We here document discovery of expression profile of myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients and changes in the course of disease. The study population was composed of 75 outpatient HBV cases and 15 healthy control cases. Peripheral blood samples were collected for separation of mononuclear cells. Levels of MDSCs labeled with Lin-DR-CD11b+CD33+ obtained from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), were revealed to have significant differences between the CHB and other groups. They were 0.414% for health control cases and 0.226% for CHB cases (Z=-2.356, p=0.0189). It also observed that the group of HBeAg positive cases had significant difference in MDSCs/PBMC median ($X^2=11.877$, p=0.003), compared with group of HBeAg negative cases and the healthy control group. It suggested considerable MDSCs might be involved in HBeAg immune tolerance. In addition, negative correlations between MDSCs/PBMC and parameters of ALT, AST and TBil, while positive correlation between MDSCs/PBMC and ALB parameter were found. Multiple comparisons between the four phases and health control phase again, there was a statistically sifnificant difference ($X^2=17.198$, p=0.002). Taken together, these findings may provide a new immunotherapy strategy for reduced the expression levels of MDSCs in CHB patients, through induction of an autoimmune response to virus removal.

The main contents of this paper is to design a system that can remote control the most of the LED lighting device in the market. In order to realize the device driver, we choose the communication mode Zigbee, PLC, RS232 and RS485. Using client-server system, LED lighting device can be controlled just through web browser.

This paper aims at exploring the so-called “current seal styles” 流行印風 prevailing in China since the late mid-twentieth century. The characteristics of these styles will become more distinct if we examine them in juxtaposition with those of the period styles in the long history of Chinese seal-carving. The seals of the Warring States Period (476BC--226 BC) are recognized to be spontaneously irregular yet structurally intricate. The Qin Dynasty (221BC--206 BC) seals are generally bold and straight, frequently adorned with boundary or dividing line(s). In the Former Han (206 BC or 202 BC--9 AD) and Later Han (25 AD--220 AD) Dynasties, the seals are characteristically formal, dignified, and well-balanced. The seals of the Wei (220--265) and Jin (265--420) Dynasties are inclined to be rigorous and forceful. In the Tang (618 AD--907 AD) and Song (960--1279) Dynasties, seals with multiple horizontal lines, called “nine-fold seal script” 九疊篆, are especially favored. The prevalent seals of the Yuan (1271--1368) Dynasty are often designed with family names together with personal monograms. In the Ming (1368--1644 or 1662) and Qing (1636 or 1644--1912) Dynasties, seal-carving flourishes so vigorously that great masters and regional styles emerge in great numbers, such as the Wen Peng 文彭 and He Zhen 何震 Schools, the Wan 皖 School, the Hui 徽 school, the Zhe 浙 school, the Deng Shiru 鄧石如 style, the Zhao Zhiqian 趙之謙 style, the Wu Changshuo 吳昌碩 style, and the Huang Mufu 黃牧甫 style. Taking the whole history of Chinese seal carving into consideration, the first golden age appears in the Qin and Han Dynasties, and the second one in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. To a considerable degree, modern seal carvers are similar to those of the Ming and Qing, all of whom contrive to combine tradition and innovation, resulting in aesthetically diversified in there works. Owing to the rapid changes in modern society, a large number of seals are carved for practical rather than artistic purposes, and, moreover, the use of new seal materials and the employment of new carving techniques also provide possibilities for unprecedented attempts. All of these make the art of seal carving in modern China appear to be vigorous and full of stylistic varieties.

The current study investigated the effects of acupuncture at Zu-San-Li (ST36) on the hypothalamicepituitaryeadrenalaxis during ethanol withdrawal in rats. Rats were intraperitoneallytreated with 3 g/kg/day of ethanol or saline for 28 days. Following 24 hours ofethanol withdrawal, acupuncture was applied at bilateral ST36 points or non-acupoints(tail) for 1 minute. Plasma levels of corticosterone (CORT) and adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH) were measured by radioimmunoassay (RIA), and the corticotropin-releasingfactor (CRF) protein levels in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus were alsoexamined by RIA 20 minutes after the acupuncture treatment. RIA showed significantlyincreased plasma levels of CORT and ACTH in the ethanol-withdrawn rats compared withthe saline-treated rats, which were inhibited significantly by the acupuncture at the acupointST36 but not at the non-acupoint. Additionally, ethanol withdrawal promoted CRFprotein expressions in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus, which were alsoblocked by the acupuncture at ST36. These findings suggest that acupuncture at the specific acupoint ST36 can inhibit ethanol withdrawal-induced hyperactivation of hypothalamicepituitaryeadrenalaxis, and it may be mediated via the modulation of hypothalamicCRF.
Discriminant Locality Preserving Projections Based on Neighborhood Maximum Margin

This paper took a research about the small size sample problem of the discriminant locality preserving projections method, and proposed the discriminant locality preserving projections method based on neighborhood maximum margin (NMMDLPP). Firstly, the training sample structured a weighted of K-nearest neighbor graph, and gave the weight parameter to each side of the nearest neighbor graph for obtaining the intraclass neighbors and interclass neighbors local geometry information of each point; then reduce the interval between the intraclass neighbors and increase the interval between the interclass neighbors with the result of transfer matrix, and applied the neighbor point optimal refactoring coefficient of the data to the objective function. This method chose the difference between the locality preserving between-class scatter and the locality preserving within-class scatter as the objective function to avoid of calculating the inversion of matrix. This method has conducted an experiment on the UMIST face database and Yale face database. Experimental results show that the NMMDLPP algorithm is superior to other algorithms in recognition rate. The recognition rate can reach more than 91.4%.

The effects of aqueous extract of Schizandra Chinensis Fruit (AESC) on cadmium-induced changes of monoamine neurotransmitters in the different brain regions of adult rats were investigated. Male rats were received intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of CdCl₂ (0.6 ㎎/㎏/d) for 21 days and sacrificed 7 days after the last administration. Concentrations of norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA) in striatum and serotonin (5-HT), 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HIAA) in cortex were measured by HPLC. There were significant decreases of NE, DA, 5-HT and 5-HIAA in Cd intoxicated rats (P < 0.05), while pretreatment with AESC (20 ㎎/㎏/d or 60 mg/kg/d, p.o., 30 min before CdCl₂) greatly inhibited the decrease of monoamine transmitters, respectively (P < 0.05). Also, AESC significantly increased the reduction of glutathione contents and superoxide dismutase activities in cortex induced by CdCl₂. These results suggest that AESC ameliorates Cd-induced depletion of monoamine neurotransmitters in brain through its antioxidant activity.
Preparation of bioactive nano-hydroxyapatite coating for artificial cornea

Bioactive coatings containing hydroxyapatite(HA) nano crystals were prepared on PHEMA membrane by a sol dipping method.A cellcoating and the aggregation degree of HA particles inuence the adhesion of the cornea broblasts to the membrane, which dependsdramatically on the weight ratio between the nano-HA and the dispersant. The optimal condition of the coating preparation is with adispersant/HA = 1.25 weight ratio. The PHEMA membrane covered with nano-HA coating is promising for articial cornea use.
