Two new 2-C-β-D-glucopyranosyl benzoic acid derivatives named mallonanosides A (1) and B (2) were isolated from the methanolic extract of the leaves of Mallotus nanus along with five known flavonoids, kaempferin (3), juglanin (4), quercitrin (5), myricitrin (6), and rhoifolin (7). Their structures were established on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence. Their antioxidant activities were shown to depend on the number of hydroxyl groups, and the location and species of sugar moiety.

Nanocrystals of CePO4:Tb were prepared by reacting the corresponding metal chlorides, phos- phoric acid and trioctylamine at 200℃ in tris(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate (TEHP). The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The photoluminescence (PL) and the absorption spectra of CePO4:Tb nanoparticles will be presented. The PL spectra are described by using the well-known 5D4 - 7FJ transitions (J = 6, 5, 4, 3 ···) of Tb3+ ions with the strongest emission at 543 nm for J = 5. The dependence of PL intensity on Tb3+ concentration has been investigated. A new compound, 3β-acetoxylanosta-7,9(11),24-triene-26-al (3), and seven known compounds (1 – 2 and 4 – 8) were isolated from Ganoderma tropicum (Jung.) Bres. collected in Tay Nguyen, Vietnam. The structures of these compounds were determined by one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and high-resolution ESI-MS, and by comparison with literature data. All of the isolated compounds were tested for nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction activity in Saccharomyces cerevisiae-stimulated RAW 246.7 cells. Among them, compounds 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 enhanced the NBT reduction in a dose-dependent manner.

In accordance with huge demand for capital to meet the expansion of steel production, there are more and more steel companies who have officially listed their stocks in HOSE and HNX. One of the key issues in successful initial public offerings and seasonal offerings for these companies is how to make stocks of steel companies become more attractive in the eyes of investors. The purpose of this research is to analyze the determinants of share prices of listed steel companies in Vietnam. This study utilized macro-economic variables, ratios and indicators representing characteristics of steel industry collected from Quarter 1/2006 to Quarter 4/2019 in association with the panel data and the feasible generalized least square (FGLS) model to evaluate the degree of these factors on the share prices. The results of the research show that ROE, Cons_rate, and CO2_rate are three main factors affecting the share prices of listed steel companies. Among which, ROE and Cons_rate have a positive effect, while CO2_rate has a negative effect on the share prices of listed steel companies. It also confirms the relationship between the environmental factor, construction industry factor and the stock prices. This lays foundations for recommendations for the future policies towards environmental protection and sustainable development.

The methanol extract of Zanthoxylum rhetsa (MZRR) were evaluated for its ability to suppress the formation of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated RAW 264.7 macrophages. MZRR presented an inhibition of LPS-induced production of nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in RAW 264.7 macrophages. Western blotting and RT-PCR analyses demonstrated that MZRR significantly inhibited the protein and mRNA expressions of iNOS and COX-2 in LPS-activated macrophages in a dose-dependent manner. LPS-induced COX-2, iNOS, and nuclear factor kappa beta (NF-kB) activity were also decreased in the presence of MZRR. The production of tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), the mRNA expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-a and IL-1b, were reduced after MZRR administration in a dose dependent-manner. These results suggest that the MZRR extract involved in the inhibition of iNOS and COX-2 via the NF-kB pathway, revealing a partial molecular basis for anti-inflammatory properties of the MZRR extract.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is a progressive disease involving the accumulation of lipid droplets in the liver. In this study, we investigated the anti-hepatosteatosis effects of fermented Cordyceps militaris extract (CME) in AML-12 hepatocytes. Although the levels of adenosine and cordycepin were reduced in the extracts of CM grown on germinated soybean (GSCE) and fermented CM grown on germinated soybean (GSC) by Pediococcus pentosaceus ON188 (ON188E), the expression of fatty acid oxidation (FAO) genes were upregulated only by GSC-ON188E treatment in a dose-dependent manner. In contrast, a lipogenic gene, stearoyl Coenzyme A desaturase 1, was downregulated by ON188E. Formation of intracellular lipid droplets by the addition of oleic acid was reduced by ON188E to levels observed in WY14643-treated cells. When cells were treated with ON188E, sphingosine kinase 2 mainly responsible for hepatic sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) synthesis was upregulated and S1P was elevated. Collectively, the fermented GSC extract activates FAO through elevation of S1P synthesis and has potential as a therapeutic for hepatosteatosis.

A single coronary artery (SCA) is a rare congenital anomaly. In most cases, it is an incidental finding on coronary angiography and has no clinical significance. However, it can cause angina, myocardial infarction, or even sudden death. Reports of SCA with acute myocardial infarction are very rare in the medical literature. This case study presents a patient with SCA from the right aortic sinus with severe stenosis in the proximal and distal part of the right coronary artery, which was detected using cardiac angiography and cardiac multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) with acute myocardial infarction.

Synthesis of Carbon Nanotubes on Steel Foils
Nguyen Van Chuc,Nguyen Duc Dung,Phan Ngoc Hong,Le Dinh Quang,Phan Hong Khoi,Phan Ngoc Minh 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.52 No.5
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were synthesized by using a thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) at 800 ℃ in a mixture of C₂H₂, H₂ and N₂ gases with steel foils as both catalysts and substrates. More than 2 grams of CNTs were grown on approximately 7 grams of steel foil with a 0.5 cm² surface area after 30 minutes of growth. The effects of CVD parameters, such as the growth temperature and the deposition time, on the size and the morphology of the CNTs were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). We found that the optimized temperature and growth time for having high quality CNTs were 800 ℃ and 30 minutes, respectively. The purity of the CNTs was evaluated by using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and the result showed that the carbon content was approximately 93 wt.%. The graphite crystallinity of the CNTs was analyzed by using Raman spectroscopy. The steel foil was found to maintain its catalytic behavior after several growths. The technique holds great promise for use in mass production (approximately 120 grams CNTs per day) with signicantly reduced cost.
