In the present study, the approach of high accuracy mass measurements for phospholipid identifications was evaluated using a 7 T ESI-FTMS/linear ion trap MS/MS. Experiments were carried out for porcine brain, bovine liver, and soybean total lipid extracts in both positive and negative ion modes. In total, 59, 55, and 18phospholipid species were characterized in the positive ion mode for porcine brain, bovine liver, and soybean lipid extracts, respectively. Assigned lipid classes were PC, PE, PEt, PS, and SM. In the negative ion mode,PG, PS, PA, PE, and PI classes were observed. In the negative ion mode, for porcine brain, bovine liver, and soybean lipid extracts, 28, 34, and 29 species were characterized, respectively. Comparison of our results with those obtained by other groups using derivatization-LC-APCI MS and nano-RP-LC-MS/MS showed that our approach can characterize PC species as effectively as those methods could. In conclusion, we demonstrated that high accuracy mass measurements of total lipid extracts using a high resolution FTMS, particularly, 7T FTMS, plus ion-trap MS/MS are very useful in profiling lipid compositions in biological samples. Abbreviation: PA, phosphatidic acid; PC, phosphatidylcholine; PE, phosphatidylethanolamine; PEt, phosphatidylethanol;PG, phosphatidylglycerol; PI, phosphatidylinositol; PS, phosphtidylserine; SM, sphingomyelin
The Making of Presidential Agendas in Korea: A Comparison of Four Governments
Seonghyun Yu,Jangho Park,Sunhyuk Kim 한국학술연구원 2020 Korea Observer Vol.51 No.3
This study compares the presidential agendas of the four recent Korean governments of Kim Dae-jung (1998-2003), Roh Moo-hyun (2003-08), Lee Myung-bak (2008-13), and Park Geun-hye (2013-17). After a theoretical overview of the three factors affecting the formation of the presidential agenda (i.e., party ideology, presidential leadership, and social environment) this paper reviews the details of the presidential agendas of each administration and discusses them in the light of the three factors. In the last section, we reflect on the presidential agenda of the current Moon Jae-in administration(2017-present), point out the change and continuity in the presidential agenda system, and make a few remarks on the future of the presidential agenda system in Korea.

This study demonstrated the sensitivity of electron capture dissociation mass spectrometry (ECD-MS) to probe sub- tle conformational changes in gaseous melittin ions induced by the substitution of an amino acid. ECD-MS was performed for triply and quadruply-protonated melittin and its variants obtained by a single amino acid substitution, namely, D-Pro14, Pro14Ala, and Leu13Ala. Although native triply-protonted melittin showed only a few peptide backbone cleavage products, the D-Pro14 and Pro14Ala variants exhibited extensive backbone fragments, suggesting the occurrence of a significant structural or conformational change induced by a single amino acid substitution at Pro14. On the contrary, the substitution at Leu13, namely Leu13Ala (+3), did not cause significant changes in the ECD backbone fragmentation pattern. Thus, the sensitivity of ECD-MS is demonstrated to be good enough to probe the aforementioned conformational change in melittin.
Generation and Distribution of Martian Dust Devils
Seonghyun Kim,Yongjae Yu 대한지질학회 2021 대한지질학회 학술대회 Vol.2021 No.10
Generation of vertical swirls of wind on Earth produces tornadoes in large scale and dust devils in small scale. Dust devils have been also recorded in Martian missions. Martian surface is commonly covered by a thin layer of dust, yielding a bright color due to the reflective nature of fine-grained dust particles. As dust devils swipe a thin dust layer, a dark crustal rock surface will be exposed. With time, the exposed rock will be covered by dusts again. There is a moderate correlation between the height and radius of dust devils. It is apparent that wind speed is independent of the volume of dust devils. There is no latitudinal dependence for the morphology of dust devils. However, speed of dust devils displayed a latitudinal dependence. It is interesting that wind speed of dust devils at low latitude is generally faster than those at high latitudes. It is likely that larger daily temperature tide causes faster wind speed at low latitude area.
Analysis of Health Management using Physiological Data Based on Continuous Exercise
Woosuk Chong,Seonghyun Kim,Changho Yu,Seongtak Woo,Kyong Kim 한국정밀공학회 2021 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.22 No.5
To accurately predict and monitor an individual’s health, accurate information on the changing patterns of the individual’s physiological signals is required. In this study, obesity parameters were analyzed using regression analysis based on the physiological signals of individuals who performed continuous exercise. To this end, three healthy adult subjects participated in the experiment, and their health management was analyzed by monitoring changes in health information parameters while they performed continuous exercise with daily activities over a long period of time. Subjects’ exercise parameters included heart rate were collected through smart watches, and their specified obesity parameters were measured using a smart scale. The analysis results showed that weight and body fat decreased and muscle composition increased in conjunction with the amount of exercise for two subjects who performed continuous exercise while conducting daily activities. For one subject who did not perform any specific exercise, however, the weight and body muscle rate tended to increase slightly and the body fat rate tended to decrease slightly. It was found that continuous exercise improved the subjects’ ability to adapt to exercise, thereby increasing Max BPM and reducing weight. Performing continuous exercise while conducting daily activities appears to improve physical measures of health, as it decreases weight and body fat rate and increases body muscle rate. Health management analysis based on the physiological data collected from smart devices is expected to play a role in keeping the human body healthy.
