcription factor-jB (NF-jB) but activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR). Additionally, cucurbitane-type triterpene glycosides are the main bioactive components of the fruit of M. charantia. Therefore, we investigated the anti-inflammatory activity of 17 cucurbitane-type triterpene glycosides (1–17) isolated from this plant. Their inhibition of NF-jB and activation of PPAR activities in HepG2 cells were measured using luciferase reporter and PPAR subtype transactivation assays. Compounds 6 and 8 were found to inhibit NF-jB activation stimulated by tumor necrosis factor-a (TNFa) in a dose-dependent manner. With 50% inhibition concentration (IC50) values of 0.4 lM, compounds 6 and 8 were more potent inhibitors than the positive control, sulfasalazine (IC50 = 0.9lM). Compounds 4, 6, and 8 also inhibited TNFa-induced expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2mRNA. However, only compound 13 significantly increased PPARc transactivation.
