This thesis were performed in order to study physiological changes of vipers in the active phase and hibernation phase, Physiological changes were blood gas volume and pressure (TCO_2, PCO_2, PO_2), blood pH and blood pictures (RBC, WBC, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit) The obtained results were summalize as follows; 1. TCO_2, PCO_2, PO_2 and pH increased considerably in hibernation phase, compared with active phase. 2. RBC, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit increased slightly in hibernation phase, compared with active phase. 3. WBC, decreased considerably in hibernation phase, compared with active phase 4. The decrease of environmental and body temperature showed change of blood components.
Sequential confidence intervals for the mean with $\beta$-protection in a certain parameter space
Kim, Sung-Lai The Korean Statistical Society 1990 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.19 No.2
Let ${X_n : n=1,2,\cdots}$ be iid random variables with distribution $P_{\theta}, \theta \in H$ where $H$ is some abstract parameter space. We consider a sequential confidence interval I for the mean $\mu = \mu(\theta)$ of $P_{\theta}$ satisfying $P_{\theta}(\mu \in I) \geq 1-\alpha$ and $P_{\theta}(\mu-\delta(\mu) \in I) \leq \beta$ for all $\theta \in H$ for any given an imprecision real valued function $\delta(\mu) > 0$ and error probabilities $0 < \alpha, \beta < 1$. A one-sided sequential confidence interval is constructed under some restriction of the family {P_{\theta} : \theta \in H}$ and the imprecision function $\delta$. This is extended to the two-sided cases.
SEQUENTIAL ESTIMATION OF THE MEAN VECTOR WITH BETA-PROTECTION IN THE MULTIVARIATE DISTRIBUTION
Sung Lai Kim,Hae In Song,Min Soo Kim,Yu Seon Jang Vol.26 No.1
In the treatment of the sequential beta-protection pro- cedure, we de¯ne the reasonable stopping time and investigate that the stopping time Wijsman s requirements, coverage probabil-ity and beta-protection conditions, are satis¯ed in the estimation for the mean vector ¹ by the sample from the multivariate normal distributed population with unknown mean vector ¹ and a positive de¯nite variance-covariance matrix §.
Kim, Sung-Lai,Kim, Sung-Kyun The Korean Statistical Society 2002 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.31 No.3
For two normal distribution with unknown means and unknown variances, a sequential procedure for estimating the difference of two normal means which satisfies both the coverage probability condition and the $\beta$-protection is proposed under some smoothness of variable imprecision function, and the asymptotic normality of the proposed stopping time after some centering and scaling is given.
Optimal Sequential Tests which minimize the Average Sample Size
Vol.3 No.1
For testing a hypothesis H : (θ = θ1, vs A : θ = θ2 (θ1 < θ2), we obtain a truncated sequential bayes procedure which minimizes the average sample isize between θ1 and θ2.
On the mechanism of chaperone activity of the small heat-shock protein of Methanococcus jannaschii
Kim, Rosalind,Luhua Lai,Lee, Hi-Hong,Cheong, Gang-Won,Kim, Kyeong-Kyu,Zheng Wu,Hisao Yokota,Susan Marqusee,Kim, Sung-Hou Plant molecular biology and biotechnology research 2003 Plant molecular biology and biotechnology research Vol.2003 No.-
The small heat-shock protein (sHSP) from Methanococcus jannaschii (Mj HSP16.5) forms a homomeric complex of 24 subunits and has an overall structure of a multiwindowed hollow sphere with an external diameter of ≈120 Å and an internal diameter of ≈65 Å with six square "windows" of ≈17 Å across and eight triangular windows of ≈30 Å across. This sHSP has been known to protect other proteins from thermal denaturation. Using purified single-chain monellin as a substrate and a series of methods such as protease digestion, antibody binding, and electron microscopy, we show that the substrates bind to Mj HSP16.5 at a high temperature (80℃) on the outside surface of the sphere and are prevented from forming insoluble substrate aggregates in vitro. Circular dichroism studies suggest that a very small, if any, conformational change occurs in sHSP even at 80℃, but substantial conformational changes of the substrate are required for complex formation at 80℃. Furthermore, deletion mutation studies of Mj HSP16.5 suggest that the N-terminal region of the protein has no structural role but may play an important kinetic role in the assembly of the sphere by "preassembly condensation" of multiple monomers before final assembly of the sphere.
ASYMPTOTIC PROPERTIES OF RANDOM CENTRAL ORDER STATISTICS UNDER CONTAMINATION
2001 The Korean journal of computational & applied math Vol.8 No.2
Under contamination, Bahadur representations with a strong remainder term are derived for random central order statistics with a prescribed limiting rank, and asymptotic normalities for these statistics of truncated and contaminated data are proved, with a suitable limiting rank. From these results, an application to the fixed-width confidence interval problem is available. AMS Mathematics Subject Classification : 60F15, 62G20
Sequential Estimation of variable width confidence interval for the mean
Vol.14 No.2
Let {Xn, n = 1,2,${\cdots}$} be i.i.d. random variables with the only unknown parameters mean ${\mu}$ and variance a ${\sigma}^2$. We consider a sequential confidence interval C1 for the mean with coverage probability 1-${\alpha}$ and expected length of confidence interval $E_{\theta}$(Length of CI)/${\mid}{\mu}{\mid}{\leq}k$ (k : constant) and give some asymptotic properties of the stopping time in various limiting situations.
Optimal Sequential Tests which minimize the Average Sample Size
Vol.3 No.1
For testing a hypothesis $H:{\theta}={\theta}_1$, vs $A:{\theta}={\theta}_2$ (${\theta}_1$ < ${\theta}_2$, we obtain a truncated sequential bayes procedure which minimizes the average sample size between ${\theta}_1$ and ${\theta}_2$.
