During the use of API X70 steel as a pipeline structural material for the transportation of natural gas, hydrogen embrittlement can occur due to the hydrogen contained in natural gas. The aim of this study is toinvestigate the effects of the hydrogen content under high-pressure hydrogen gas conditions on the hydrogenembrittlement of air-cooled API X70 steel. The air-cooled API X70 steel was manufactured by hot rollingand was then air-cooled to room temperature. Tensile test specimens were held for 0 h, 1000 h, and 2000 hwithin a pressure vessel filled with 100% hydrogen gas at a gas pressure of 10 MPa, with the tensile teststhen performed at room temperature. The microstructure of the API X70 steel consists of coarse polygonalferrite, coarse pearlite, and fine acicular ferrite. The yield and tensile strength increased and elongationdecreased considerably after a holding time of 2000 h compared to those of 0 h and 1000 h within the pressurevessel. The morphology of the fracture surface changed from ductile to brittle upon hydrogen gas charging. Secondary cracks were observed in both of the hydrogen-gas-charged specimens. No external cracks wereformed on the surface of the tensile-tested specimen with a 0 h holding time; however, many external crackswere observed on the specimen surface subjected to hydrogen gas charging.

Background: There is debate regarding the influence of a surgeon’s experience with computer-assisted surgery (CAS) on the postoperative mechanical axis (MA) in CAS-high tibial osteotomy. The purpose of the present study was to compare radiographic results between early and late cohorts of a consecutive series of patients to assess the influence of CAS experience on accuracy and precision of the postoperative MA during CAS lateral closingwedge high tibial osteotomy (LCWHTO). Materials and methods: Results from 140 CAS-LCWHTO operations were retrospectively reviewed. The first 70 cases, performed during the learning curve period for CAS between 2005 and 2009, were considered to be the “early cohort.” The subsequent 70 cases, performed with greater CAS experience after the completion of the learning curve between 2009 and 2014, were considered to be the “late cohort.” The target postoperative MA angle was valgus 3°. Pre- and postoperative MA angles were evaluated by navigation and radiographs. The proportion of postoperative MA inliers (≤ target angle ±3°) was investigated radiographically. The correlation between the navigation and radiographic measurements was analyzed. Results: The average postosteotomy MA angle on navigation was 3.4° in both cohorts. The average postoperative MA angle on radiographs was 1.0° in the early cohort and 2.2° in the late cohort (P = 0.003). Radiographically, the proportion of postoperative MA inliers was greater in the late cohort than in the early cohort (early versus late, 71.4% versus 90%; P = 0.011). The pre- and postoperative correlation between navigation and radiographic measurements was also stronger in the late cohort (early versus late; preoperative r = 0.558 versus 0.663; postoperative r = 0.310 versus 0.376). Conclusions: Greater experience with CAS increased the accuracy and precision of postoperative MA alignment as well as the correlation between navigation and radiographic measurements. Caution should be taken during registration procedures to achieve accurate alignment correction in CAS-LCWHTO.

A digital differential transmitter based on CMOS inverter worked up to 2.8 Gbps at the supply voltage of 1 V with a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. By calibrating the output impedance of the transmitter, the impedance matching between the transmitter output and the transmission line is achieved. The PVT variations of pre-driver are compensated by the calibration of the rising-edge delay and falling-edge delay of the pre-driver outputs. The chip fabricated with a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process, which uses the standard supply voltage of 1.8 V, gives the highest data rate of 4Gbps at the supply voltage of 1.2 V. The proposed calibration schemes improve the eye opening with the voltage margin by 200% and the timing margin by 30%, at 2.8 Gbps and 1 V.

The optimal conditions for applications of an atmospheric pressure plasma (APP) jet for the inactivation of Salmonella Typhimurium in chicken breast and pork loins were investigated. APP jet treatment for 10 min (versus 5 minutes) showed a higher inactivation of S. Typhimurium in an agar plate, with the best effect at a distance of 20 mm. A treatment on both sides (both-side treatment) for 2.5 + 2.5 min showed a greater inhibition on S. Typhimurium growth compared to single-side treatment for 5 min, with reduction levels of 0.66 log CFU/g in chicken breast and 1.33 log CFU/g in pork loin, respectively. However, there was no significant difference between single-side treatment for 10 min and both-side treatment for 5 + 5 min in chicken breasts and pork loin samples. In conclusion, APP jet treatment conditions, including distance, time, and direction, may affect the inactivation efficiency of S. Typhimurium. In this experiment, distance of 20 mm and both-side treatment were the best conditions. Therefore, the optimal APP jet treatment conditions were evaluated to maximize its practical efficiency.

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by neurological, cutaneous, and ophthalmological manifestations. A 33-year-old woman with typical symptoms of NF1 visited Ajou University Hospital. Screening of the whole-messenger RNA region of NF1 at the complementary DNA level by polymerase chain reaction-direct sequencing confirmed the presence of an NF1 mutation at the genomic level. The mutation analysis revealed an in-frame skipping of exon 46 (c.6757_6858del) caused by a point mutation (c. 6792C>A) in exon 46. In this report, we have described the first Korean case of a proband with NF1 that carries an allele with an exon 46 deletion caused by an exonic splicing enhancer site mutation, leading to the skipping of the whole of exon 46 (c.6757_6858del).

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the outcomes of bearing exchange for the treatment of mobile bearing dislocation in medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 18 patients (15 females and 3 males, mean age of 65 years) treated with bearing exchange following mobile bearing dislocation in medial UKA. The occurrence of bearing redislocation, the Oxford Knee Score, and radiographic changes at the last follow-up were investigated. Results: Bearing redislocation after bearing exchange occurred in 9 of 18 patients (50%). Of these 9 patients, 7 underwent conversion to total knee arthroplasty after bearing redislocation. The 9 patients without bearing redislocation showed good to excellent clinical outcomes at a mean followup of 55 months after bearing exchange. The non-redislocation group had a higher percentage of posterior dislocation of the bearing than the redislocation group (55.5% vs. 22.2%, p=0.040). Univariate logistic regression analysis showed no significant risk factors for bearing redislocation. Conclusions: This study showed a high rate of bearing redislocation after isolated, mobile bearing exchange for bearing dislocation following medial UKA. Therefore, bearing exchange as a sole treatment should be carefully considered in selected patients with correctable causes of bearing dislocation.
