        Nanohybrid magnetic liposome functionalized with hyaluronic acid for enhanced cellular uptake and near-infrared-triggered drug release

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The aim of this work is to prepare and evaluate a novel lipid-polymer hybrid liposomal nanoplatform (hyaluronic acid-magnetic nanoparticle-liposomes, HA-MNP-LPs) as a vehicle for targeted delivery and triggered release of an anticancer drug (docetaxel, DTX) in human breast cancer cells. We first synthesize an amphiphilic hyaluronic acid hexadecylamine polymer (HA-C<SUB>16</SUB>) to enhance the targeting ability of the hybrid liposome. Next, HA-MNP-LPs are constructed to achieve an average size of 189.93±2.74nm in diameter. In addition, citric acid-coated magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) are prepared and embedded in the aqueous cores while DTX is encapsulated in the hydrophobic bilayers of the liposomes. Experiments with coumarin 6 loaded hybrid liposomes (C6/HA-MNP-LPs) show that the hybrid liposomes have superior cellular uptake in comparison with the conventional non-targeting liposomes (C6/MNP-LPs), and the result is further confirmed by Prussian blue staining. Under near-infrared laser irradiation (NIR, 808nm), the HA-MNP-LPs aqueous solution can reach 46.7°C in 10min, and the hybrid liposomes released over 20% more drug than the non-irradiated liposomes. Using a combination of photothermal irradiation and chemotherapy, the DTX-loaded hybrid liposomes (DTX/HA-MNP-LPs) significantly enhance therapeutic efficacy, with the IC<SUB>50</SUB> value of 0.69±0.10μg/mL, which is much lower than the values for DTX monotherapy. Consequently, the prepared hybrid nanoplatform may offer a promising drug delivery vehicle with selective targeting and enhanced drug release in treating CD44-overexpressing cancers.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Novel polymer-lipid nanohybrid liposomes for active tumor targeting are synthesized. </LI> <LI> Magnetic nanoparticles and drug are encapsulated for photothermal-chemotherapy. </LI> <LI> Nanohybrid liposomes significantly enhance cellular uptake to breast cancer cells. </LI> <LI> Near-infrared light can trigger drug release from the nanohybrid liposomes. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        The environmental effects of microplastics on aquatic ecosystems

        Purpose of review: Contamination of aquatic ecosystems by plastics under 5 mm in size, which are classified as microplastics (MPs), is becoming increasingly serious, and research on the ecotoxicity of MPs is needed. In this study, we aimed to present solutions to the problem of MPs through a review of the current state of research on the definition of MPs, usage, leakage, toxicity, and domestic and overseas circulation of plastics. Recent findings: Long-term exposure to MPs results in ecotoxicity. MPs not only deliver chemical substances within organisms, but also act as mediators for chemicals or other contaminants in aquatic environments. Co-exposure to MPs and chemical contaminants has been reported to increase toxicity in several organisms.

      • Comparison of Physiological Activity and Biologically Active Substance in Extract of Three Korea Thistle species

        Thistle has been used for traditional medicine of blood coagulation and hepatoprotection along centuries. According to recent research, It has reported to have outstanding antioxidant activity and liver protection effect. In this study, we extract three species of thistles (C. japonicum, C. nipponicum, C. setidens) using five extraction solvents (Methanol(MeOH), Dichloromethane(MC), n-Butanol(BuOH), Ethyl acetate(EA), Water), then identify antioxidant activity, total polyphenol content, total flavonoid content. DPPH radical scavenging activity of 1 mg/mL of extract is measured the highest activity at 89% in EA fraction of C. nipponicum and ABTS radical scavenging activity of 0.5 mg/mL of extract is measured the highest activity at 94% in BuOH fraction of C. nipponicum. Total polyphenol content is the highest in 320mg GAE/g from BuOH fraction of C. nipponicum. Also total flavonoid content is the highest in 600mg QE/g from BuOH fraction of C. nipponicum. Through 13 Polyphenols and Flavonoids HPLC analysis, EA and BuOH fraction have a high polyphenol contents most of which is chlorogenic acid(EA 40 mg/g, BuOH 65 mg/g), and apigenin, sylingic acid are also contained in extract.

        Capture and toxicity assessment of Ag citrate nanoparticles using jellyfish extract

        Backgrounds In this study, Jellyfsh extract at immunity reaction (JEI) captured Ag citrate nanoparticles (Ag citrate NPs) and reduce toxicity was investigated. Methods JEI obtained from Aurelia aurita was used to assess the capture of Ag citrate NPs (10 mg/L, 2 mg/L) during 24 h, and the toxicity of JEI was assessed using a human cell line BEAS-2B. Results JEI was to reduce Ag citrate NPs in water by 34.55% (10 mg/L) after 1 h and by 40.62~ 41% (2 mg/L, 10 mg/L) after 24 h. When the BEAS-2B was exposed to 2 mg/L of Ag citrate NPs mixed with JEI showed increase 33.97% survival than 2 mg/L of Ag citrate NPs (0%). Furthermore, the apoptosis-related genes (p53, Bcl2, and Bax) showed no signifcant diference in expression upon exposure to JEI, compared to the control. Conclusion JEI is to capture Ag citrate NPs and reduce its nano-toxicity. Therefore, such ability of JEI is likely to prove useful in the control of AgNPs fowing into the aquatic ecosystem.

        키워드 네트워크 분석을 통한 무용교육 연구 동향분석: 2019~2023

        본 연구는 키워드 네트워크 분석을 통하여 무용분야의 무용교육관련 논문들의 연구동향을 분석하여 관련 주제의 하위구조를 SPSS 27.0 과 Textom을 활용하여 분석하였으며, 2019년 이후 최근 5년간 무용교육 관련 연구의 종단적 흐름을 분석함으로써 현재 무용교육의 주요 키워드를 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 키워드 네트워크 분석을 통해 총 559편의 논문이 검색되었으며, 본 연구의 목적에 부합하는 425편의 연구물을 분석 대상으로 선정하여 연구가 수행된 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 무용교육 관련 키워드 빈도분석 결과, 상위 10개를 살펴보면 ‘무용교육’, ‘문화예술교육’, ‘한국무용교육’, ‘무용전공자’, ‘대학무용교육’, ‘무용교육프로그램’, ‘연구동향’, ‘무용교육과정’, ‘초등무용교육’, ‘발레교육’, ‘코로나’ 등의 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 주요 키워드 간의 연결 정도 중심성을 살펴본 결과, 상위 5개의 연결정도 중심성은 ‘무용교육(5.454)’, ‘문화예술교육(1.414)’, ‘한국무용교육(1.212)’, ‘무용전공자(0.858)’, ‘대학무용교육(1.262)’순으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 무용교육의 방향성과 교육형태 측면, 전공별, 대상별 맞춤형 교육 측면을 제공할 수 있도록 정책 마련의 기초자료로 제공할 수 있을 것이라 기대한다. This study analyzed the research trends of dance education-related papers in the dance field through keyword network analysis and analyzed the substructure of related topics using SPSS 27.0 and Textom, and the purpose of this study is to identify the main keywords of dance education by analyzing the longitudinal flow of dance education-related research for the last five years since 2019. The research results are as follows. First, a total of 559 papers were searched through keyword network analysis, and 425 studies that fit the purpose of this study were selected as targets for analysis and found that the study was conducted. Second, looking at the top 10 results of the frequency analysis of keywords related to dance education, it was shown in the order of 'dance education', 'culture and arts education', 'Korean dance education', 'dance majors', 'university dance education program', 'research trend', 'dance curriculum', 'elementary dance education', 'valle education', and 'corona'. Third, as a result of examining the centrality of the degree of connection between the main keywords, the top five centralities of connection degree were 'dance education (5.454), 'culture and arts education (1.414), 'Korean dance education (1.212), 'dance majors (0.858), and 'university dance education (1.262)'. It is expected that the results of this study can be provided as basic data for policy preparation to provide customized education for each dance education direction, education type, major, and target.

        GPGPU 환경에서의 ML 모델이 다양한 분야에 지속적으로 활용되면서, 이미지 분할(image segmentation) 연구가 활발하다. multi-GPU 환경에서 성능 최적화를 위하여 병렬화 기법들이 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 multi-GPU 환경에서 U-Net 모델의 전체 수행 시간을 단축하기 위해 convolution 연산을 최적화하는 기법을 적용하는 실험을 진행하였고 shared memory, data parallelism 를 적용하여 82% 성능 향상을 보여주었다.

        The incidence and survival of cervical, ovarian, and endometrial cancer in Korea, 1999-2017: Korea Central Cancer Registry

        Objective The three major gynecologic cancers are cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancer. This study aimed to describe the 19-year trends and survival rates in cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancer in a Korean female population. Methods We searched the Korea Central Cancer Registry to identify patients with gynecologic cancer between 1999 and 2017. Age-standardized rates and annual percent changes were calculated. The relative survival rate (RSR) was reported by histology, age, and stage for each gynecological cancer. Results The total number of cervical, endometrial, primary peritoneal, ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube (POFT) cancer was 134,863, with the number of cases increasing every year: 6,077 in 1999 to 8,011 in 2017. The incidence of cervical cancer has decreased; however, that of POFT and endometrial cancer has increased. The 5-year RSR of cervical, POFT, and endometrial cancer was reported to be 80.8%, 61.4%, and 88.1%, respectively. In the case of cervical cancer, squamous cell carcinoma showed better survival than other histology (82.8% vs. 73.5%). Furthermore, in the case of endometrial cancer, endometrioid histology had substantially better 5-year RSR than the others (93.2% vs. 76.5%). Contrastingly, in the case of ovarian cancer, serous carcinoma had worse 5-year RSR than other types of histology. Conclusion The incidence rates for gynecologic cancers increased from 2005 to 2017, with an annual increase of 2.76 per year until 2017. Endometrial cancer had the highest RSR, while ovarian cancer had the lowest. Active cancer screening and the introduction of effective treatments might have contributed to the improved RSRs of gynecologic cancers.
