Effect of a Silicone Defoamant on the Motion of Single Air Bubbles Rising in Lubricant

The velocity and motion of single air bubbles rising through lubricant have been experimentally investigated to test the effect of silicon defoamant The investigation reveals that the velocity is markedly retarded by the addition of small amount of silicone defoamant. This retardation of rising velocity of air bubbles is proposed by increasing of Drag force or reducing of Buoyancy force around the surfaces of the bubbles.
Oxidation Stability of PAO Oils Determined by Differential Scanning Calorimetry

The suitability of a pressure differential scanning calorimetry (PDSC) in monitoring the quality of synthetic base fluids has been investigated using polyalphaolefin (PAO) oils as an example. Induction period meassured at 170, 180 and 19$0^{\circ}C$, and 3.53 MPa oxygen pressure was applied to characterize their oxidation stability. The PDSC method has proven to be simple and repeatable and requires only small sample size for testing. More importantly, it can be applied in differentiating the oxidation performance quality of PAO oils and is versatile enough for use in studying kinetic aspects of PAO oil oxidation which include the effect of temperature and antioxidant concentration. Additionally, the method appears to correlate well with a rotary bomb oxidation test (RBOT).

To improve lubricity, Zn-DTP and Mo-complex are used in lubricant as anti-wear additive and friction modifier each other. In this study, The effect of these additives (Zn-DTP and Mo-DTP) will be confirmed and evaluated by four kinds of test methods, Four-Ball E.P test, Four-Ball wear test, Falex Timken test and SRV test.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A graphene/carbon nanotube hybrid material stabilized in an aqueous medium, was coated on carbon fibers by anodic electrophoretic deposition. Chemically oxidized graphene, graphene oxide, was used as a stabilizing agent for dispersion of carbon nanotubes and as a transport medium for the graphene oxide/carbon nanotube hybrid during electrophoretic deposition. This hybrid coating increased the wettability and surface roughness of carbon fibers, which led to improved affinity between the carbon fibers and epoxy matrix. The resulting hybrid-coated carbon fiber-reinforced composites showed an enhancement of over 10% in the short beam strength compared to un-coated carbon fiber composites and demonstrated significantly improved through-thickness electrical conductivity (increase of over 1400%).</P>

This report describes the adhesibility of the polyurea greases. Generally, Polyurea greases were divided into three classes, aliphatic, alicyclic, and aromatic, according to the differences of the terminal alkyl group. The adhesion properties of polyurea greases were tested with Adhesion Tester by In-house method.

The Four-Ball Tester has been widely used as a tool to charaterize lubricity for long time. In order to understand more acurate properties of lubricants, more test methods have been developed. Among the test methods, SRV test method was compared to Four-Ball Tester in this paper.
