        3.1운동과 기념일의 역사화

        March First Movement commenced with the funeral of King Gojong, but the people marched chanting Manse (Hurrah)!―an exclamation focused more on national independence than in mourning the fallen King. The ritual act itself has roots that trace to practices associated with the emperor's birthday and became emblematic of protests during the colonial period. It eventually came to commemorate the March First and became an integral part of the independence movement. The Korean Provisional Government competed in terms of time order to beat out Japan in establishing several of its national celebratory and anniversary dates. This included the March First Movement. For nearly two months throughout this process, many protests arose across the country— protests that culminated through representation of one day: March First. The multifarious connotations and insinuations embedded in manse have dissipated over the years with few remembering the violence―both inflicted and endured―encompassed within either the term or the actions associated with it. The March First Movement is a decisive event in the formation of the Korean nation, and March First has been christened as a national holiday to commemorate such a momentous historical event. Conversely, it is the celebrations later generations that ultimately define the memories of such historical events. 3.1운동은 고종의 승하와 因山을 계기로 일어났지만, 민중은 고종을 애도하기보다는 독립 만세를 부르며 행진했다. 주목할 것은, 행진과 만세 부르기라는 시위방식이 본래 군주의 탄신일 축하행사를 통해 보급된 의례적 행동이라는 점이다. 이후행렬과 만세 연호는 식민지기 대중시위 방식의 원형이 되고, 매년 3.1운동을 기념하려는 시도 자체도 독립운동의 일부가 된다. 임시정부는 3.1절, 국치일, 개천절, 순국선열기념일 등을 기념하면서, 일본제국의 시간질서에 대항했다. 그런 과정을통해, 두 달 넘게 지방별로 일어난 많은 시위가 ‘3.1’이라는 하나의 날짜로 묶였다. ‘만세’의 다의성이나 폭력시위의 존재는 잊혀졌다. 1919년 3.1운동은 한국 국민국가 형성의 결정적 계기 중 하나이고, 3.1절은 그런 역사적 사건을 기념하는 최초의국민적 기념일이다. 그러나 거꾸로 후대의 기념일이 역사적 사건에 대한 기억을규정하고 있기도 하다.

        Comparison of 99mTc Pertechnetate Thyroid Uptake Rates by Gamma Probe and Gamma Camera Methods for Differentiating Graves’ Disease and Thyroiditis

        Background Technetium-99 m (99mTc) pertechnetate thyroid uptake rate can be measured with a gamma probe or gamma camera. This study was performed to compare their diagnostic accuracy for evaluating patients with thyrotoxicosis. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 99mTc pertechnetate thyroid uptake rate records of patients by both gamma probe and camera methods at a tertiary center in Korea from November 2019 to June 2020. We determined the normal reference ranges of thyroid uptake rate by two methods and compared both methods for differentiating Graves’ disease and thyroiditis in patients with thyrotoxicosis by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Results A total of 371 patients (euthyroid 89, Graves 167, and thyroiditis 115) were included. The normal reference range for thyroid uptake rate in euthyroid patients was 0.3–1.9% and 2.0–4.7% for the camera and probe methods, respectively. For differentiating Graves’ disease and thyroiditis, the area under the curve of the camera method (0.988) was significantly greater than that (0.975) of the probe method (p = 0.030). The sensitivity and specificity for the probe method were 92.2% and 91.3%, respectively, with a cut-off value of 3.0%. Those for the camera method were 93.4% and 94.8%, respectively, with a cut-off value of 0.7%. Conclusion 99mTc pertechnetate thyroid uptake rate measured by the camera method had higher diagnostic accuracy than the probe method for evaluating patients with thyrotoxicosis. Considering the diagnostic accuracy and patient convenience, the thyroid uptake rate measured by the camera method would be a good substitute for the probe method.

      • Thermal Properties Calculation and Compare of LNG Using Nist Supertrapp and Hysys

        Liquefied natural gas or LNG is natural gas that has been converted to liquid form for ease of storage or transport. Liquefied natural gas takes up about 1/600th the volume of natural gas at a stove burner tip. In this paper, we will list the properties of LNG at the scope of pressure and temperature from 80 bar to 130 bar, 108.15 K to 328.15 K using software Nist Supertrapp. Main properties are density, heat capacity, entropy, conductivity, enthalpy, viscosity, which are highly depended on pressure and temperature. In this paper we use two softwares to calculate the above properties, Nist Supertrapp and Hysys. To compare the difference between varies product regions, we choose Alaska, Alaska Brunei abdai Indonesia Malaysia Oman Karta, except Alaska other regions LNG have slightly different percentage of component. After presenting calculation result of Alaska LNG from software Nist Supertrapp, some difference between two softwares result will also be listed in figures.

      • Toxic effects of lactational exposure to 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) on development of male reproductive system: Involvement of antioxidants, oxidants, and p53 protein

        <P>2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is a potent endocrine disruptor compound and induces multiple organ dysfunctions. The effect of TCDD exposure both in adults and in utero has been well established. However, little is known about the effects of TCDD acquired through mother's milk on the development of the male reproductive system. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects and mechanisms of TCDD from lactational exposure. TCDD (1 μg/kg) was administered to C57BL/6 mouse mothers for 4 days from the day of delivery. On postnatal day 30 (PND 30) and postnatal day 60 (PND 60), body weight, body length, and anogenital distance (AGD) of male offspring were measured. The weights of the testes and epididymides were also measured. Epididymides were used for sperm counts, and testes were used to measure the activity of antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT, GPX, GR), the parameters of oxidative stress (hydrogen peroxide, MDA), and testosterone. In addition, expression of p53 and the proapoptotic protein, Bax, were analyzed by Western blot. TCDD exposure decreased body weight, body length, and AGD in both PND 30 and PND 60 groups compared with the control group. The activity of all antioxidant enzymes at PND 60 was decreased after TCDD treatment. TCDD treatment decreased testicular testosterone levels in both the PND 30 and PND 60 groups. The expression of p53 and Bax were also upregulated by TCDD and did not return to normal levels by PND 60. These data suggest that TCDD affects development of male offspring when the mother is exposed to TCDD during lactation. In addition, oxidative stress is a major mediator of TCDD-induced adverse effects, and p53 may play an important role in this mechanism. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Environ Toxicol, 2010.</P>

        <P>Pristine graphene oxide thin film field effect transistors were fabricated on Si substrates without an additional reduction process. Graphene oxide with an optical band gap of 1.7 eV showed p-type semiconducting behaviour in air and ambipolarity under vacuum. The temperature dependence of conductance confirmed these semiconducting characteristics. <I>I</I>–<I>V</I> characteristics were well fitted to a variable range hopping model with 2 + 3 dimensionality, in good contrast to the 2D fitting in the reduced graphene oxide.</P>

        5-Methoxy-8-(2-hydroxy-3-buthoxy-3-methylbutyloxy)-psoralen Isolated from Angelica dahurica Inhibits Cyclooxygenase-2 and 5-Lipoxygenase in Mouse Bone Marrow-Derived Mast Cells

        5-Methoxy-8-(2-hydroxy-3-buthoxy-3-methylbutyloxy)-psoralen (MP) is a medicinal herbal product isolated from Angelica dahurica that inhibits the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)-dependent phase of prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) generation in bone marrow-derived mast cells (IC50, 23.5 μM). Western blotting with specific anti-COX-2 antibodies showed that the decrease in PGD2 production was accompanied by a decrease in COX-2 protein levels. In addition, this compound consistently inhibited the production of leukotriene C4 in a dose dependent manner, (IC50, 2.5 μM). These results demonstrate that MP inhibits both cyclooxygenase-2 and 5- lipoxygenase activity. Furthermore, this compound also inhibited the degranulation reaction (IC50, 4.1 μM). Therefore, this compound might provide a basis for novel anti-inflammatory drug development.

        Antiasthmatic Activity of Luteolin-7-<i>O</i>-glucoside from <i>Ailanthus altissima</i> through the Downregulation of T Helper 2 Cytokine Expression and Inhibition of Prostaglandin E<sub>2</sub> Production in an Ovalbumin-Induced Asthma Model

        <P>Previously, we reported that an ethanol extract of <I>Ailanthus altissima</I> has antiinflammatory activity in an ovalbumin (OVA)-sensitized murine asthmatic model. To determine the biological compounds from this plant, luteolin-7-<I>O</I>-glucoside (L7G) was isolated and its antiasthmatic activity was evaluated in an <I>in vivo</I> murine asthmatic model. L7G (10 to 100 mg/kg, <I>per os</I> (<I>p.o.</I>)) reduced the amount of eosinophil infiltration in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid in a dose-dependent manner. In comparison, dexamethasone (5 mg/kg, <I>p.o.</I>), which was used as a positive control, also strongly inhibited the number of infiltrating eosinophils. L7G inhibited both the prostaglandin E<SUB>2</SUB> (PGE<SUB>2</SUB>) and serum immunoglobulin E level in BAL fluid in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, L7G inhibited the transcript profiles of interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5, and IL-13 mRNA expression levels in the murine asthma model, as determined using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). These results suggest that the antiasthmatic activity of L7G in OVA-induced lung inflammation may occur in part <I>via</I> the downregulation of T helper 2 cytokine transcripts as well as the inhibition of PGE<SUB>2</SUB> production.</P>

      • The Naturally Occurring Flavolignan, Deoxypodophyllotoxin, Inhibits Lipopolysaccharide-Induced iNOS Expression through the NF-κB Activation in RAW264.7 Macrophage Cells

        <P>Deoxypodophyllotoxin (DPT), a naturally occurring flavolignan with anti-inflammatory activity, was isolated from <I>Anthriscus sylvestris</I> <SMALL>HOFFM</SMALL>., and we examined its effects on the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated, murine macrophage-like RAW264.7 cells. Western blot analysis performed with specific anti-iNOS antibodies showed that a decrease in nitric oxide (NO) was accompanied by a decrease in the iNOS protein level. To clarify the mechanistic basis for DPT's ability to inhibit iNOS induction, we examined the effect of DPT on nuclear factor (NF)-κB transcriptional activity and DNA binding activity. DPT potently suppressed both reporter gene activity and DNA binding activity. These findings suggest that DPT in RAW264.7 cells abolished LPS-induced iNOS expression by inhibiting the transcription factor, NF-κB.</P>

      • Resistance Mechanism against Trastuzumab in HER2-Positive Cancer Cells and Its Negation by Src Inhibition

        <P>Trastuzumab in combination with chemotherapy is the standard of care for patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast and gastric cancers. Several resistance mechanisms against anti-HER2 therapy have been proposed. Src activation has been suggested to be responsible for the resistance of HER2-positive breast cancer. In our study, we generated four trastuzumab-resistant (HR) cancer cell lines from HER2-amplified gastric and biliary tract cancer cell lines (SNU-216, NCI-N87, SNU-2670, and SNU-2773). Elevated Src phosphorylation was detected in SNU2670HR and NCI-N87HR cell lines, but not in SNU216HR or SNU2773HR cell lines. In SNU216HR and SNU2773HR cell lines, phospho-FAK (focal adhesion kinase) was elevated. Bosutinib as a Src inhibitor suppressed growth, cell-cycle progression, and migration in both parental and HR cell lines. Specifically, Src interacted with FAK to affect downstream molecules such as AKT, ERK, and STAT3. Bosutinib showed more potent antitumor effects in Src-activated HR cell lines than parental cell lines. Taken together, this study suggests that Src inhibition may be an effective measure to overcome trastuzumab resistance in HER2-positive cancer. (C) 2017 AACR.</P>

      • A study on the fluid flow characteristic of metal porous media

        Since porous medium will increase the performance of heat exchanger, porous medium is of growing interest in a wide range of engineering. But as the penalty of increasing heat transfer coefficient, increasing of pressure drop should be taken into consideration. This paper represent an experiment, which is to used measure α and β of two copper porous medium (20ppi and 40ppi) with different porosity. α and β are important factor of pressure drop. Finally we got the relationship equation between unit pressure drop and velocity.
