Collision-Free Arbitration Protocol for Active RFID Systems

Wang, Honggang,Pei, Changxing,Su, Bo The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2012 Journal of communications and networks Vol.14 No.1

Collisions between tags greatly reduce the identification speed in radio frequency identification (RFID) systems and increase communication overhead. In particular for an active RFID system, tags are powered by small batteries, and a large number of re-transmissions caused by collisions can deteriorate and exhaust the tag energy which may result in missing tags. An efficient collision-free arbitration protocol for active RFID systems is proposed in this paper. In this protocol, a new mechanism involving collision detection, collision avoidance, and fast tag access is introduced. Specifically, the pulse burst duration and busy-tone-detection delay are introduced between the preamble and data portion of a tag-to-reader (T-R) frame. The reader identifies tag collision by detecting pulses and transmits a busy tone to avoid unnecessary transmission when collision occurs. A polling process is then designed to quickly access the collided tags. It is shown that the use of the proposed protocol results in a system throughput of 0.612, which is an obvious improvement when compared to the framed-slotted ALOHA (FSA) arbitration protocol for ISO/IEC 18000-7 standard. Furthermore, the proposed protocol greatly reduces communication overhead, which leads to energy conservation.

Phylogenetic and Morphological Identification of the Novel Pathogen of Rheum palmatum Leaf Spot in Gansu, China

        ( Yan Wang ),( Amy O. Charkowski ),( Cuiyun Zeng ),( Tiantian Zhu ),( Huizhen Wang ),( Honggang Chen ) 한국균학회 2016 Mycobiology Vol.44 No.2

A new leaf spot disease was observed on leaves of Rheum palmatum (Chinese rhubarb) in Northwest China (Gansu Province) starting in 2005. A Septoria-like fungus was isolated and completion of Koch’s postulates confirmed that the fungus was the casual agent of the leaf spot disease. Morphology and molecular methods were combined to identify the pathogen. The fungus produced conidiomata pycnidia and the conidia were 2~5 septate, 61.2~134.1 μm in length and 3.53~5.3 μm in width, which is much larger than the known Spetoria species that infects Polygonaceae species. Phylogenic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer region confirmed that this Septoria-like fungus is within the Septoria genus but distinct from known Septoria species. Together, these morphological and phylogenetic data support that the R. palmatum infecting Septoria strain is a newlydescribed plant pathogenic species.

        Cheng, Heming,Wang, Honggang,Huang, Xieqing 대한금속재료학회(대한금속학회) 1998 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.4 No.4

The thermal physical properties were treated as a functions of temperature. On the basis of non-linear surface heat-transfer coefficient by Ref. [2], the temperature field with non-linear surface heat-transfer coefficients was calculated using finite clement technique. The experimental results of temperature field coincide with numeral solutions. Finally, the thermal stress was calculated by means of finite element method.

Functional and Its Variational Principle in Thermal Inelasticity

        Cheng, Heming,Wang, Honggang,Huang, Xieqing 대한금속재료학회(대한금속학회) 1998 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.4 No.4

The heat conduction equation in a coupled thermo-inelastic body, was derived by means of the irreversible thermodynamics and the measured data of the inner dissipation for metal. The coupled coefficients, which are dependent on temperature and inelastic strain rate, can be determined by the measured data of inner dissipation for metal. The functional of a coupled thermal inelastic problem was derived by means of nonlinear functional analysis theory. Finally, it is proved that the critical points of the functional are the solutions of coupled thermal inelastic equations.

Hybrid TOA/AOA Cooperative Mobile Localization in 4G Cellular Networks

Wu, Shixun,Wang, Shuliang,Xu, Kai,Wang, Honggang The Institute of Electronics and Information Engin 2013 IEIE Transactions on Smart Processing & Computing Vol.2 No.2

this study examined hybrid Time of Arrival/Angle of Arrival (TOA/AOA) localization technique in a cellular network. Based on the linearized equations from the TOA and AOA measurements, the weighted least square (WLS) method is proposed to obtain the location estimation of a mobile station (MS) by analyzing the statistical properties of the error vector in Line of Sight (LOS) and Non-line of Sight (NLOS) environments, respectively. Moreover, the precise expression of the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) for hybrid TOA/AOA measurements in different LOS/NLOS conditions was derived when the LOS error is a Gaussian variable and the NLOS error is an exponential variable. The idea of cooperative localization is proposed based on the additional information from short-range communication among the MSs in fourth generation (4G) cellular networks. Therefore, the proposed hybrid TOA/AOA WLS method can be improved further with the cooperative scheme. The simulation results show that the hybrid TOA/AOA method has better performance than the TOA only method, particularly when the AOA measurements are accurate. Moreover, the performance of the hybrid TOA/AOA method can be improved further by the cooperative scheme.

Variable amplitude fatigue test of M30 high-strength bolt in bolt-sphere joint grid structures

        Bin Qiu,Honggang Lei,Xu Yang,Zichun Zhou,Guoqing Wang 국제구조공학회 2019 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.33 No.3

Fatigue failure of a grid structure using bolt-sphere joints is liable to occur in a high-strength bolt due to the alternating and reciprocal actions of a suspension crane. In this study, variable amplitude fatigue tests were carried out on 20 40 Cr steel alloy M30 high-strength bolts using an MTS fatigue testing machine, and four cyclic stress amplitude loading patterns, Low-High, High- Low, Low-High-Low, and High-Low-High, were tested. The scanning electron microscope images of bolt fatigue failure due to variable amplitude stress were obtained, and the fractographic analysis of fatigue fractures was performed to investigate the fatigue failure mechanisms. Based on the available data from the constant amplitude fatigue tests, the variable amplitude fatigue life of an M30 high-strength bolt in a bolt-sphere joint was estimated using both Miner's rule and the Corten-Dolan model. Since both cumulative damage models gave similar predictions, Miner's rule is suggested for estimating the variable-amplitude fatigue life of M30 high-strength bolts in a grid structure with bolt-sphere joints; the S-N fatigue curve of the M30 high-strength bolts under variable amplitude loading was derived using equivalent stress amplitude as a design parameter.

Ultrathin Biocompatible Electrospun Fiber Films for Self-Powered Human Motion Sensor

        Gengrui Zhao,Shaobo Gong,Honggang Wang,Junfang Ren,Na Wang,Yawen Yang,Gui Gao,Shengsheng Chen,Linlin Li 한국정밀공학회 2021 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.8 No.3

In recent years, triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) has been proven to be an effective and simple solution for self-powered wearable sensing, and a wide variety of materials and methods have been applied to TENG based sensors. In this study, an ultrathin fiber film with nanoporous brain-like structure (BUF) was obtained by cold-pressing the electrospun biocompatible fiber mats, and a wearable TENG sensor based on the BUF films that could sensitively detect human motion was demonstrated. This simply designed self-powered sensor was composed of Kapton as the shell and ultrathin, biocompatible poly L-lactic acid and ethyl cellulose (EC) fiber films as the triboelectric layers, prepared by convenient electrospinning method and cold-pressing. Compared to as-spun fiber mats, cold-pressed fiber membranes not only acquire overall compact structure but also remained porous surface morphology, which improved the triboelectric outputs and operational stability of TENG. Three TENGs were fabricated to evaluate the effects of different triboelectric layers on triboelectric outputs, and the BUF-TENG had the maximum triboelectric outputs (19 V, 630 nA at 3.5 Hz) and longer life than as-spun fiber mats based TENG. The BUF-TENG had linear relationship between triboelectric outputs and frequency, and sensitivities of 32.4, 0.94 and 0.22 V Hz−1 in the range of 0.1–0.35, 0.35–2 and 2–3.5 Hz, respectively. Moreover, a self-powered sensor based on the BUF-TENG was proposed to sensitively detect human walking state and limbs motion. With convenient preparation process and biocompatible materials, the BUF-TENG sensor could be a potential self-powered wearable and portable sensor in future health care and monitoring field.
