        2002년 기부횟수 자료의 재분석: 수정 및 보완

        Kim 등 (2006)과 Kim 등 (2009)은 2002년에 (사)볼런티어 21에서 조사한 설문자료에 기초하여 우리나라 개인의 기부횟수에 영향을 주는 유의적 설명변수를 보고한 바 있다. 본고에서는 Kim 등 (2006)과 Kim 등 (2009)의 계산오류를 발견하여 이를 수정하고, 아울러 Kim 등 (2009)이 적용한 0이 팽창된 포아송 모형에 로지스틱 회귀모형을 추가하였다. 동 로지스틱 모형으로 기부행위(0, 1)에 영향을 주는 설명변수를 식별하고, 아울러 기부횟수가 작은 군(群)과 큰 군(群)을 판별하여 주는 설명변수를 식별하고자 한다. Kim et al. (2006) and Kim et al. (2009) reported a set of explanatory variables affecting donation frequency when they analyzed nationwide survey data on donations collected in 2002 by Volunteer 21, a nonprofit organization in Korea. The primary purpose of this paper is to correct computational errors found in Kim et al. (2006) and Kim et al. (2009), to rectify major results in the Tables and Figures and to supplement Kim et al. (2009) by providing new results. We add two logistic regressions to the ZIP and a mixture of two Poisson regressions of Kim et al. (2009). Through these two logistic regressions we could detect a set of explanatory variables affecting donation activity (0 or 1) and another set of explanatory variables, in which the volunteer (0, 1) variable is common, discriminating the infrequent donor group from the frequent donor group.

        경시적 자료의 주의력 결핍 과잉행동 장애를 종점으로 한 납의 벤치마크 용량 하한 도출

        본 연구의 목적은 아동 건강에 미치는 환경의 영향을 평가하기 위하여 우리나라 환경부에서 구축한 경시적 자료인 CHEER 자료를 바탕으로 납의 벤치마크 용량 하한(BMDL)을 도출하여 Kim 등 (2014)의 결과를 재현하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 CHEER 자료의 2005년 동집단을 사용하였는데, 벌점화 선형 스플라인을 이용한 변환공식으로 2005년 동집단의 ADHD 평가 척도를 통일하고, 경시적 자료의 특성을 반영한 두 개의 선형혼합모형을 구축하였다. 이후 구축된 모형을 바탕으로 혈중 납 농도의 BMDL을 도출하였다. 이 과정에서 Kim 등 (2014)에서 발견한 ADHD 점수의 평균으로의 회귀 현상이 재확인되었고, 2005년 동집단과 2006년 동집단의 분포 상의 특징적 차이가 발견되었다. 결과적으로 이 차이를 감안했을 때, Kim 등 (2014)과 일치적인 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. This paper is to reproduce the result of Kim et al. (2014) by deriving a benchmark dose lower bound (BMDL) of lead based on the 2005 cohort data set of Children's Health and Environmental Research (CHEER) data set. The ADHD rating scales in the 2005 cohort were not consistent along the three follow-ups since two different ADHD rating scales were used in the cohort. We first unified the ADHD rating scales in the 2005 cohort by deriving a conversion formula using a penalized linear spline. We then constructed two linear mixed models for the 2005 cohort which reflected the longitudinal characteristics of the data set. The first model introduced the random intercept and the random slope terms and the second model assumed the first order autoregressive structure of the error term. Using these two models, we derived the BMDLs of lead and reconfirmed the "regression to the mean" nature of the ADHD score discovered by Kim et al. (2014). We also noticed that there was a definite difference between the sampling distributions of the two cohorts. As a result, taking this difference into account, we were able to obtain the consistent result with Kim et al. (2014).

        신고리 원전 공론조사 데이터 분석을 통한 기술 시민권 탐색

        2017년 정부는 공론조사(시민참여형조사) 방식으로 신고리 5 · 6호 원전 건설 여부를 결정하기로 했다. 최종적으로 471명의 시민이 모든 숙의 과정을 완료했다. 이후 시민참여형조사 방식은 대중적으로 널리 알려졌고 사회적 의사결정의 주요 형식 중 하나로 부상하고 있다. 그런데 정작 관련 분석과 방법론 개발 방향에 대한 논의는 드물다. 조사를 수행한 측(정부)이나 조사 결과를 지지하는 측(건설재개)은 공론조사에 대해 추가적인 분석을 할 필요를 느끼지 않고, 환경운동 단체 등은 역시 조사 결과에 너무 실망한 나머지 그에 대한 구체적인 분석을 하지 않고 있다. 본 논문은 질적 연구방법과 양적 연구방법을 혼합하여 사용했다. 먼저 공론조사(deliberative polling) 방법론을 탐색했는데, 사실 공론조사 자체야말로 질적 접근과 양적 접근을 혼합한 모델이다. 질적 연구를 위한 이론적 배경으로 “기술 시민권(technological citizenship)” 개념을 채택했다. 공론화위원회가 공개한 데이터를 분석함으로써 시민참여단의 의사결정 분화 양상을 분석할 것인데, 이 과정에서 우리는 자신의 기술적 견해를 표명하는 ‘기술 시민의 정체성’을 탐색할 것으로 기대한다. 마지막으로 이번 시민참여형조사 방법론에 대한 몇 가지 문제를 제기하고자 한다. 시민참여형조사 방식은 이제 형성되어 가는 중이다. ‘기술의 정치’ 과정에서 이 방식은 상향식 민주주의로 진화할 수도 있고 단지 기능주의에 불과한 것으로 남겨질 가능성도 여전히 남아 있다. In 2017, the Public Deliberation Committee on Shin-Gori Nuclear Reactors No. 5 & 6 was set up to decide whether to build a nuclear power plant at Shin-gori through a deliberative polling method. Finally, 471 citizens completed the deliberative polling (participatory survey methodology) processes. Since then, this particular method has become widely known and has become a form of social decision-making. Nevertheless, actual discussions for the related analysis and its methodological development are rare. The group (government committee) that conducted the deliberative polling, and the entities that supported the “construction resumption” opinion did not feel the necessity of more analysis; meanwhile, environment movement groups were greatly disappointed with this case so that they also do not want to paying any specific attention for more analysis. This paper uses mixed methods of qualitative research and quantitative research. We first explored the deliberative polling methodology, which also is a mixture of qualitative and quantitative approaches itself. We are here concerned with the “Technological citizenship” that is as the theoretical concept of this study. Our purpose is to find ‘them’ within that polling data released by the committee. Next, our paper presents the differentiating patterns of citizen participation decision making by analyzing the raw data. In this process, it could expect to be able to meet a ‘the identity of technological citizen’ emerging over the analysis data. The study also raises some questions and offer few specific suggestions on deliberative polling methodology. That method is now being formed. There is a possibility that it could either evolve into a form of bottom-up democracy or just be a simple functional tool of the technological political system.

        The reality in the follow-up of breast cancer survivors

        Purpose: Follow-up after primary treatment for breast cancer is an important component of survivor care and various international guidelines exist for the surveillance. However, little is known about current actual practice patterns of physicians whether they adhere to or deviate from recommended guidelines. The aim of this study was to determine how physicians follow-up their patients after primary treatment for breast cancer in Korea. Methods: A questionnaire survey with 34 questions in 4 categories was e-mailed to the members of Korean Breast Cancer Society from November to December 2013. Respondents were asked how they use follow-up modalities after primary treatment of breast cancer and we compared the survey results with present guidelines. Results: Of the 129 respondents, 123 (95.3%) were breast surgeons. The most important consideration in follow-up was tumor stage. History taking, physical examinations, and mammography were conducted in similar frequency recommended by other guidelines while breast ultrasonography was performed more often. The advanced imaging studies such as CT, MRI, and bone scan, which had been recommended to be conducted only if necessary, were also examined more frequently. Regular screenings for secondary malignancy were performed in 38 respondents (29.5%). Five years later after primary treatment, almost the whole respondents (94.6%) themselves monitored their patients. Conclusion: A majority of respondents have been performed more intensive follow-up modalities in comparison with present guidelines and less frequently screenings for secondary malignancy. For optimal follow-up of breast cancer survivors, tailored delivery system should be considered.

        Severe congenital neutropenia mimicking chronic idiopathic neutropenia: a case report

        Severe chronic neutropenia is classified as severe congenital, cyclic, autoimmune, or idiopathic. However, there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the diagnosis of severe congenital neutropenia (SCN) and chronic idiopathic neutropenia, and this uncertainty affects further evaluations and treatments. A 20-year-old man presented with fever and knee abrasions after a bicycle accident. On admission, his initial absolute neutrophil count (ANC) was 30/μL. He had no medical history of persistent severe neutropenia with periodic oscillation of ANC. Although his fever resolved after appropriate antibiotic therapy, ANC remained at 80/μL. Bone marrow (BM) aspiration and biopsy were performed, and a BM smear showed myeloid maturation arrest. Moreover, genetic mutation test results showed a heterozygous missense variant in exon 4 of the neutrophil elastase ELANE: c597+1G>C (pV190-F199del). The patient was diagnosed with SCN. After discharge, we routinely checked his ANC level and monitored any signs of infection with minimum use of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), considering its potential risk of leukemic transformation. Considering that SCN can be fatal, timely diagnosis and appropriate management with G-CSF are essential. We report the case of a patient with SCN caused by ELANE mutation who had atypical clinical manifestations. For a more accurate diagnosis and treatment of severe chronic neutropenia, further studies are needed to elucidate the various clinical features of ELANE.

      • Analysis of Hysteresis Observed in Multi-Layered MoS<sub>2</sub> Field Effect Transistors

        <P>To implement a field effect transistor with multi-layered MoS2 (hereafter denoted as MoS2 FET), many practical problems need to be overcome, such as the hysteresis generation of the devices. In order to clarify further the origin of the hysteresis observed in the transfer characteristics of the MoS2 FET, we analyzed the capacitance-voltage (C-V) characteristics of the MoS2 capacitor. The MoS2 capacitor can overcome the effect of the adsorbed molecules (e. g., water molecules) on the hysteresis generation. Based on both the arguments presented in previous works for the role of sulfur vacancy in MoS2 and the hysteresis characteristics of the MoS2 capacitor observed in the current work, we suggest a model for the donor-like interface traps that originated from the sulfur vacancy defects at the SiO2/MoS2 interface to determine the origin of hysteresis generation in MoS2 FET. We further argue that the energy level of donor-like interface traps is mainly localized below the mid-band gap, which explains the asymmetrical increase of hysteresis depending on the direction of gate sweep voltage.</P>

        GATA25, a novel regulator, accelerates the flowering time of Arabidopsis thaliana

        Intrinsic and exogenous signals in conjunction precisely regulate the initiation of flowering. Both signals influence flowering time, which is an integral part of plant reproduction. The signals converge through different pathways, and their coordinated action leads to the onset of flowering. Genetic pathways related to the regulation of flowering time are well-known from research into the molecular genetics of Arabidopsis thaliana. Specifically, crucial components of the photoperiodic pathway and floral integrators play a critically significant role in flowering. In this study, we found that GATA25 is a novel transcription factor that accelerates flowering time under long days. GATA25 encodes C-X2-C-X20-C-X2-C conserved cysteine residues of the zinc-finger domain and CCT domain which process photoperiodic flowering and regulate circadian rhythms. Flowering was accelerated by overexpression of GATA25 throughout the Arabidopsis thaliana. In contrast, GATA25 fused to SRDX (SUPERMAN repressive domain X)-motif plants showed delayed flowering. We also demonstrated that GATA25 induced the expression of floral integrator genes and photoperiodic pathway-related genes.
