탄력적 교육체제 모델로서 초·중 통합운영학교의 현황과 과제

이 연구는 탄력적 교육체제를 구현할 수 있는 모델 학교로서 초등학교와 중학교 간 통합운영학교의 운영 현황과 문제점을 체계적으로 분석하고 주요 개선 방안을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 두 가지 연구문제를 설정하였다. 초·중 통합운영학교의 운영 실태는 어떠한가? 둘째, 초·중 통합운영학교의 필요성, 문제점, 개선 과제 등에 대한 구성원 및 교육청 담당자의 인식은 어떠한가? 연구문제 해결을 위해 전국 45개 초·중 통합운영학교의 운영 현황에 대한 실태 조사와 통합운영학교의 교원, 학부모, 교육청 전문직을 대상으로 초점집단면담을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 통합운영학교에서 교육과정 및 학사 운영, 교직원 인사 및 업무, 교육시설 및 교육기자재 활용은 대체로 학교급별로 분리되어 있으며, 교육과정 통합운영은 창의적 체험활동, 방과 후 교육활동 등에서 부분적으로 이루어지는 것으로 나타났다. 초점집단면담을 통해 통합운영학교의 장점(필요성), 문제점, 개선 과제를 도출하였으며, 이를 종합하여 통합운영학교를 중심으로 한 탄력적 교육체제 운영을 위한 개선 방안을 지원체제(행정적·제도적 장치), 인적체제(교원), 과업체제(교육과정), 문화적 체제(교직문화·학교문화) 측면에서 제시하였다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status, problems and improvement tasks of combined elementary and middle school, which is a model school that can implement a flexible education system for public education innovation. For this purpose, two research questions were established. First, what is the current state of combined elementary and middle schools? Second, what is the perceptions of the school members and the personnel of the Office of Education about the strengths(necessity), problems, and improvement tasks of combined schools? In order to explore the research questions, a survey on the current status of 45 combined schools nationwide and focus group interviews were conducted with teachers, parents, and personnel of the Office of Education. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the curriculum and academic operation, personnel and duties of faculty and staff, and the use of educational facilities and educational equipments were generally separated by school level in the combined schools, and the integrated operation of the curriculum was partially performed in creative experience activities and after-school programs. Through the focus group interviews, the strengths (necessity), problems, and improvement tasks of the combined schools were derived. Based on these research results, tasks for the operation of a flexible education system centered on combined schools were developed in terms of support system (administrative /institutional aspect), human resource system (teacher), task system (curriculum), and cultural system (teacher culture/school culture).

Influencing Factors on Job Stress of Adult Workers in Continuous Smoking Cessation

본 연구는 1년 이상 금연 유지에 성공한 성인 근로자의 직무스트레스 영향요인을 파악하고 분석하기 위해 시도되었다. 본 연구는 D시와 G도 지역의 금연프로그램에 참여한 후 현재 1년 이상 금연하고 있는 연구 참여자 98명을 대상으로 2018년 9월 1일부터 2018년 12월 31일까지 자료 수집하였다. 연구결과 대상자의 직무스트레스는 금연 자기효능감 정도와는 역 상관관계가 있었으며, 우울 및 니코틴 의존도와는 순 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 직무스트레스에 영향을 미치는 유의한 요인은 우울, 직업 유형, 니코틴 의존도, 금연 자기효능감으로 이들 변수의 직무스트레스에 대한 설명력은 47.0%였으며, 직무스트레스에 가장 유의하게 영향을 미치는 요인은 우울임이 확인되었다. 성공적인 금연유지를 하고 있는 청년 및 중년 근로자의 직무 스트레스 감소를 위하여 우울을 우선적으로 중재하고, 그들이 경험하는 우울 정도, 니코틴 의존도, 금연 자기효능감과 직무스트레스를 주기적으로 사정하고 관리하기 위한 금연 중재 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. The aim at this study was to analyze the influencing factors on the job stress of adult workers in continuous smoking cessation. The participants of this study were 98 adult workers who took part in the smoking cessation program for 6 months and have ceased smoking successfully for more than a year. It is shown that job stress has a positive correlation with depression and nicotine dependence, but a negative correlation with smoking cessation self-efficacy. The significant factors influencing job stress include depression, type of occupation, nicotine dependence, smoking cessation self-efficacy, all of which explained 47.0% of the variance in job stress. Depression was one of the most significant factors for job stress among adult workers who succeeded for more than a year of continuous smoking cessation. The results demonstrate the need of developing smoking cessation intervention programs to reduce job stress in a way to reduce depression first and then periodically assess and manage the level of depression, nicotine dependence and smoking cessation self-efficacy.

Miscarriages of Justice and Transactions of Moral Sentiments in Godwin`s Caleb Williams

This paper explores the ways in which miscarriages of justice urge readers to critique juridical reason on the basis of the transactions of moral sentiments, focusing on William Godwin’s novel, Caleb Williams (1794). Godwin’s work presents the possibility of rectifying the failure of justice with the limited and yet forceful performance of sympathy for Caleb Williams. The novel foregrounds the question of inequity between Caleb and his victimizer, Ferdinando Falkland. In particular, class and economic inequity intensifies the unequal distribution of justice. Narrated in the first person, the novel elaborates upon the contradictions of the law that conspires to shore up the established social order by playing on the limitations of the narrator’s perspective. Seemingly transparent, the first-person narrative serves to reveal the very opacity of legal and ethical judgment. Insofar as the law entails power, the novel reveals the corruptibility of juridical institutions as opposed to justice, which always remains yet to be realized in Jacques Derrida’s sense. Caleb Williams shows the ways in which the law defers political justice and consequently undermines its foundation, even as it circulates the excess of feelings such as resentment, sympathy, frustration, guilt, anxiety, of not only Caleb but also Falkland. Sympathy serves as a useful vehicle for the protagonist to elicit poetic justice from readers, however limited it may be. Bearing witness to the repeated failures of serving justice, readers must rely on their own private judgment and attempt to recuperate justice outside of the text. Nonetheless, the moral value of sympathy is equivocal as Caleb’s sympathy for Falkland accounts for his uncontrollable curiosity about the impenetrableness of the latter’s mind and thus blurs the borderline of criminality. Yet, regardless of his predicament as an object of constant surveillance and social injustices, Caleb proves his moral superiority and consequently asserts his independence though his private judgment not because of his triumph at the court, but by maintaining his capacity of feeling sympathy for his victimizer. Therefore, Godwin’s novel challenges Enlightenment rationalism that precludes moral sentiments, thus highlighting the instability and limitations that both the legal institutions and the narrative technique entail. Godwin demands his readers to maintain a critical distance from the dominant ideology of justice and morality, questioning the violence of legal rhetoric and the autonomy of private judgment that the novel endorses.

Examining the effects of the Durunuri programme on low-wage workers’ social insurance coverage in South Korea

This study examined the effects of the Durunuri programme in Korea, a Making Work Pay policy initiated in 2012 that subsidises social insurance contributions of low-wage workers in workplaces with fewer than 10 employees. Using a nationally representative sample of Korean low-wage workers between the years 2010 and 2015, the study employs a difference-in-differences method to isolate the effect of the Durunuri programme on workers’ subscription, compared with ineligible low-wage workers in workplaces with 10 or more but fewer than 30 employees, eligible low-wage workers in workplaces with fewer than 10 employees were found to experience an increase in the odds of being subscribed to both the national pension and employment insurance programmes during the first, second, and third year following implementation of the Durunuri programme. Policy implications as well as future policy modifications are further discussed.

Heparin–deoxycholic acid chemical conjugate as an anticancer drug carrier and its antitumor activity

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>A chemically modified heparin–DOCA (HD) conjugate was developed as a drug carrier for cancer therapy. HD conjugate was found to have markedly low anticoagulant activity and to form self-assembled nanoparticles in aqueous condition. We observed that HD conjugate prevented squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and human umbilical vascular endothelial cell (HUVEC) proliferation during BrdU incorporation assays. Here, we prepared doxorubicin-loaded heparin nanoparticles by entrapping doxorubicin into the amphiphilic HD conjugate by physical interaction and characterized the properties of these nanoparticles using Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). In this study, doxorubicin-loaded heparin nanoparticles were designed to improve the antitumor effects of nano-sized particles (range of 180 to 210?nm) at high drug-loading efficiencies in the range 64% to 96%. These doxorubicin-loaded heparin nanoparticles displayed sustained drug release patterns. It was confirmed in vivo toxicity studies that HD conjugate did not induce unexpected side effects and that DHN 20 was safer than free DOX. An in vivo study showed that HD conjugate, doxorubicin and DHN 20 (one of doxorubicin-loaded heparin nanoparticles) induced tumor volume reductions of 43%, 56% and 74%, respectively, relative to the saline treated control. These results suggest that the drug-entrapped with heparin nanoparticles might provide a novel therapy for SCC.</P>

OVERVIEW OF KSTAR INTEGRATED CONTROL SYSTEM

After more than 10 years construction, KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) had finally completed its assembly in June 2007, and then achieved the goal of first-plasma in July 2008 through the four month’s commissioning. KSTAR was constructed with fully superconducting magnets with material of Nb3Sn and NbTi, and their operation temperatures are maintained below 4.5K by the help of Helium Refrigerator System. During the first-plasma operation, plasmas of maximum current of 133kA and maximum pulse width of 865ms were obtained. The KSTAR Integrated Control System (KICS) has successfully fulfilled its missions of surveillance, device operation, machine protection interlock, and data acquisition and management. These and more were all KSTAR commissioning requirements. For reliable and safe operation of KSTAR, 17 local control systems were developed. Those systems must be integrated into the logically single control system, and operate regardless of their platforms and location installed. In order to meet these requirements, KICS was developed as a network-based distributed system and adopted a new framework, named as EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System). Also, KICS has some features in KSTAR operation. It performs not only 24 hour continuous plant operation, but the shot-based real-time feedback control by exchanging the initiatives of operation between a central controller and a plasma control system in accordance with the operation sequence. For the diagnosis and analysis of plasma, 11 types of diagnostic system were implemented in KSTAR, and the acquired data from them were archived using MDSplus (Model Driven System), which is widely used in data management of fusion control systems. This paper will cover the design and implementation of the KSTAR integrated control system and the data management and visualization systems. Commissioning results will be introduced in brief.

Towards a New Culture: Deconstructing Equality and Difference in Mary Wollstonecraft and Luce Irigaray

This essay claims that feminists could articulate a sexual difference that does not preclude equality and is entirely distinguished from the sort of sexual discrimination and hierarchy that have previously underscored assertions of difference. I propose rethinking female liberation as viewed from the perspectives of two different generations of feminism: Mary Wollstonecraft’s feminism of equality and rationality, and Luce Irigaray’s feminism of difference and embodiment. It is productive to compare the Enlightenment politics of equality and the postmodern ethics of sexual difference. Despite their differences, both thinkers commit themselves to utopian aspirations to create a new culture that will engage cosmopolitan citizenry through the active implementation of a female sexual identity. While Wollstonecraft criticizes a system of morals rooted in an education of affected sensibility for women and puts much stress on reason as an equal human faculty given by God, Irigaray connects the female body to the divine realm through the mediation of angels. Nevertheless, both thinkers assert the role of the divine to affect change and share a belief in the performative function of language. Indeed, they call for liberating women, liberating all from oppressive, dominant male discourse. For both thinkers, the logical foundation for a new culture of becoming is ascribed to the redefinition of the relation to God. Their critique of the traditional notions of reason and sexual difference helps provide alternatives to reality towards the actualization of a utopian spirit of liberty. Therefore, it is imperative to underscore the idea that equality and difference are not incompatible in feminist studies.

Locating John Keats and the Poetics of Dwelling

This paper investigates the ways in which John Keats strives to write from his visits to the Isle of Wight, which is a crucial and yet relatively neglected locality in studies of the relationship between his poetry and places. We aim to underscore Keats’s explicit account of poetry as the sole purpose of his existence while dwelling on the island. In this regard, it is worth noting that Martin Heidegger’s claim for the poetic dwelling of human beings is adequate to our discussion of Keats’s poetics of dwelling as a founding of his being in the words. Keats experienced the Isle of Wight at least three times: first, in April 1817; second, in June, July and August 1819; and third, when he passed by off Yarmouth in September 1820. Despite the fact that Keats stayed only briefly on the island and his base was at Wentworth Place in Hampstead, London, the Isle of Wight was integral to forming Keats’s life and poetry. His dwelling on the Isle of Wight marked important moments: the beginning of Endymion, composing the sonnet “On the Sea” at Carisbrooke; writing the first love letters to Fanny Brawne from Shanklin and working on both Otho the Great and Lamia; and sending Charles Brown the last letter from the soil of his own country, “off Yarmouth,” en route for Italy. Keats’s sense of place points to his aspirations for drawing inspiration from places as mediated by the creative imagination. Hence, this paper calls attention to how Keats puts poetic meanings into places he visited and discovers his continual quest for a fixed point of reference―“still stedfast, still unchangeable.” Keats has created a lasting space of dwelling, that is, his own poetry and letters via the readers.
