Present study investigate the effect of enzyme supplementation, methods (applied to rumen or enzyme treated diet) compared with no enzyme diet, on rumen fermentation and apparent nutrient digestibility in a $3{\times}3$ Latin square design with three rumen cannulated Korean Native goats. In situ rumen degradation kinetics was studied in three rumen cannulated Holstein steers. Three diets were, no enzyme, 1% enzyme in rumen and 1% enzyme in diet. The enzyme was sprayed onto forage, and the forage: concentrate ratio was 30:70. Degradation kinetics was studied with three enzyme levels (0, 1 and 2%, w/w) and four pre-treatment times (0, 1, 12 and 24 h). Results suggested that enzyme application method did not affect rumen fermentation, ruminal enzyme activity and total tract apparent digestibility. Nutrient degradation rate and effective degradability of DM, NDF and ADF increased with increasing enzyme level and pre-treatment times. Degradation of nutrients was affected by enzymes levels or pre-treatment times. Therefore, it is probable that the improved degradation may be due to the supplemented exogenous hydrolytic enzymes under a certain condition.

Background: Cyclosporine effectively suppresses immune responses and inhibits skin homing T cell responses in psoriasis. E-selectin is known to be up-regulated on vascular endothelium of inflammatory skin lesions such as psoriasis. Purpose: Based on our previous study that cyclosporine decreased lesional cutaneous lymphocyte antigen (CLA)+ T cells in psoriatic patients, we tried to find any change of CLA+ T cells in peripheral blood in psoriatic patients, since psoriasis is a disease of systemic T cell activation. Subjects and Methods: Peripheral blood of 8 patients with chronic plaque type psoriasis at 0, 3, 6, 12, 18 weeks after cyclosporine was examined by flow cytometry using anti-CLA antibody. Five skin biopsy samples at 0, 3, 6, 12, 18 weeks were immunohistochemically stained with anti E-selectin antibody. Results: Our results demonstrate that the number of CD3+ CLA+ and CD4+CLA+ T cells was significantly reduced in the peripheral blood at week 3, but gradually increased to the level of baseline at 18 weeks. In psoriatic skin lesions, with decrease of PASI score and CLA+ T cells number, the expression of E-selectin on the endothelial cells was gradually decreased throughout 18 weeks of therapy. Conclusion: These results suggest that cyclosporine suppresses the migration of skin homing T cells to psoriatic skin lesions, in part, through the inhibition of E-selectin on the endothelial cells. The effects of reducing pork fat levels from 20% to 15% or 10% by partially substituting pork back fat with wheat sprout fiber in reduced-fat chicken patties were investigated. Approximate composition, energy value, pH, color, cooking loss, reduction in diameter, reduction in thickness, shear force, and sensory properties were determined. Moisture content, ash contents, yellowness of uncooked and cooked reduced-fat chicken patties with wheat sprout were higher than those in the control, while displaying fat content, calorie content, and pH of uncooked and cooked lower in reduced-fat chicken patties than in the control. Cooking loss, reduction in diameter, and reduction in thickness were the highest in the reduced-fat chicken patties with 10% fat level. Cooking loss, reduction in diameter, and reduction in thickness were decreased when fat levels and wheat sprout levels were increased. Control samples without wheat sprout dietary fiber had significantly (p<0.05) higher color and flavor scores compared to reduced-fat chicken patties containing wheat sprout dietary fiber. The overall acceptability of the control and treatment with 15% fat and 2% wheat sprout dietary fiber (T3) was the highest. Therefore, 15% fat level in reduced-fat chicken patties with the addition of 2% wheat sprout dietary fiber can be used to improve the quality and sensory characteristics of regular-fat chicken patties containing 20% fat level.

The Ln(III) complexes with picrate ligand, $[Sm(Pic)_2(H_2O)_6]Pic{\cdot}6H_2O$, 1, and $[Ho(Pic)(H_2O)_7](Pic)_2{\cdot}3H_2O$, 2, have been synthesized and their crystal structures are analyzed by X-ray diffraction methods. Complex 1, crystallizes in the monoclinic $P2_1/n$ space group and complex 2 in the triclinic P-1 space group. In complex 1, two picrate ligands coordinate to the Sm(III) ion, one of them in the bidentate fashion. There are one picrate anion and six water molecules in the crystal lattice. The nine-coordinated Sm(III) ion forms a slightly distorted tricapped trigonal prism. In complex 2, only one picrate ligand coordinates to the metal ion as a monodentate. There are two picrate anions and three water molecules in the crystal lattice. The eight-coordinated Ho(III) ion forms a distorted bicapped trigonal prism. Based on the results of the TG-DTG and DSC thermal analysis, it was analyzed that the lanthanide picrate complexes 1 and 2 are thermally decomposed in three distinctive stages, the dehydration, the picrate decomposition, and the formation of the metal oxide.
