Biologically Childless in Cameroon : "Infertile" Cameroonian Women Speak Out
Susan Weinger Research Institute of Asian Women Sookmyung Women' 2005 Asian Women Vol.21 No.-
This qualitative study explores 'infertile' Cameroonian women's viewpoints about the influence of biological childlessness on their lives. They explain its impact on their perceptions of their self-worth, marriage prospects, ageing and legacy. Even though they perceive social isolation in this highly pronatalist society, these 'infertile' women do not have consistently uniform attitudes and social support. More research is needed to expose their individuality, personalize this marginalized group, and convey that infertility is a social not a personal problem.

China Dolls and Dragon Ladies : American Images of Asian Women
Susan Brownmiller 숙명여자대학교 아세아여성문제연구소 1998 Asian Women Vol.6 No.-
Americans whose childhoods coincided with World War Ⅱ grew up with the Dragon Lady, a mysterious, powerful, manipulative, glamorous figure in Terry and the Pirates, a wildly popular syndicated cartoon strip in the daily newspapers that was set somewhere in the Pacific seas. Who was the Dragon Lady, and which side was she on? For years she was the personification of evil, but when Terry started fighting the Japanese instead of the pirates, she turned out to be on our side. Her switch about, which fans of the cartoon took in stride, was a patriotic move by Milt Caniff, the artist, as a gesture of solidarity toward our embattled Chinese allies.

The purpose of this study was to empirically examine the perceptions of university faculty toward academic socialization. The sample for the study consisted of thirty-two faculty with varying ethnic backgrounds, both genders, and all faculty ranks represented six academic colleges from a comprehensive land-grant university. The 47 statements that comprised the Q set were sampled based on Tierney and Rhoad``s (1994) culture-based framework for socialization processes for faculty (culture of nation, profession, discipline, individual, and institutional). Interpretation of three factors from the data analyzed according to Q method were: (1) Best Fit; (2) Workhorse; and (3) Staying the Course. Best Fit believes that they are a good fit within the overall socialization scheme existing at the level of the discipline and university culture. Workhorses feel strongly that the profession demands a heavy workload imposing time constraints. As a result, they have little time to socialize personally and getting tenured is the focus. Staying the Course faculty members could be thought of as faculty who work hard at balancing their academic and personal roles. Implications for faculty development are discussed. Q 요인분석으로 세 개-(1) Best Fit (2) Workhorse (3) Staying the Course -요인으로 밝혀졌다.
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE AND THE RESOURCE CONSERVATION RECOVERY ACT INSPECTION AND ENFORCEMENT PROCESS
SUSAN M. OPP 한국행정학회 2012 International Review of Public Administration Vol.17 No.1
This article examines the environmental justice literature and theories in relation to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act inspection and enforcement rates in the state of Texas. This research attempts to answer the question: Are certain vulnerable populations being subjected to the health dangers associated with fewer state-level inspections of nearby hazardous waste facilities? Using a count regression model, this article finds that the Texas environmental bureaucracy performs inspections in a way that is burdensome on census bureau zip code tabulation areas with lower per capita income, a larger proportion of minority races, and a higher percentage of non-citizen residents.
