Families of Estimators of Finite Population Variance using a Random Non-Response in Survey Sampling
Singh, Housila P.,Tailor, Rajesh,Kim, Jong-Min,Singh, Sarjinder The Korean Statistical Society 2012 응용통계연구 Vol.25 No.4
In this paper, a family of estimators for the finite population variance investigated by Srivastava and Jhajj (1980) is studied under two different situations of random non-response considered by Tracy and Osahan (1994). Asymptotic expressions for the biases and mean squared errors of members of the proposed family are obtained; in addition, an asymptotic optimum estimator(AOE) is also identified. Estimators suggested by Singh and Joarder (1998) are shown to be members of the proposed family. A correction to the Singh and Joarder (1998) results is also presented.
Biological Control of Fusarium Wilt Disease of Pigeonpea
Rajesh Singh,B.K. Singh,R.S. Upadhyay,Bharat Rai,Lee, Youn-Su The Korean Society of Plant Pathology 2002 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.18 No.5
Biological control of Fusarium udum causing wilt disease of pigeonpea was studied in vitro, as well as, in vivo. Aspergilluspavus, Anergillus niger, Bacilius licheniformis (strain-2042), Gliocladium virens, Peniciliium citrimum, and Trichoderma harzianum, which were found to be the most potent ones in inhibiting the radial colony growth of the test pathogen, were used as biological control by amending their inocula at diffeyent concentrations in pots and in pathogen-infested soil in the fields. Maximum reduction of the wilt disease was observed with G. vireos both in pots and in the fields. The population of E. udum was found to be markedly reduced when the antagonists were applied in the soil. The study establishes that G. virens can be exploited for the biological control of wilt disease at field level.
AN EFFICIENT AND STABLE ALGORITHM FOR NUMERICAL EVALUATION OF HANKEL TRANSFORMS
Singh, Om P.,Singh, Vineet K.,Pandey, Rajesh K. The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2010 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.28 No.5
Recently, a number of algorithms have been proposed for numerical evaluation of Hankel transforms as these transforms arise naturally in many areas of science and technology. All these algorithms depend on separating the integrand $rf(r)J_{\upsilon}(pr)$ into two components; the slowly varying component rf(r) and the rapidly oscillating component $J_{\upsilon}(pr)$. Then the slowly varying component rf(r) is expanded either into a Fourier Bessel series or various wavelet series using different orthonormal bases like Haar wavelets, rationalized Haar wavelets, linear Legendre multiwavelets, Legendre wavelets and truncating the series at an optimal level; or approximating rf(r) by a quadratic over the subinterval using the Filon quadrature philosophy. The purpose of this communication is to take a different approach and replace rapidly oscillating component $J_{\upsilon}(pr)$ in the integrand by its Bernstein series approximation, thus avoiding the complexity of evaluating integrals involving Bessel functions. This leads to a very simple efficient and stable algorithm for numerical evaluation of Hankel transform.
Effect of Preoperative Vitamin D Levels on Functional Performance after Total Knee Arthroplasty
Rajesh Navin Maniar,Aniket Machindra Patil,Adit Rajesh Maniar,Bharat Gangaraju,Jaivardhan Singh 대한정형외과학회 2016 Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery Vol.8 No.2
Background: Low vitamin D levels affects muscle function. Vitamin D and calcium deficiency cause osteomalacic myopathy and poor functional recovery after hip fractures. The relationship of vitamin D and functional performance after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is not previously reported. Methods: Influence of vitamin D on functional performance before and after TKA was reviewed retrospectively in 120 patients. Of these, 64 had vitamin D deficiency (25-hydroxy vitamin D < 30 ng/mL) preoperatively. All 120 patients received vitamin D oral supplementation postoperatively. Functional parameters including Western Ontario and McMaster Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), Short-Form Health Survey questionnaire, and Knee Society Score were assessed pre- and postoperatively at 3 months. Results: Preoperative function was significantly lower in osteoarthritic patients with vitamin D deficiency (WOMAC score; p = 0.040), but at 3 months all functional scores were similar. Conclusions: We concluded that vitamin D deficiency has a negative effect on function in knee osteoarthritic patients. However, postoperative vitamin D supplementation can lead to functional recovery in these patients. Thus, TKA should not be delayed in vitamin D deficient patients; rather supplementation in the postoperative period is preferable to achieve comparable functional outcome at 3 months to patients with vitamin D sufficiency.
Molecular fossils “pseudogenes” as functional signature in biological system
Rajesh Kumar Singh,Divya Singh,Arpana Yadava,Akhileshwar Kumar Srivastava 한국유전학회 2020 Genes & Genomics Vol.42 No.6
Pseudogenes have been known as non-functional molecular relics developed from inactivated genomic mutations while evolution. However, they have a various function at distinct molecular stages (DNA, RNA and protein) in different biological events including in cancer and associated with parental-gene-dependently and parental-gene independently. The interactions of pseudogenes with ancestor genes or other genes alter in their sequences and transcriptional processes. Pseudogene of RNA sequences have multiple functions in post-transcriptional activities as antisense RNAs, endogenous small-interference RNAs, and competing endogenous RNAs. Moreover, it also plays vital roles in controlling of its parent genes and other pseudogenes transcribing into RNA. Pseudogene transcripts make small interfering RNA or decline cellular miRNA level. The current review focuses on pseudogene functional signature in human genome by regulating the gene expression.

Objectives: Health systems are shifting from traditional methods of healthcare delivery to delivery using digital applications. This change was introduced at a primary care centre in Chandigarh, India that served a marginalised population. Afterestablishing the digital health system, we explored stakeholders’ perceptions regarding its implementation. Methods: Ethnographicmethods were used to explore stakeholders’ perceptions regarding the implementation of the Integrated Health InformationSystem for Primary Health Care (IHIS4PHC), which was developed as a patient-centric digital health application. Data were collected using focus group discussions and in-depth interviews. Participatory observations were made of day-todayactivities including outpatient visits, outreach field visits, and methods of health practice. The collected information wasanalysed using thematic coding. Results: Healthcare workers highlighted that working with the digital health system was initiallyarduous, but they later realised its usefulness, as the digital system made it easier to search records and generate reports, rapidly providing evidence to make decisions. Auxiliary nurse midwives reported that recording information on computerssaved time when generating reports; however, systematic and mandatory data entry made recording tedious. Staff were apprehensiveabout the use of computer-based data for monitoring their work performance. Patients appreciated that theirprevious records were now available on the computer for easy retrieval. Conclusions: The usefulness of the digital health applicationwas appreciated by various primary healthcare stakeholders. Barriers persisted due to perceived needs for flexibilityin delivering healthcare services, and apprehensions continued because of increased transparency, accountability, and dependenceon computers and digital technicians.
Urothelial Tumors of the Urinary Bladder in Manipur: A Histopathological Perspective
Laishram, Rajesh Singh,Kipgen, Paokai,Laishram, Sharmila,Khuraijam, Sucheta,Sharma, Durlav Chandra Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.6
Objective: To study the histomorphological pattern of urothelial tumors of the urinary bladder in Manipur and to evaluate whether any correlation exists between tumor grade and muscle invasion. Methods: A 10 year retrospective study of all consecutive cases diagnosed in the Department of Pathology RIMS - Imphal, between $1^{st}$ January 2001 to $31^{st}$ December 2010. Results: The study included 26 cases of transitional cell tumors of urinary bladder. The male to female ratio was 1.5:1 and the ages ranged from 38 years to 73 years (medians of 60 and 64 years, respectively). Of the total, 14 (53.9%) cases were low grade, 9 (34.6%) were high grade, 2 (7.7%) were papillomas and 1 (3.9%) was a papillary urothelial neoplasm of low malignant potential (PUNLMP). Pathological staging showed that 14 (53.9%) of the cases were stage PTa, four (15.4%) PT1, and eight (30.9%) PT2. Some 18.2% of low grade tumors and 75% of high grade tumors were invasive to the detrusor muscle layer. Conclusion: Bladder cancer is an uncommon disease, transitional tumors being the only histological type observed. It was more common in males than females, with peak incidence in seventh decade. Most of the tumors were non-invasive (PTa) and invasion to the detrusor muscle layer was seen in more than half of the high grade tumors. There is a definite correlation between advancing tumor grade and muscle invasion.

Photocatalytic composite materials having photon absorption capability in the range of visible light were synthesized by loading TiO2 (5, 10, 15, and 20 wt%) on ferrite nanocomposites by sol-gel auto-combustion method. The synthesized nanocomposites were analyzed using X-ray diffraction, Transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and N2 adsorption techniques. The generation of photo active hydroxyl radicals for all the synthesized composites was found higher under the irradiation of red LED (RLED irradiation) which was confirmed by degradation of rhodamine B dye under irradiation of RLED. Photocatalytic activity of the synthesized nanocomposites was also carried out under irradiation of ultraviolet (UVLED) and blue (BLED) light emitting diodes, which is comparatively less than for the reaction under red LED irradiation. The operational parameters like catalyst amount, pH and concentration of dye solution were studied and ESI-MS degradation pathway is proposed by analyzing the degraded samples.
