        Mobile multimedia services have rapidly evolved in the areas mainly including cell phones. Due to the increment of data traffic, processing load of server systems, network congestion and response time of clients also increase constantly. In this paper, a layered transmission technology is proposed of which the size of requested stream from clients has reduced and its performance is evaluated through the simulation. The layered transmission decreases data traffic to 78.5% averagely by converting format of data source in accordance with the playback performance of mobile devices. It is analyzed that decrement of streaming data size depends on EFS, resolution of LCD screen, and bytes per pixel. For real applications, layered transmission consists of modules based on filters using the Directshow considering portability, scalability, and reusability.

        The Development of the USB-DMB Receiver

        As analog audio systems are changing to digital systems, the DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is expected to provide CD quality audio, various data services with interactiveness and excellent mobile reception ability. The DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), as more advanced successor of the DAB, adds video capability on the audio and data services. The DAB system assures high quality audio services even when the reception is through portable and mobile receivers. In this paper, USB-DAB receiver and PCI-DMB receiver are designed and implemented. The DAB receiver and the DMB receiver incorporate with PC to make use of computational power and application software of Pc. This enables the developed system to be more flexible and to meet various applications easier.

        Acute Energy Expenditure to Concurrent Aerobic and Hydraulic Resistance Exercise in Obese Women

        It has been reported that combining both hydraulic resistance exercise and aerobic exercise (PACE) improves cardiorespiratory fitness and muscular strength in non-obese individuals. This study examined the effect of PACE training in obese women on energy expenditure during moderate self-selected intensity exercise. We tested the hypothesis that PACE training would elicit greater energy expenditure than stationary cycle exercise. Ten obese women completed a maximal exercise test. On separate days, all participants performed a submaximal PACE and a stationary cycle exercise trial. Submaximal energy expenditure (6.2±0.4 vs. 5.5±0.4 kcal/min), oxygen uptake (20.3±0.75 vs. 18.1+0.57 ml/kg/min), heart rate (142±5 vs. 136±6 bpm), percentage of oxygen uptake reserve (64.5+5 vs. 55.4±3%), and percentage of maximal heart rate 79±4 vs. 76±4%) were significantly higher during PACE compared to cycling exercise. Results suggest that self-selected PACE training optimizes energy expenditure during submaximal intensity exercise in obese individuals.

        TP 계수를 이용한 적응적 실시간 트래픽 할당 스케듈러의 성능 향상에 관한 연구

        현재 융합 산업과 유비쿼터스 기술이 고도화되면서 U-City, 스마트폰과 같은 다양한 인프라 및 장치에서 고부하를 요구하는 네트워크 컨텐츠를 지원하고 있다. 이에 따라 멀티미디어 데이터와 같은 전통적인 고부하 컨텐츠의 실시간 참조가 급증하여 네트워크 부하에 따른 멀티미디어 재생 품질이 급격히 하락할 것으로 예상된다. 본 논문에서는 서로 다른 재생 성능을 가지는 다양한 클라이언트 매체가 요청하는 스트림 전송량을 시간 중심의 컨텐츠 선호도와 매체 선호도를 통합한 TP(Top Performance) 계수에 따라 MMS(Multimedia Streaming Server)의 가용 트래픽을 차등 할당하여 멀티미디어 재생 품질을 향상시키는 MPP(Media Preference for Presentation) 기반의 트래픽 할당 기법을 개선하였다. 통합된 TP 계수를 실시간 트래픽 할당 스케듈러에 적용하고, 시뮬레이션 실험을 통해 멀티미디어 재생 스트림이 서버의 가용 트래픽 이내에서 할당되고 있음을 확인하였다. 그리고 MPP 기반의 실시간 스케듈링 알고리즘을 시간 중심형 영상 컨텐츠와 매체 선호도의 가중치를 이용하여 통합한 TP 계수를 이용하여 개선하였고, 실험을 통해 트래픽을 요청하는 3개의 클라이언트에 대해 3.91%, 4개의 클라이언트에 대해 3.88%의 가용 트래픽 손실률을 줄였다. As recent fusion industry and ubiquitous technology have grown fast, network contents, which require high load, are provided in various infrastructures and facilities such as u-city and smart phones. Therefore, it is anticipated that the playback quality of multimedia compared to network loads degrades dramatically due to the drastic increment of real-time reference of conventional high load contents (eg. multimedia data). In this paper, we improved the method of the traffic assignment based on MPP which elevated the playback quality of multimedia by assigning discriminately the possible traffic of MMS with TP coefficients. When the TP coefficient which combines content preference with media preference was applied to a real-time traffic assignment scheduler, the simulation results showed that the multimedia playback stream was assigned within the possible traffic of a server. The real-time scheduling algorithm was improved by using the TP coefficient that combines the time-dependent image contents and the weighted value of media preference. It was observed from the experiment that the loss of the possible traffic decreases to 3.91% and 3.88% for three and four clients respectively.

        Molecular conformation and crystallinity of white colored silkworm cocoons with different silkworm varieties

        Bombyx mori silkworm has many silkworm varieties and the structure and properties of silk can be varied depending on the silkworm variety. Therefore, the choice of proper silkworm variety can be an effective way to control and improve the performance of silk materials in biomedical and cosmetic applications. As a preliminary study, in the present study, thirty nine Bombyx mori silkworm cocoons were prepared and their molecular conformation and crystallinity were examined. Molecular conformation and the crystallinity of silkworm cocoons were different depending on the silkworm variety. Interestingly, the crystallinity index of outside of cocoon was different from that of inside of cocoon and the difference between the crystallinities of outside and inside of cocoon was varied depending on the silkworm variety. In this study, the silkworm variety cocoons were classified into three groups (Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3) based on the difference of crystallinities between outside and inside.

        A Study on the Built-In Self-Test for AC Parameter Testing of SDRAM using Image Graphic Controller

        We have proposed BIST method and circuit for embedded 16M SDRAM with logic. It can test the AC parameter of embedded 16M SDRAM using the BIST circuit capable of detecting the address of a fail cell installed in an Merged Memory with Logic(MML). It generates the information of repair for redundancy circuit. The function and AC parameter of the embedded memory can also be tested using the proposed BIST method. It is possible to test the embedded SDRAM without external test pin. The total gate of the BIST circuit is approximately 4,500 in the case of synthesizing by 0.25μm cell library and is verified by Verilog simulation. The test time of each one AC parameter is about 200ms using 2Y-March 14n algorithm.

        Crystallinity of yellow colored silkworm variety cocoons

        The structure and properties of silk polymers (fibroin and sericin) can be satisfactorily controlled by choosing a suitable silkworm variety and, hence, this parameter (i.e., silkworm variety) has attracted increasing attention. A previous study reported that the crystallinity of white colored silkworm cocoons depends on the silkworm variety. In the present study, sixteen yellow colored silkworm variety cocoons were produced and their molecular conformation and crystallinity were investigated. The conformation of the silkworm cocoons varied with the silkworm variety. Most cocoons exhibited ${\beta}$-sheet conformation, although random coil and ${\beta}$-sheet conformations co-existed in some cocoons (e.g., 21 and D90). The crystallinity of the silkworm cocoons varied with the silkworm variety and the measurement position of the cocoon (i.e., outer surface or inner surface). However, the difference in the crystallinity indices of the outer and inner surfaces comprising the cocoons varied with the silkworm variety, but was <2% for all cocoons, except for MAL.
