CdS Nanopowder and Nanofilm: Simultaneous Synthesis and Structural Analysis

        Suresh Kumar,Pankaj Sharma,Vineet Sharma 대한금속·재료학회 2013 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.9 No.3

Chemical bath deposition technique has been used for simultaneous synthesis of CdS nanopowder and nanofilm. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) studies show a predominant α-CdS structure. Structural parameters show a random lattice disorder and bond length contraction leading to high density of nanopowder and nanofilm in comparison to standard CdS. The columnar structure growth of the nanofilm devoid of grain boundaries may be explored for window layers.

The machining cutting force and tool tip temperature are measured online while turning using different cutting parameters. The surface roughness is also measured, but off-line after each cut. The obtained data are analyzed and the influence of the cutting parameters on the machining variables is determined in the form of plots. Regression models obtained from the results are tested using additional experimental data.

      • Pd/Cu-Oxide Nanoconjugate at Zeolite-Y Crystallite Crafting the Mesoporous Channels for Selective Oxidation of Benzyl-Alcohols

        Sharma, Mukesh,Das, Biraj,Sharma, Mitu,Deka, Biplab K.,Park, Young-Bin,Bhargava, Suresh K.,Bania, Kusum K. American Chemical Society 2017 ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES Vol.9 No.40

Solid-state grinding of palladium and copper salts allowed the growth of palladium/copper oxide interface at the zeolite-Y surface. The hybrid nanostructured material was used as reusable heterogeneous catalyst for selective oxidation of various benzyl alcohols. The large surface area provided by the zeolite-Y matrix highly influenced the catalytic activity, as well as the recyclability of the synthesized catalyst. Impregnation of PdO-CuO nanoparticles on zeolite crystallite leads to the generation of mesoporous channel that probably prevented the leaching of the metal-oxide nanoparticles and endorsed high mass transfer. Formation of mesoporous channel at the external surface of zeolite-Y was evident from transmission electron microscopy and surface area analysis. PdO-CuO nanoparticles were found to be within the range of 2-5 nm. The surface area of PdO-CuO-Y catalyst was found to be much lower than parent zeolite-Y. The decrease in surface area as well as the presence of hysteresis loop in the Nradsoprtion isotherm further suggested successful encapsulation of PdO-CuO nanoparticles via the mesoporous channel formation. The high positive shifting in binding energy in both Pd and Cu was attributed to the influence of zeolite-Y framework on lattice contraction of metal oxides via confinement effect. PdO-CuO-Y catalyst was found to oxidize benzyl alcohol with 99% selectivity. On subjecting to microwave irradiation the same oxidation reaction was found to occur at ambient condition giving same conversion and selectivity.

Pharmacokinetics and dosage regimen of ceftriaxone in E. coli lipopolysaccharide induced fever in buffalo calves

Suresh Kumar Sharma,Manmohan Singh Dardi,Anil Kumar Srivastava 대한수의학회 2005 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.6 No.2

The present study was planned to investigate the pharmacokinetics of ceftriaxone in experimentally induced febrile buffalo calves (n = 5). The fever was induced by intravenous injection of E.coli lipopolysaccaride (1 µg/kg). To study the pharmacokinetics, ceftriaxone was administered at the dose rate of 10 mg/kg body wt. in all animals. At 1 min, the peak concentration of ceftriaxone was 79.4 ± 2.37 µg/ml and the drug was detected up to 6 h. The elimination rate constant was 0.35 ± 0.02 /h and elimination half-life was 2.04 ± 0.14 h. The apparent volume of distribution (Vd(area )) and total body clearance (ClB) were 1.21 ± 0.15 l/kg and 0.41 ± 0.03 l/kg/h, respectively. To maintain a minimum therapeutic concentration of 1 µg/kg, a satisfactory dosage regimen of cefriaxone in febrile buffalo calves is 19 mg/kg followed by 18 mg/kg at 8 h intervals.

Viscosity of the oil-in-water Pickering emulsion stabilized by surfactant-polymer and nanoparticle-surfactant-polymer system

        Tushar Sharma,G. Suresh Kumara,전보현,Jitendra S. Sangwai 한국유변학회 2014 Korea-Australia rheology journal Vol.26 No.4

Information on the viscosity of Pickering emulsion is required for their successful application in upstreamoil and gas industry to understand their stability at extreme environment. In this work, a novel formulationof oil-in-water (o/w) Pickering emulsion stabilized using nanoparticle-surfactant-polymer (polyacrylamide)system as formulated in our earlier work (Sharma et al., Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry,2014) is investigated for rheological stability at high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) conditionsusing a controlled-strain rheometer. The nanoparticle (SiO2 and clay) concentration is varied from 1.0 to 5.0wt%. The results are compared with the rheological behavior of simple o/w emulsion stabilized by surfactant-polymer system. Both the emulsions exhibit non-Newtonian shear thinning behavior. A positive shiftin this behavior is observed for surfactant-polymer stabilized emulsion at high pressure conditions. Yieldstress is observed to increase with pressure for surfactant-polymer emulsion. In addition, increase in temperaturehas an adverse effect on the viscosity of emulsion stabilized by surfactant-polymer system. In caseof nanoparticle-surfactant-polymer stabilized o/w emulsion system, the viscosity and yield stress are predominantlyconstant for varying pressure and temperature conditions. The viscosity data for both o/w emulsionsystems are fitted by the Herschel-Bulkley model and found to be satisfactory. In general, the studyindicates that the Pickering emulsion stabilized by nanoparticle-surfactant-polymer system shows improvedand stable rheological properties as compared to conventional emulsion stabilized by surfactant-polymersystem indicating their successful application for HPHT environment in upstream oil and gas industry.

Factors Influencing Association of Intermediaries in the Supply Chain of Consumer Healthcare Brands

        SURESH, A.S.,VASUDEVAN, M.,VINOD, Sharma Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 유통과학연구 Vol.19 No.1

Purpose: The rural market in India provides tremendous scope for FMCG consumer healthcare companies to market their products because of a significant increase of rural purchasing power. Many empirical studies in this area highlight the challenges and opportunities for marketers in the FMCG space. Research articles are not in abundance to understand intermediaries' expectations in the supply chain specific to consumer healthcare products. The existing literature did not significantly address the challenges of channel partners in the rural market. The present study aims to determine the retailer expectations from manufacturers and channel members' mutual expectations in the FMCG distribution channel. Research design and Methodology: The present study adopted a qualitative research methodology. Fifty respondents from each level of distribution channel such as super-stockist, distributors and retailers in central India were identified and an interview method was adopted to collect the data. Results: Nineteen factors were identified to influence the intermediaries for involvement in the business with any FMCG brand. Factors like Profit margin, reverse logistics, credit terms, return on investment, timely payments were crucial for managing the expectations of all intermediaries. This study provides academic as well as practical implications in terms of enabling the industry to align its channel management strategies accordingly.

Thermal stability of oil-in-water Pickering emulsion in the presence of nanoparticle, surfactant, and polymer

Tushar Sharma,G. Suresh Kumara,전보현,Jitendra S. Sangwai 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.22 No.-

Pickering emulsion offers potential applications in several fields including oil and gas industry due totheir enhanced stability. Oil-in-water (o/w) emulsions are usually stabilized by surfactant ornanoparticle or by both but show poor thermal stability which limits their use for high-temperatureapplications. In this work, a novel formulation of o/w emulsion stabilized using nanoparticle-surfactantpolymersystem is investigated for the formulation of thermally stable Pickering emulsion. Theconventional oilfield polymer polyacrylamide (PAM), surfactant, sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS), andnanoparticles such as, SiO2, clay, and CuO in varying concentration are used. It is observed that thenanoparticle in the presence of surfactant and polymer synergistically interacted at the oil–waterinterface. The effect of temperature, pH, and salinity on the interfacial tension is investigated tounderstand the thermal stability. The emulsion system with partially hydrophobic clay nanoparticles inthe presence of PAM and SDS shows higher thermal stability as compared to fully hydrophilic SiO2nanoparticles. In the presence of salt, NaCl (1.0 wt%), the thermal stability of clay and SiO2 stabilizedemulsions is observed to be further promoted at higher temperatures. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) images confirm the existence of a structured and rigid layer of nanoparticle at the oil–waterinterface.
