The purpose of this study is to clarify present status, effects, problems and overall aspects of the recycled water supply system, and to analize economics of watewater reuse. Based on the results, the following conclusions may be drawn; 1. The cost of the recycled water supply system is about two times as much as the conventional wastewater treatment cost, and it is about two to five times as much as the residertial water supply and drainage charge. 2. In a large-sized building with water consumption above 500㎥/d, the water supply and drainage charge is higher than the recycled water supply cost. Therefore, it may be recommended to introduce the recycled water supply system. 3. In order to promote wastewater reuse, the cost for the recycled water supply should be lower than the water supply and drainage charge. It may be accomplished by lowering the public utility fee basis for the treatment and developing new water treatment technologies. 4. The cost of ground water use is lower than the recycled water cost. But continuous pumping of ground water may cause sinking problems. Therefore, the wastewater recycling may be favorable to alleviate the water supply shortage in the down-town area.

Landfill gas is important to consider when evaluating the effect a landfill may have on the environment, because methane can explode. Thus, for the evaluating the parameters in gas generation from sanitary landfill site of municipal solid waste the generation mechanism was explained by taking into account anaerobic fermentation. Reported value of temperature of landfill site and C/N ratio of waste were in good condition for anaerobic fermentation. Chemical formula of waste of Nanjido disposal site was calculated to be C H O H S from the reported analytical data of chemical composition. By using this formula and predicted amount of waste was calculated to be 8.8x10 m. When using the predicted amount of decomposable components-garbage, paper, textile and wood-it was calculated to be 7.5x10 m. Assuming the decomposing period of those components the quantity of gas production with respect to time (year) was estimated by modifying the Sheldon-Arleta model.
사여과수에 존재하는 우점세균의 중압 자외선 램프 소독능

상수공급계 모래여과수에 존재하는 종속영양 호기성 세균을 NA 및 TSBA 고체배지로 분리하고 군체의 형태 및 색체로 구분 정량하여 우점종 8종을 선정, 정제하고 Sherlock System으로 동정하였다. 이들 각 종류의 세균에 대하여 액체배양한 후 세정하여 10(6)~10(7) cells/mL 증류수 현탁액을 조제하여 CBD 중압 자외선 램프로 0, 5, 16, 40, 60 mJ/cm2 조사량으로 조사한 후 희석, 평판배지에 접종 배양하여 생존 세균농도를 정량하여 불활성화율을 평가하였다. Gram 양성균으로 Bacillus subtillis, Bacillus megaterium, Rhodococcus erythropolis, Microbacterium laevaniformans 등이 Gram 음성균으로 Pseudomonas pseudoflava, Pseudomonas vesicularis, Alcaligenes paradoxus, Zooglea ramigera 등이 동정되었다. 분리된 세균종들은 중압 자외선 조사에 높은 저항성을 나타내었으며, 표준균주보다 강하였다. 또한 Gram 양성세균이 Gram 음성세균에 비해 월등히 강한 내성을 나타내었다. 중압 자외선 램프를 상수처리장의 소독목적으로 도입할 경우 60~100 mJ/cm2의 조사량으로 높여 조사하여야 할 것으로 판단된다. Isolated the heterotrophic aerobic bacteria in sandfiltered water on NA and TSBA solid medium, selected 8 dominant species and identified by Sherlock System. Each samples are irradiated 0, 5, 16, 40 and 60 mJ/cm2 using on CBD (Collimated Beam Device) Medium Pressure UV lamp after these identified bacterium did liquid culture how to make 10(6)~10(7) cells/mL suspended in dilution water. Then cultured bacteria are estimated inactivation rate on plate media. Identified Gram positive group are Bacillus Subtilus, Bacillus megaterium, Rhodococcus erythropolis and Microbacterium laevaniformans; Gram negative group are Pseudomonas vesicularis, Pseudomonas pseudoflava, Alcaligenes paradoxus and Zooglea ramigera. These isolation of bacterium are more stronger reference strain and high resistance of MP UV irradiation, Besides Gram negative bacterium are more sensitive Gram positive bacterium on MP UV dose. Now we are estimating to 60~100 mJ/cm2 MP UV dose for efficient disinfection in water treatment plant.

<P>Optical gain characteristics of <I>a</I>-plane CdZnO/MgZnO QW structures with a (1 1 <img SRC='http://ej.iop.org/images/0268-1242/25/4/045016/sst339933ieqn3.gif' ALIGN='MIDDLE' ALT='\bar{2}\,'/>0) crystal orientation were theoretically investigated by using the non-Markovian gain model with many-body effects. These results are compared with those of <I>c</I>-plane quantum-well (QW) structures with a (0 0 0 1) crystal orientation. In the case of the <I>c</I>-plane, the optical gain gradually decreases with increasing Cd composition. This is mainly due to the increase in the piezoelectric and spontaneous polarizations. On the other hand, in the case of the <I>a</I>-plane, the optical gain gradually increases with increasing Cd composition. This can be explained by the fact that the quasi-Fermi-level separation increases with the Cd composition. The <I>a</I>-plane shows much larger optical gain than the <I>c</I>-plane, in particular, for QW structures with a larger Cd composition. This means that the crystal orientation effect is much dominant for the QW structure with a large Cd composition. Also, in the case of a low Cd composition, it is found that the CdZnO/MgZnO QW structure shows much larger optical gain than that of the <I>a</I>-plane InGaN/AlGaN QW structure.</P>

<P>The structural parameter dependence of the optical gain of dip-shaped InGaN/GaN quantum well (QW) structures was investigated using the multiband effective-mass theory. In the case of the QW structure with a relatively smaller In composition (0.05) in the shallow well, the optical gain is larger than that with a larger In composition (0.1) in the shallow well. This is mainly due to the fact that the former has a smaller internal field than the latter. In the case of the QW structure with a thin dip well width and a relatively smaller In composition (0.05) in the shallow well, the optical gain rapidly increases with increasing In composition in the dip well because the internal field effect is negligible and a quasi-Fermi level separation becomes larger. On the other hand, the increasing rate of the optical gain is greatly reduced with increasing well width due to the internal field effect.</P>

N/A Twenty-nine patients who had frequent and/or complex ventricular premature beats on a 24-hour ambulatory ECG test were followed up for an average of 1 year and 7 months, and their prognoses were compared with those of 65 normal controls. Only one out of the 29 patients died of cardiac causes, (3.4%) but none of the normal controls died, This difference was not significant statistically. It did not make any difference, even when the presence of the underlying heart diseases were considered together. In our study of a limited number of patients in a rather short follow-up period, most of the patients who had frequent and/or complex ventricular premature beats had as good a prognosis as the general population.

Pheochromocytoma is usually associated with a combination of various clinical manifestations caused by the overproduction of catecholamines. It is frequently accompanied by impaired glucose tolerance operating through 2 - and - adrenergic mechanisms. A 41-year-old-woman was admitted to the hospital because of poorly-controlled diabetes mellitus and hypertension. She had suffered intermittent paroxysmal attacks of headache and chest discomfort and had been treated intermittently over a 2 year period for diabetes mellitus and hypertension. At admission, the levels of serum epinephrine, norepinephrine urinary excretion of total metanephrine, and VMA were all abnormally elevated. Adrenal CT showed a well-defined, homogenous mass in the right adrenal region and the tumor was diagnosed as pheochromocytoma. After tumor resection, the increased blood level of catecholamines, the urinary excretion of total metanephrine, and VMA were normalized, as was the hyperglycemia state. Diabetes mellitus of the patient was considered permanently resolved after tumor removal by the result of glucose tolerance in 75 g oral glucose tolerance test
