Facile Preparation of Holey Anderson-type Polyoxometalate/Polyaniline/Graphene Nanocomposites for Supercapacitors

        Jingjing Lin,Song Yan,Xiaojie Zhang,Yueran Liu,Jun Lian,Hualin Lin,Wei Wei,Deli Lu,Sheng Han 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2019 NANO Vol.14 No.4

Holey Fe-Anderson-type polyoxometalate/polyaniline/graphene (PPG) hybrid materials were first prepared by anchoring Anderson-type polyoxometalates [FeMo6O24H6]3- (FeMo6) onto graphene modified with polyaniline via a facile hydrothermal treatment. The as-prepared materials exhibited an excellent electrochemical performance with a high specific capacitance of 1366 F g -1 at 1 A g -1 and outstanding cycling stability (97.6% capacitance retention after 5000 cycle times). The uptake of polyaniline/FeMo6 nanoparticles on graphene not only provided the pseudocapacitance but also weakened the aggregation between the graphene layers, resulting in a higher surface area compared with pure graphene. In addition, the AC//PPG-15 asymmetric supercapacitor device showed a high energy density of 24.65 W h kg -1 at a low power density of 326.25 W kg -1 and good cycling stability (94.82% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles). Hence, the as-prepared PPG hybrid materials in this work possess tremendous potential as electrodes for high-performance supercapacitors.

      • The scaffold protein RACK1 mediates the RANKL-dependent activation of p38 MAPK in osteoclast precursors

Lin, Jingjing,Lee, Daekee,Choi, Yongwon,Lee, Soo Young American Association for the Advancement of Scienc 2015 Science signaling Vol.8 No.379

<P>The E3 ubiquitin ligase TRAF6 [tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor (TNFR)-associated factor 6] and the associated kinase TAK1 [transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β)-activated kinase 1] are key components of the signaling pathways that activate nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) in response to various stimuli. The cytokine RANKL (receptor activator of NF-κB ligand) is essential for the differentiation of bone marrow cells into bone-resorbing osteoclasts through the activation of NF-κB and MAPK. We found that the scaffold protein RACK1 (receptor for activated C kinase 1) selectively mediated the RANKL-dependent activation of p38 MAPK through the TRAF6-TAK1 axis by interacting with the MAPK kinase MKK6 (MAPK kinase kinase 6), which is upstream of p38 MAPK. RACK1 was necessary for the differentiation of bone marrow cells into osteoclasts through the stimulation of p38 MAPK activation. Osteoclast precursors exposed to RANKL exhibited an interaction among RACK1, RANK, TRAF6, TAK1, and the kinase MKK6, thereby leading to the activation of the MKK6-p38 MAPK pathway. Experiments in which RACK1 or TAK1 was knocked down in osteoclast precursors indicated that RACK1 acted as a bridge, bringing MKK6 to the TRAF6-TAK1 complex. Furthermore, local administration of RACK1-specific small interfering RNA (siRNA) into mice calvariae reduced the RANKL-induced bone loss by reducing the numbers of osteoclasts. These findings suggest that RACK1 specifies the RANKL-stimulated activation of p38 MAPK by facilitating the association of MKK6 with TAK1 and may provide a molecular target for a new therapeutic strategy to treat bone diseases.</P>

Long-term Survivals, Toxicities and the Role of Chemotherapy in Early-Stage Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Patients Treated with Intensity-modulated Radiation Therapy: A Retrospective Study with 15-year Follow-up

        Lin Wang,Jingjing Miao,Huageng Huang,Boyu Chen,Xiao Xiao,Manyi Zhu,Yingshan Liang,Weiwei Xiao,Shaomin Huang,Yinglin Peng,Xiaowu Deng,Xing Lv,Weixiong Xia,Yanqun Xiang,Xiang Guo,Fei Han,Chong Zhao 대한암학회 2022 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.54 No.1

Purpose This study was aimed to investigate long-term survivals and toxicities of early-stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in endemic area, evaluating the role of chemotherapy in stage II patients. Materials and Methods Totally 187 patients with newly diagnosed NPC and restaged American Joint Committee on Cancer/ International Union Against Cancer 8th T1-2N0-1M0 were retrospectively recruited. All received intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT)±chemotherapy (CT) from 2001 to 2010. Results With 15.7-year median follow-up, 10-year locoregional recurrence-free survival, distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), disease-specific survival (DSS), and overall survival (OS) were 93.3%, 93.5%, 92.9% and 88.2%, respectively. Multivariable analyses showed cervical lymph nodes positive and pre-treatment prognostic nutritional index ≥ 52.0 could independently predict DMFS (p=0.036 and p=0.011), DSS (p=0.014 and p=0.026), and OS (p=0.002 and p < 0.001); Charlson comorbidity index < 3 points could predict DSS (p=0.011); age > 45 years (p=0.002) and pre-treatment lactate dehydrogenase ≥ 240 U/L (p < 0.001) predicted OS. No grade 4 late toxicity happened; grade 3 late toxicities included subcutaneous fibrosis (4.3%), deafness or otitis (4.8%), skin dystrophy (2.1%), and xerostomia (1.1%). No differences on survivals were shown between IMRT+CT vs. IMRT alone in stage II patients, even in T2N1M0 (p > 0.05). Unsurprising, patients in IMRT+CT had more acute gastrointestinal reaction, myelosuppression, mucositis, late ear toxicity, and cranial nerve injury (all p < 0.05) than IMRT alone group. Conclusion Superior tumor control and satisfying long-term outcomes could be achieved with IMRT in early-stage NPC with mild late toxicities. As CT would bring more toxicities, it should be carefully performed to stage II patients.

Nonlinear Kalman filter bias correction for wind ramp event forecasts at wind turbine height

Jingjing Xu,Zi-Niu Xiao,Zhao-Hui Lin 한국풍공학회 2020 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.30 No.4

One of the growing concerns of the wind energy production is wind ramp events. To improve the wind ramp event forecasts, the nonlinear Kalman filter bias correction method was applied to 24-h wind speed forecasts issued from the WRF model at 70-m height in Zhangbei wind farm, Hebei Province, China for a two-year period. The Kalman filter shows the remarkable ability of improving forecast skill for real-time wind speed forecasts by decreasing RMSE by 32% from 3.26 m s-1 to 2.21 m s-1, reducing BIAS almost to zero, and improving correlation from 0.58 to 0.82. The bias correction improves the forecast skill especially in wind speed intervals sensitive to wind power prediction. The fact shows that the Kalman filter is especially suitable for wind power prediction. Moreover, the bias correction method performs well under abrupt weather transition. As to the overall performance for improving the forecast skill of ramp events, the Kalman filter shows noticeable improvements based on POD and TSS. The bias correction increases the POD score of up-ramps from 0.27 to 0.39 and from 0.26 to 0.38 for down-ramps. After bias correction, the TSS score is significantly promoted from 0.12 to 0.26 for up-ramps and from 0.13 to 0.25 for down-ramps.

      • Financial Crisis and Informal International Law: A Preliminary Discussion

( Jingjing An ),( Lin Zhang ) 고려대학교 법학연구원 2016 The Asian Business Lawyer Vol.17 No.-

After the catastrophic 2008 financial crisis, a large portion of attention to the legal academia in the globe has been concentrated on the interrelationship between law, financial stability and economic development. Through reviewing the voluminous literature in this field, it is figured out that the scope of law has been largely confined to strengthening regulation of the pre-crisis unbundled derivative transactions and enhancing cooperation among sovereign states by making formal sources of international law. Little emphasis has been put on financial regulation regimes of sovereignty countries and in particular the strength of informal international law on reinforcing these domestic regulatory regimes. By comparing and contrasting the financial regulatory structures of Hong Kong, Mainland China, the UK and the US and the core principles of the BIS, the IOSCO and the IAIS, this article attempts to fill in the above research gap to some extent.

Experimental and Modeling Studies on the Sorption Breakthrough Behaviors of Butanol from Aqueous Solution in a Fixed-bed of KA-I Resin

        Xiaoqing Lin,Renjie Li,Qingshi Wen,Jinglan Wu,Jiansheng Fan,Xiaohong Jin,Wenbin Qian,Dong Liu,Xiaochun Chen,Yong Chen,Jingjing Xie,Jianxin Bai,Han-Jie Ying 한국생물공학회 2013 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.18 No.2

Removal of biobutanol from acetone-butanolethanol (ABE) fermentation broth can be achieved by fixed-bed sorption by means of KA-I resin, and the relevant breakthrough curves would provide much valuable information to help design a continuous fixed-bed sorption process in field application. In the present study, the effects of several important design parameters, i.e., initial butanol concentration (Cf: 3.0 ~ 30.0 g/L), inlet flow rate (Qf: 0.5~ 5.5 mL/min) and adsorbent bed height (Z: 4.2 ~ 18.0 cm),on the adsorption breakthrough curves of KA-I resin in a fixed-bed column were investigated. It was found that the amount of adsorbed butanol at breakthrough point was increased with an increase in the value of Cf and Z; and with decrease in the value of Qf. However, the maximum sorption capacities of butanol at saturated point were basically unchanged. Three well-established fixed-bed adsorption models, namely Thomas, Yoon-Nelson and Adams-Bohart,were applied to predict the breakthrough curves and to determine the characteristic parameters of fixed-bed column, which are the basis for the process design at a real scale. Good agreement between the theoretical breakthrough curves and the experimental result were observed using Thomas and Yoon-Nelson models.

PKCbeta Positively Regulates RANKL-Induced Osteoclastogenesis by Inactivating GSK-3β

        신지혜,장현덕,Jingjing Lin,이수영 한국분자세포생물학회 2014 Molecules and cells Vol.37 No.10

Protein kinase C (PKC) family members phosphorylate a wide variety of protein targets and are known to be involved in diverse cellular signaling pathways. However, the role of PKC in receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL) signaling has remained elusive. We now demonstrate that PKCβ acts as a positive regulator which inactivates glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) and promotes NFATc1 induction during RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis. Among PKCs, PKCβ expression is increased by RANKL. Pharmacological inhibition of PKCβ decreased the formation of osteoclasts which was caused by the inhibition of NFATc1 induction. Importantly, the phosphorylation of GSK-3β was decreased by PKCβ inhibition. Likewise, down-regulation of PKCβ by RNA interference suppressed osteoclast differentiation, NFATc1 induction, and GSK-3β phosphorylation. The administration of PKC inhibitor to the RANKL-injected mouse calvaria efficiently protected RANKL-induced bone destruction. Thus, the PKCβ pathway, leading to GSK-3β inactivation and NFATc1 induction, has a key role in the differentiation of osteoclasts. Our results also provide a further rationale for PKCβ’s therapeutic targeting to treat inflammation-related bone diseases.

RACK1 interaction with c-Src is essential for osteoclast function

        박진희,Eutteum Jeong,Jingjing Lin,고려진,Ji Hee Kim,Sol Yi,Youngjin Choi,In-Cheol Kang,Daekee Lee,SooYoungLee 생화학분자생물학회 2019 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.51 No.-

The scaffolding protein receptor for activated C-kinase 1 (RACK1) mediates receptor activator of nuclear factor κΒ ligand (RANKL)-dependent activation of p38 MAPK in osteoclast precursors; however, the role of RACK1 in mature osteoclasts is unclear. The aim of our study was to identify the interaction between RACK1 and c-Src that is critical for osteoclast function. A RACK1 mutant protein (mutations of tyrosine 228 and 246 residues to phenylalanine; RACK1 Y228F/Y246F) did not interact with c-Src. The mutant retained its ability to differentiate into osteoclasts; however, the integrity of the RANKL-mediated cytoskeleton, bone resorption activity, and phosphorylation of c-Src was significantly decreased. Importantly, lysine 152 (K152) within the Src homology 2 (SH2) domain of c-Src is involved in RACK1 binding. The c-Src K152R mutant (mutation of lysine 152 into arginine) impaired the resorption of bone by osteoclasts. These findings not only clarify the role of the RACK1-c-Src axis as a key regulator of osteoclast function but will also help to develop new antiresorption therapies to prevent bone loss-related diseases.
