Background/Aims: The accuracy of endosonographers in diagnosing gastric subepithelial lesions (SELs) using endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is influenced by experience and subjectivity. Artificial intelligence (AI) has achieved remarkable development in this field. This study aimed to develop an AI-based EUS diagnostic model for the diagnosis of SELs, and evaluated its efficacy with external validation. Methods: We developed the EUS-AI model with ResNeSt50 using EUS images from two hospitals to predict the histopathology of the gastric SELs originating from muscularis propria. The diagnostic performance of the model was also validated using EUS images obtained from four other hospitals. Results: A total of 2,057 images from 367 patients (375 SELs) were chosen to build the models, and 914 images from 106 patients (108 SELs) were chosen for external validation. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy of the model for differentiating gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and non-GISTs in the external validation sets by images were 82.01%, 68.22%, 86.77%, 59.86%, and 78.12%, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy in the external validation set by tumors were 83.75%, 71.43%, 89.33%, 60.61%, and 80.56%, respectively. The EUS-AI model showed better performance (especially specificity) than some endosonographers. The model helped improve the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of certain endosonographers. Conclusions: We developed an EUS-AI model to classify gastric SELs originating from muscularis propria into GISTs and non-GISTs with good accuracy. The model may help improve the diagnostic performance of endosonographers. Further work is required to develop a multi-modal EUS-AI system.
A Novel Low-cost Thin-film Flat Plate Photobioreactor for Microalgae Cultivation

In this study, a novel thin-film flat plate photobioreactor (FPPBR) mounted with baffles and a 61.2 m2 (2,000 L) photobioreactor system based on the FPPBR were developed. The flow of the fluid in the thinfilm photobioreactor was investigated by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The cultivation of Chlorella sp. and Scenedesmus dimorphus in the thin-film FPPBR was carried out outdoors. The results showed that the flow of culture medium in different channels was uniform. In outdoor cultivation, the biomass productivity in the FPPBR with baffles was 25.2% higher than that in the FPPBR without baffles. In the pilot-scale FPPBR system, the maximum area productivity of Scenedesmus dimorphus reached 21.9 g/m2/day. When the service time of the photobioreactor was 1 and 3 years, the capital cost of the photobioreactor was 4.72 and 2.45 $ kgalgae, respectively. The results demonstrated that the thin-film FPPBR was cost effective, and it has the potential to be used for mass cultivation of microalgae.
Carbon molecular sieves from soybean straw-based activated carbon for CO2/CH4 separation

Soybean straw (SS)-based activated carbon was employed as a precursor to prepare carbon molecular sieves (CMSs) via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique using methane as carbon source. Prior to the CVD process, SS was activated by 0.5 wt% ZnCl2, followed by a carbonization at 500°C for 1 h in N2 atmosphere. N2 (77 K) adsorption-desorption and CO2 (273 K) adsorption tests were carried out to analyze the pore structure of the prepared CMSs. The results show that increasing the deposition temperature, time or methane flow rate leads the decrease in N2 adsorption capacity, micropore volume and average pore diameter of CMSs. The adsorption selectivity coefficient of CO2/CH4 achieves as high as 20.8 over CMSs obtained under the methane flow rate of 30 mL min–1 at 800°C for 70 min. The study demonstrates the prepared CMSs are a candidate adsorbent for CO2/CH4 separation.
Power System Harmonic Estimation Based on Park Transform

This paper presents a novel method for power system harmonic estimation based on the Park transform. The proposed method firstly extends the signal to a group of three-phase signals in a-b-c coordinate. Then, a linear fitting based method is adopted to estimate the fundamental frequency. Afterwards, the Park transform is utilized to convert the three-phase signals from a-b-c coordinate to d-q- 0 coordinate. Finally, the amplitude and phase of a harmonic component of interest can be calculated using the d-axis and q-axis components obtained. Simulation studies have been conducted using matrix laboratory (MATLAB) and power system computer aided design/electromagnetic transients including direct current (PSCAD/EMTDC). Simulation studies in MATLAB have considered three scenarios, i.e., no-frequency-deviation scenario, frequency-deviation scenario and the scenario in the presence of inter-harminics. The results have demonstrated that the proposed method achieves very high accuracy in frequency, phase and amplitude estimation under noisy conditions, and suffers little influence of the inter-harmonics. Moreover, comparison studies have proved that the proposed method is superior to FFT and Interpolated FFT with the Hanning Window (IpFFTHW). Finally, a popular case in PSCAD/EMTDC has been employed to further verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

<P>Recently, perovskite oxide heterostructures have drawn great attention because multiple and complex coupling at the heterointerface may produce novel magnetic and electric phenomena that are not expected in homogeneous materials either in the bulk or in films. In this work, we report for the first time that an emergent giant topological Hall effect (THE), associated with a noncoplanar (NC) spin texture, can be induced in ferromagnetic (FM) La<SUB>0.7</SUB>Sr<SUB>0.3</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB> thin films in a wide temperature range of up to 200 K by constructing La<SUB>0.7</SUB>Sr<SUB>0.3</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB>/SrIrO<SUB>3</SUB> epitaxial heterostructures on (001) SrTiO<SUB>3</SUB> substrates. This THE is not observed in La<SUB>0.7</SUB>Sr<SUB>0.3</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB> single-layer films or La<SUB>0.7</SUB>Sr<SUB>0.3</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB>/SrTiO<SUB>3</SUB>/SrIrO<SUB>3</SUB> trilayer heterostructures, indicating the relevance of the La<SUB>0.7</SUB>Sr<SUB>0.3</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB>/SrIrO<SUB>3</SUB> interface, where the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction due to strong spin-orbital coupling in SrIrO<SUB>3</SUB> may play a crucial role. The fictitious field associated with THE is independent of temperature in La<SUB>0.7</SUB>Sr<SUB>0.3</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB>/SrIrO<SUB>3</SUB> heterostructures, suggesting that the NC spin texture may be magnetic skyrmions. This work demonstrates the feasibility of using SrIrO<SUB>3</SUB> to generate novel magnetic and transport characteristics by interfacing with other correlated oxides, which might be useful to novel spintronic applications.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Large magnitude common-mode voltage (CMV) and its variation dv/dt have an adverse effect on motor drives that leads to early winding failure and bearing deterioration. For matrix converters, the switch states that connect each output line to a different input phase result in the lowest CMV among all of the valid switch states. To reduce the output CMV for matrix converters, this paper presents a new space vector modulation (SVM) strategy by utilizing these switch states. By this mean, the peak value and the root mean square of the CMV are dramatically decreased. In comparison with the conventional SVM methods this strategy has a similar computation overhead. Experiment results are shown to validate the effectiveness of the proposed modulation method.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Acanthopanax senticosus extract (ASE) as a dietary additive on gut microflora in weaned piglets. A total of sixty pigs were weaned at 21 d of age (BW = $5.64{\pm}0.23kg$) and allocated on the basis of BW and litter to three dietary treatments in a randomized complete block design. The dietary treatments were: control group (basal diet), antibiotics group (basal diet+0.02% colistin), and ASE group (basal diet+0.1% ASE). On d 7, 14 and 28 after consuming the experimental diets, five piglets per group were sacrificed and then the contents from the jejunum, ileum and cecum were collected to determine changes in the microbial community by using a polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) technique and estimating the contents of Lactobacillus and E. coli by in vitro culturing methods. The results showed that the ASE promoted the microflora diversity in the cecum. Enumeration of bacteria in the gut contents showed that the number of Lactobacillus increased (p<0.05), while that of E. coli decreased (p<0.05) when compared with the other 2 groups as the days of age progressed post-weaning. These findings suggested that the ASE, as a substitute for dietary antimicrobial products, could improve the development of the normal gut microflora and suppress bacterial pathogens, and effectively promote a healthy intestinal environment.
