Antecedents to Privacy Concern over Ubiquitous Service in China

        Lili Wan,Chao Zhang,Daihwan Min 한국무역연구원 2013 貿易 硏究 Vol.9 No.2

A success with online or mobile business in the domestic market does not guarantee another success in a foreign country. Information privacy is a major concern to netizens or mobile users and becomes an obstacle to adopting a new service based on Internet and mobile technologies. If a company wants to export its business into an overseas market, the company needs to understand the extent of information privacy concerns by users in a foreign country and what would affect their privacy concerns. This paper focused on information privacy concerns when using ubiquitous service that could bring significant benefits to its users, and empirically examined the factors which could affect privacy concerns by users in China. The results showed that both propensity to privacy and privacy awareness had a positive effect on privacy concerns, while perceived justice had a negative effect. However, prior negative experience and perceived effectiveness of regulation had no effect on privacy concerns. Theoretical and practical implications for ubiquitous service are discussed.

Abnormal Vacuolization of the Tapetum During the Tetrad Stage is Associated with Male Sterility in the Recessive Genic Male Sterile Brassica napus L. Line 9012A

        Lili Wan,Xiuyun Xia,Dengfeng Hong,Ji Li,Guangsheng Yang 한국식물학회 2010 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.53 No.2

In the recessive genic male sterile line 9012A of Brassica napus, pollen development is affected during the tetrad stage. According to the light and electron microscopy analysis of tapetal cells and tetrads, the sterile tapetal cells swelled with expanded vacuoles at the early tetrad stage and finally filled the center of the locules where a majority of tetrads encased with the thick callose wall collapsed and degraded. We suggested that an absence of callase, which is a wall-degrading enzyme stored in the vacuoles of tapetal cells before secretion, resulted in the failure of tetrad separation. Moreover, transmission electron microscopy analysis showed that the secretory tapetal cells were not observed in sterile anthers, which indicated that the transition of the tapetum from the parietal type to the secretory type was probably aberrant. In plants, degeneration of the tapetum is thought to be the result of programmed cell death (PCD). PCD of tapetal cells was investigated by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferasemediated dUTP nick-end labeling assay and signals indicative of deoxyribonucleic acid fragmentation were detected much earlier in sterile anther than in fertile anther. This suggests that tapetal breakdown does not occur by the normal procession of PCD and might be following an alternative mechanism of unscheduled apoptosis in line 9012A. This research supports the hypothesis that premature PCD is associated with male sterility in B. napus.

Wearable Device Users’ Behavior Change : Does Persuasive Design Matter?

Lili Wan,Chao Zhang 국제문화기술진흥원 2020 International Journal of Advanced Culture Technolo Vol.8 No.1

Purpose Wearable devices are widely used in our daily life. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between persuasive designs of fitness trackers and users’ physical activity behavior. Methods To test the research model, data was collected from a web-based survey in China, resulting in an effective sample of 166 usable questionnaires. The survey was restricted only to respondents who wear a fitness tracker. Results The sample surveyed in this study indicated that half of the respondents had been wearing a smart fitness tracker shorter than one year, and only 27% were long-time users (longer than two years). Dialogue support and social support strategies were both proved to be effective in increasing users' workout behavior intention. Social support strategies had a greater effect on behavior change than dialogue support strategies. Conclusion The findings from this study make several contributions to the practice. Wearable devices developers can employ the result from this study to help them design devices, which can persuade people to do more exercises and preserve a healthier life.

Do Wearable Devices Change Behavior? A Study of Smart Fitness Trackers

        ( Wan Lili ),( Zhang Chao ) 한국정보시스템학회 2020 情報시스템硏究 Vol.29 No.1

Purpose The study focuses on the physical activity behavior change effect of smart wristband, which is the most popular type of fitness tracker nowadays. The purpose of the research is to investigate how people's workout behavior may change after wearing a smart band and examine what kind of role persuasive design plays in behavior change. Design/Methodology/Approach This research employed an experimental study to examine whether the user's workout behaviors changed after using wristband from the “Behavior Wizard” perspective. A representative smart wristband from a major vendor was selected as the objects of experimental study. In the experiment, by comparing users’ workout behavior before and after using the wristband, behavior changes of all the experiment participants were classified into one of the 15 behavior change types. Users perceived persuasive design characteristics were measured and group differences were tested among different behavior change groups. Findings This research found that nearly half of the participants changed their workout behavior while half retained their workout status or no exercise status. Half of the participants who did not do exercise in their spare time started walking in the experiment. Results also showed that participants who started working out perceived higher levels of persuasive design devised into the smart band than participants who preserved no exercise status, except for facilitation and reward strategies. Participants who retained workout and those who increased workout frequency perceived no difference in smart band persuasive design.

Effect of Cultural Factors on Online Privacy Concern : Korea vs. China

Lili, Wan,Min, Daihwan Korea Data Strategy Society 2014 Journal of information technology applications & m Vol.21 No.2

This paper has studied whether cultural factors have an effect on privacy concern of Internet users in Korea and China. The result has shown that power distance, individualism, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation are positively related to privacy concern, while masculinity is negatively related to privacy concern. This study has also found some similarities and differences between the two countries. First, privacy concern of Korean Internet users is significantly higher than that of Chinese users. Second, individualism and uncertainty avoidance significantly affect privacy concern in both Korea and China, although individualism in Korea has stronger effect than that in China. Third, long term orientation has a significant effect in only Korea while power distance is significant only in China. These results suggest that an online company doing businesses in multiple countries should have country-specific privacy policies to deal with the privacy concern of Internet users in different countries.

Outcomes of Anti-CD19 CAR-T Treatment of Pediatric B-ALL with Bone Marrow and Extramedullary Relapse

        Xinyu Wan,Xiaomin Yang,Fan Yang,Tianyi Wang,Lixia Ding,Lili Song,Yan Miao,Xiang Wang,Yani Ma,Chengjuan Luo,Jingyan Tang,Longjun Gu,Jing Chen,Yanjing Tang,Jun Lu,Benshang Li 대한암학회 2022 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.54 No.3

PurposeAnti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T-cell immunotherapy (19CAR-T) has achieved impressive clinical results in adult and pediatric relapsed/refractory (r/r) B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). However, the application and effect of CAR-T therapy in B-ALL patients with extramedullary relapse are rarely issued even disqualified in some clinical trials. Here, we examined the efficacy of 19CAR-T in patients with both bone marrow and extramedullary involvement.Materials and MethodsCAR-T cells were generated by transfection of primary human T lymphocytes with a lentiviral vector expressing anti-CD19 single chain antibody fragments (scFvs) with the cytoplasmic domains of 4-1BB and CD3ζ, and used to infuse patients diagnosed as having r/r B-ALL with extramedullary origination. Clinical responses were evaluated by the use of bone marrow aspiration, imaging, and flow cytometry. ResultsEight patients received 19CAR-T infusion and all attained complete remission (CR). Only one patient was bridged to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Although three patients relapsed after infusion, they received 19/22CAR-T infusion sequentially and attained a second remission. To date, five patients are in continuous CR and all eight patients are still alive. The mean follow-up time was 21.9 months, while the 24-month estimated event-free survival is 51.4%. Conclusion19CAR-T therapy can lead to clinical remission for extramedullary relapsed pediatric B-ALL patients. However, the problem of CD19+ relapses after CAR-T remained to be solved. For patients relapsing after CAR-T, a second CAR-T therapy creates another opportunity for remission for subsequent HSCT.

Ultra-High Damping Capacity of Oxide Reinforced Magnesium Matrix Composites by In Situ Synthesis

        Diqing Wan,Jiajun Hu,Houbin Wang,Yinglin Hu,Lili Li 대한금속·재료학회 2021 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.27 No.12

In this work, in situ oxidation and particle-dispersed methods are successfully used to prepare novel oxide/Mg compositeswith ultra-high damping capacity starting from pure Mg as the matrix. Successful incorporation of the MgO particles into theMg matrix is experimentally demonstrated, and the role of the oxide in enhancing the damping capacities of the compositesis examined in detail. The increased damping capacity of the composites with respect to the pure magnesium is attributedto an increased dislocation density and the introduction of interface damping. In the temperature-dependent damping tests, two damping peaks P1and P2were found. The P1peak is considered to be related to the interaction between dislocations andimpurity atoms or vacancies. The P2peak is considered to be caused by the grain boundaries sliding.
