The present study was undertaken to determine if direct current(DC) electirical fields could improve survival rate of random pattern skin flap in the rat. 20 Sparque- Dawley rats were divided into two groups and caudally based 2cm width and 8cm length random pattern flaps were elevated in all rats. Electrical fields of 9mA were introduced by 1.5V disk button battery. Electrical field was applied for 5days to the stimulation group(B). DC electrical fields shows the enhancement of flap survival by increasing the rate to 33.5%(p<0.01). The enhancement of skin flap survival by application of direct current electrical field has possibility for cover the large skin defect.
Structural Analysis of Open-Column Fractionation of Peracetic Acid-Treated Kraft Lignin1
( Se-Yeong PARK ),( June-Ho CHOI ),( Seong-Min CHO ),( Joon Weon CHOI ),( In-Gyu CHOI ) 한국목재공학회 2020 목재공학 Vol.48 No.6
This study investigates the selective fractionation of lignin with uniform structures and lower molecular weight. Lignin solubilization was first performed using a solution of acetic acid (AA) and hydrogen peroxide (HP) (4:1, (v/v)) to form peracetic acid (PAA), which is a strong oxidant. After the PAA-induced solubilization that occurred at 80°C, totally soluble lignin was extracted by ethyl acetate (EA) and divided into organic- and water-soluble fractions. The EA fraction was then fractionated by open-column using three solutions (chloroform-ethyl acetate, methanol, and water) sequentially. With an increase in the solvent polarity during the fractionation step, the molecular weight of the lignin-derived compounds in the fraction increased. Remarkably, some lignin fractions did not have aromatic structures. These fractions were identified as carboxylic acid-containing polymers like poly-carboxylates. These results conclude that the selective production of lignin-derived polymers with specific molecular weight and structural characteristics could be possible through open-column fractionation.

Background/Aims: Pregnancy-associated gastric cancer is a rare condition. This case-control study was performed to identify the clinicopathological features and prognostic factors of pregnancy-associated gastric cancer. Methods: All consecutive patients who presented to our tertiary referral hospital with pregnancy-associated gastric cancer from 1991 to 2012 were identified. Two age-, sex-, and stagematched controls for each case were also identified from the records. Clinicopathological, gynecological, and oncological outcomes were recorded. Immunohistochemical staining was performed for estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, epidermal growth factor receptor, human epidermal growth factor receptor, and E-cadherin. Fluorescence in situ hybridization was performed for fibroblast growth factor receptor 2. Results: The median overall survival rates of the pregnancyassociated gastric cancer and control groups were 7.0 months and 15.0 months, respectively (p=0.189). Poor prognostic factors included advanced stage and tumor location in the corpus or the entire stomach but not pregnancy status or loss of E-cadherin. Pregnancy-associated gastric cancer was associated with a longer time from diagnosis to treatment (21 days vs 7 days, p=0.021). The two groups did not differ in the expression of the receptors or E-cadherin. Conclusions: The dismal prognosis of pregnancy-associated gastric cancer may related to the tumor stage and location rather than to pregnancy itself. (Gut Liver 2016;10:731-738)
Characteristics of SiOxNy Films Deposited by PECVD at Low-Temperature Using BTBAS-NH3-O2
June Hee Lee,Geun Young Yeom,Chang Hyun Jeong,임종태,Kyung Suk Min,Se Jin Kyung,Viktor A. Zavaleyev 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.48 No.I
In this study, SiOxNy films were deposited at low temperature (<75 C) by inductively coupled plasma chemical vapor deposition (CVD) while biasing the substrate at .80 V using BTBAS/(O2/NH3). The effects of the oxygen ratio (defined as O2/(O2 + NH3)) on the characteristics of the deposited films were investigated. On increasing the oxygen ratio, decreases of C-H and the N-H bonds in the films could be obtained in the deposited SiOxNy film while the Si-O bonds increased. Due to low C-H and N-H bond densities in the films with increasing oxygen ratio, the films became more stable, harder, and more transparent. When the oxygen ratio was close to 1, SiOxNy resembling SiO2 with a refractive index of 1.46 was obtained. The oxygen rich SiOxNy films produced using O2-BTBAS/Ar are believed to be useful as transparent diffusion barrier materials for the polymeric materials used as organic light-emitting diodes and flexible displays.
Comparison of Plasma Eotaxin Family Level in Aspirin-Induced and Aspirin-Tolerant Asthma Patients
Min, Ji-Won,Jang, An-Soo,Park, Se-Min,Lee, Seung-Ha,Lee, June-Hyuk,Park, Sung-Woo,Park, Choon-Sik Elsevier 2005 Chest Vol.128 No.5

STUDY OBJECTIVE: Eosinophilic infiltration of airway tissue is a central feature of aspirin-induced asthma (AIA). Eotaxins belong to the family of CC chemokines, which coordinate the recruitment of inflammatory cells bearing chemokine (C-C motif) receptor-3 to sites of allergic inflammation. In the present study, the levels of eotaxin-1, eotaxin-2, and eotaxin-3 following an oral aspirin provocation test (APT) were measured, and the relationship between the eotaxin level and clinical parameters in patients with asthma was evaluated.Patients and design: An APT was performed in patients with asthma. Twenty AIA patients and 23 aspirin-tolerant asthma (ATA) patients were identified. Plasma levels of eotaxin-1, eotaxin-2, and eotaxin-3 levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in the 43 patients with asthma and in 39 control subjects. RESULTS: The proportion of blood eosinophils was significantly higher in asthmatic patients than in control subjects. Nasal polyps were more common in AIA patients than in ATA patients (p < 0.05). In addition, the eotaxin-1 level was higher in AIA and ATA patients than in control subjects (p < 0.01 for each). The eotaxin-2 level was higher in ATA patients than in either the AIA patients (p < 0.05) or control subjects (p < 0.01). Similarly, the eotaxin-3 level was higher in ATA patients than in control subjects. A trend toward higher plasma levels of eotaxin-1 and eotaxin-3 at baseline and at 4 h after APT administration in the ATA group was noted but was not significant. Eotaxin-2 was also higher in ATA patients than in AIA patients at baseline and at 4 h after the APT. CONCLUSION: This study shows that eotaxin-2 is differentially secreted in patients with asthma according to aspirin intolerance, and that secretion is not time-dependent in response to the APT in AIA and ATA patients. It therefore appears that eotaxin-2 may be up-regulated and may act differentially in patients with ATA.

Purpose: Accurate human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status is important in predicting prognosis and providing treatment for HER2-positive breast cancer patients. However, performing in situ hybridization (ISH) can be an economic burden on developing countries. This study aimed to find an alternative to the ISH test by predicting the HER2 status in patients with equivocal immunohistochemistry (IHC) results. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of 15,535 patients who underwent curative surgery for invasive breast cancer between February 2005 and April 2015 at the Samsung Medical Center. Equivocal HER2 IHC results were obtained for 461 patients. Logistic regression analysis using stepwise selection was performed to identify the clinicopathological factors related to silver in situ hybridization (SISH) status. We analyzed the data by dividing the estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor (PR) into three groups according to Allred score. Results: Multivariable analysis identified poorly differentiated histological grade, lower PR score, higher expression of Ki-67 and p53, and lower expression of cytokeratin 5/6 and epidermal growth factor receptor as predictors of SISH-positive results. The area under the curve for the receiver-operating characteristic curve was 0.74. Conclusion: We identified factors related to a positive HER2 status by SISH. However, there was insufficient power in the prediction model for diagnosis and evaluation. Therefore, the SISH test is essential in determining the HER2 status of breast cancer patients when the IHC result is equivocal.
