Genetic and phenotypic diversity in Solanum lycopersicum genotypes: insights from morpho-molecular and biochemical analyses

        Khan Tamana,Rashid Rizwan,Shah Labiba,Afroza Baseerat,Khan Sabba,Bhat Mohd. Ashraf,Alwutayd Khairiah Mubarak,Mahajan Reetika,정용석,Mansoor Sheikh,Sun Hyeon-Jin 한국식물생명공학회 2024 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.18 No.2

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) crop is well-known for its versatility worldwide and is also recognized as model species used extensively for various genetic studies. The aim of this research was to investigate both inter and intra-genetic diversity present among various tomato genotypes. This investigation was carried out through a comprehensive analysis encompass- ing morphological observations, biochemical assessments, and the utilization of SSR markers. A total of 15 discrete agro- morphological traits and six biochemical traits were undertaken in the current study for evaluating the analysis of variance, genetic parameters and correlation. The analysis of variance indicated significant differences across genotypes for all 15 agro-morphological traits and 6 biochemical traits tested, indicating that the experimental material included considerable vari- ability. Morphological clustering divided the genotypes into 2 clusters and the genotype wise distance matrix was obtained to identify the most diverse genotypes. PCA analysis was conducted to understand the directive relation of traits and magnitude of variability contributed by them. SSR profiling with 24 primers identified 44 alleles with 1.83 as mean number of alleles/ SSR with an average PIC value of 0.31. Structure analysis revealed two sub-populations (K = 2). The AMOVA indicated that 98% of the total variation was present within populations. This study presents a roadmap for composing future breeding strategies for integrating desirable traits in novel tomato lines that combine robustness and nutritive value.

Outcomes of Primary Unilateral Cheiloplasty in Same-Day Surgical Settings

        Mansoor Khan,Hidayat Ullah,Asif Aziz,Muhammad Tahir 대한성형외과학회 2016 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.43 No.3

Background Financial, clinical, and psychological considerations have made same-day surgery an attractive option for a variety of procedures. This article aimed to analyse the postoperative results of same-day primary unilateral cleft nasolabial repair. Methods This study was performed from 2011 to 2014. Unilateral cleft lip patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria were preoperatively classified as mild, moderate, and severe. All patients underwent same-day surgery and were discharged after satisfying the appropriate clinical criteria, receiving thorough counselling, and the establishment of a means of communication by phone. Postoperative outcomes were assessed and stratified according to preoperative severity and the type of repair. Results A total of 423 primary unilateral cleft lip patients were included. Fisher’s anatomical subunit approximation technique was the most common procedure, followed by Noordhoff’s technique. The postoperative outcome was good in 89.8% of cases, fair in 9.9% of cases, and poor in 0.2% of cases. The complication rate was 1.18% (n=5), and no instances of mortality were observed. The average hospital stay was 7.5 hours, leading to a cost reduction of 19% in comparison with patients who stayed overnight for observation. Conclusions Mild unilateral cleft lip was the most common deformity for which Fisher’s anatomical subunit approximation technique was performed in most of the cases, with satisfactory postoperative outcomes. Refinements in the cleft rhinoplasty techniques over the course of the study improved the results regarding cleft nasal symmetry. Single-day primary unilateral cleft cheiloplasty was found to be a cost-effective procedure that did not pose an additional risk of complications.

Effects of a Recessed Camel-gate Head Structure on Normally-off AlGaN/GaN HEMTs

Mansoor Ali Khan,허준우,김영진,박현창,박형무,김현석,문재경 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.5

In this paper, a standalone camel-gate (┐) head structure has been studied to investigate the effects of the field plate (FP) in the source access region in AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs). The camel gate serves as an FP toward the source side. Using this concept of the camel gate, the transconductance and other forward characteristics have been analyzed with regard to the T-gate. It is confirmed that the recessed camel-gate FP scaling enhances the breakdown voltage, transconductance, and output current by reducing the electric field, leakage current, and dispersion in the source access regime. Further, the optimized recessed camel-gate AlGaN/GaN HEMT is suitable for use in RF devices, as it exhibits a frequency in the order of gigahertz.

Diversity in Betasatellites Associated with Cotton Leaf Curl Disease During Source-To-Sink Movement Through a Resistant Host

        Khan, Iftikhar Ali,Akhtar, Khalid Pervaiz,Akbar, Fazal,Hassan, Ishtiaq,Amin, Imran,Saeed, Muhammad,Mansoor, Shahid The Korean Society of Plant Pathology 2016 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.32 No.1

Cotton leaf curl is devastating disease of cotton characterized by leaf curling, vein darkening and enations. The disease symptoms are induced by DNA satellite known as Cotton leaf curl Multan betasatellite (CLCuMuB), dominant betasatellite in cotton but another betasatellite known as Chili leaf curl betasatellite (ChLCB) is also found associated with the disease. Grafting experiment was performed to determine if host plant resistance is determinant of dominant population of betasatellite in cotton (several distinct strains of CLCuMuB are associated with the disease). Infected scion of Gossypium hirsutum collected from field (the source) was grafted on G. arboreum, a diploid cotton species, resistant to the disease. A healthy scion of G. hirsutum (sink) was grafted at the top of G. arboreum to determine the movement of virus/betasatellite to upper susceptible scion of G. hirsutum. Symptoms of disease appeared in the upper scion and presence of virus/betasatellite in the upper scion was confirmed via molecular techniques, showing that virus/betasatellite was able to move to upper scion through resistant G. arboreum. However, no symptoms appeared on G. arboreum. Betasatelites were cloned and sequenced from lower scion, upper scion and G. arboreum which show that the lower scion contained both CLCuMuB and ChLCB, however only ChLCB was found in G. arboreum. The upper scion contained CLCuMuB with a deletion of 78 nucleotides (nt) in the non-coding region between Arich sequence and ${\beta}C1$ gene and insertion of 27 nt in the middle of ${\beta}C1$ ORF. This study may help in investigating molecular basis of resistance in G. arboreum.

      • Association of rs1042522 Polymorphism with Increased Risk of Prostate Adenocarcinoma in the Pakistani Population and its HuGE Review

Khan, Mohammad Haroon,Rashid, Hamid,Mansoor, Qaiser,Hameed, Abdul,Ismail, Muhammad Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.9

Prostate adenocarcinoma is one of the leading causes of cancer related mortality in men but still limited knowledge is available about its associated functional SNPs including rs1042522 (Pro72Arg). The present study was undertaken to explore the association of this SNP with susceptibility to prostate adenocarcinoma along with its structural and functional impacts in the Pakistani population in a case-control study. Three-dimensional structure of human TP53 with Pro72Arg polymorphism was predicted through homology modeling, refined and validated for detailed structure-based assessment. We also carried out a HuGE review of the previous available data for this polymorphism. Different genetic models were used to evaluate the genotypes association with the increased risk of PCa (Allelic contrast: OR=0.0.34, 95%CI 0.24-0.50, p=0.000; GG vs CC: OR=0.17, 95%CI 0.08-0.38, p=0.000; Homozygous: OR=0.08, 95%CI 0.04-0.15, p=0.000; GC vs CC: OR=2.14, 95%CI 1.01-4.51, p=0.046; Recessive model: OR=0.10, 95%CI 0.05-0.18, p=0.000; Log Additive: OR=3.54, 95%CI 2.13-5.89, p=0.000) except the Dominant model (OR=0.77, 95%CI 0.39-1.52, p=0.46). Structure and functional analysis revealed that the SNP in the proline rich domain is responsible for interaction with HRMT1L2 and WWOX. In conclusion, it was observed that the Arg coding G allele is highly associated with increased risk of prostate adenocarcinoma in the Pakistani population (p=0.000).

A New Hybrid Approach of Clustering Based Probabilistic Decision Tree to Forecast Wind Power on Large Scales

        He Chuan,Mansoor Khan,Liu Tianqi,Ullah Farhan 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.2

The wind power forecasting plays a vital role in renewable energy production. Due to the dynamic and uncertain behavior of wind, it is really hard to catch the actual features of wind for accurate forecasting measures. The patchy and instability of wind leading to the assortment of training samples have a main infl uence on the forecasting accuracy. For this purpose, an accurate forecasting method is needed. This paper proposed a new hybrid approach of clustering based probabilistic decision tree to forecast wind power effi ciently. The collected data is screened for noisy information and selected those variables which mainly contribute in accurate predictions. Then, the wind data is normalized using mean and standard deviation to extract playing level fi elds for each feature. Based on the similarity of the data behavior, the K-means clustering algorithm is applied to classify the samples into diff erent groups which contain the historical wind data. Further, the Naïve Bayes (NB) tree is proposed to extract probabilities for each feature in the clusters. The NB tree is a hybrid model of C4.5 and NB methods that successfully applied on three big real-world wind datasets (hourly, monthly, yearly) collected from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The forecasting accuracy exposed that the proposed method could forecast an accurate wind power from hours to years’ data. Comprehensive comparisons are made of the proposed method with the most popular state of the art techniques which show that this method provides more accurate prediction results.
