AQUATIDE Plays a Role as Innovative Skin-Care Vaccine Through The Autophagy Induction

Natural moisturizing factor (NMF) in the stratum corneum has a high moisture retaining efficacy, and plays a major role in the skin barrier function. Pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (PCA) is one of the major NMFs found in human skin. Aquatide, a PCA-mimetic peptide, improves the skin barrier function by stimulating filaggrin expression as well as reducing Trans-Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) correlated with increased water retention and moisturization. Autophagy is the natural destructive mechanism that allows the orderly degradation and recycling of cellular damaged components. So, Increased autophagy delays ageing process and extends longevity. Sirtuin1 (SIRT1) is a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+)-dependent deacetylase functioning in the regulation of metabolism, cell survival and organismal lifespan. AQUATIDE alleviates ROS- and heavy metal-mediated senescence and cytotoxicity of cells by SIRT1-dependent autophagy. Furthermore, AQUATIDE reduces pollen-mediated PGE2 release and keeps the skin healthy during an allergic reaction against pollen treatment. In conclusion, AQUATIDE is considered as the first needle-free “skin-care vaccine” for various troubled skins including inflamed and irritated skin as well as aged skin.

Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation is a relevant environment factor to induce cellular senescence and photoaging. Both autophagy- and silent information regulator T1 (SIRT1)-dependent pathways are critical cellular processes of not only maintaining normal cellular functions, but also protecting cellular senescence in skin exposed to UV irradiation. In the present studies, we investigated whether modulation of autophagy induction using a novel synthetic SIRT1 activator, heptasodium hexacarboxymethyl dipeptide-12 (named as Aquatide), suppresses the UVB irradiation-induced skin aging. Treatment with Aquatide directly activates SIRT1 and stimulates autophagy induction in cultured human dermal fibroblasts. Next, we found that Aquatide-mediated activation of SIRT1 increases autophagy induction via deacetylation of forkhead box class O (FOXO) 1. Finally, UVB irradiation-induced cellular senescence measured by SA-β-gal staining was significantly decreased in cells treated with Aquatide in parallel to occurring SIRT1 activation-dependent autophagy. Together, Aquatide modulates autophagy through SIRT1 activation, contributing to suppression of skin aging caused by UV irradiation.

This article is the fifth translation of a GRADE series published in the BMJ for incorporating the considerations of resources use into grading recommendations. Clinical recommendations inevitably involve judgments about the allocation of resources use (costs). Although costs differ from typical healthcare outcomes, such as mortality, morbidity, and quality of life, costs are another potentially important outcome that differs across and within a jurisdiction. A balance sheet is a useful method for determining if the net benefits are worth the incremental costs. Resource use, not just monetary values, should always be presented in an evidence profile. Formal economic modeling may or may not help judge the certainty of the evidence for resource use.
An Annotated Checklist of Millipedes (Myriapoda: Diplopoda) Inhabiting the Korean Peninsula
김경민,Ameenat Abdulqadri Adebimpe,Anh D Nguyen,Zoltán Korsós,황의욱 한국동물분류학회 2023 Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity Vol.39 No.4
The Korean Peninsula is geographically located in the centre of Far Eastern Asia and has complex and various climate conditions following longitudinal topology, which would expect to be result in high diversity and endemism of millipede. In this study, the millipede fauna of the Korean Peninsula consists of 68 species plus 5 subspecies from 29 genera, 15 families and 7 orders. Of these species/subspecies, 29 and 12 are endemic in South Korea and North Korea, respectively; nine are recorded in both South Korea and North Korea. Each species has been provided comprehensive information including an original report, taxonomic changes, distribution, and remarks if necessary. Moreover, unsolved taxonomic uncertainty of some species included in this checklist should be investigated through further study.
THE BRAND VALUE CHAIN OF ONLINE INSURANCE BROKERS: TAM AND PERCEIVED VALUE APPROACH
Rachata Rungtrakulchai,Maneerat Kor-Udom 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2016 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2016 No.7
This study aims to examine the impact of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, site appearance, informativeness and perceived risk on online brand equity though the brand value chain. The study grounds from two theories: TAM and Perceived value approaches. Five hundred and six sets of questionnaires were used to analyze and produce the research results. The study found that perceived ease of use and informativeness were not related to the customer’s perceived functional value and emotional value on the brand while other factors were significantly related. The results of the study were discussed as well as the research conclusion and recommendations
Undergraduate Mathematics Enhanced With Graphing Technology
Ali, Rosihan M.,Kee, Kor Liew 한국수학교육학회 2004 수학교육연구 Vol.8 No.1
The school of Mathematical Science at University Sains Malaysia has offered a laboratory course on the integration of hand-held technology into the teaching and learning of mathematics since the beginning of the 2001/2002 academic year. This inquiry-based course highlights the explorations and application of mathematics in a data rich modeling environment. In addition, the course addresses several issues related to the effective integration of such technology into the mathematics curriculum. This paper discusses the appropriate use of graphing technology to present mathematical concepts and to support student's understanding in a student-centered learning environment, shares knowledge on the new mathematics that was made possible by hand-held technology, and summarizes student reactions to this innovative learning mode.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of a modifiedmindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT)program for reducing the stress, depressive symptoms, and subjective burden of family caregivers ofpeople with dementia (PWD). Methods: A prospective, parallel-group, randomized controlled trial design was adopted. Fifty-sevenparticipants were recruited from the community and randomized into either the modified MBSRgroup (n ¼ 27) or modified MBCT group (n ¼ 26), receiving seven face-to-face intervention sessions formore than 16 weeks. Various psychological outcomes were measured at baseline (T0), immediately afterintervention (T1), and at the 3-month follow-up (T2). Results: Both interventions were found to be feasible in view of the high attendance (more than 70.0%)and low attrition (3.8%) rates. The mixed analysis of variance (ANOVA) results showed positive withingroupeffects on perceived stress (p ¼ .030, Cohen's d ¼ 0.54), depressive symptoms (p ¼ .002,Cohen's d ¼ 0.77), and subjective caregiver burden (p < .001, Cohen's d ¼ 1.12) in both interventionsacross the time points, whereas the modified MBCT had a larger effect on stress reduction, comparedwith the modified MBSR (p ¼ .019). Conclusion: Both the modified MBSR and MBCT are acceptable to family caregivers of PWD. Their preliminaryeffects were improvements in stress, depressive symptoms, and subjective burden. The modifiedMBCT may be more suitable for caregivers of PWD than the MBSR. A future clinical trial is needed toconfirm their effectiveness in improving the psychological well-being of caregivers of PWD.
