      • Humic acid가 카드뮴 어독성에 미치는 영향

        Cadmium, a major aquatic pollutant in many parts of the world, is toxic and readily accumulated in aquatic organisms. It mainly exists in water as complexes with organic ligands such as dissolved organic carbon and this complexation is known to have effects on the aquatic toxicities. In this study, acute toxicity, histology, and bioaccumulation were studied to evaluate effects of humic acid on cadmium toxicity and bioavailability to fish using Oryzias latipes and Cyprinus carpio. 96h-LC50 of cadmium was 6.38 ㎎/L using Oryzias latipes. However, the mortality showed the dose-dependent decrease when humic acid was added to the test solution. When fish were exposed to 5㎎/L of cadmium, histological changes in the exposed organs(caudal fins, gills, kidney, liver, and gut) of Cyprinus carpio were decreased by humic acid, especially in kidney and liver. Bioaccumulation of cadmium also decreased by treatment of humic acid. It seems that the formation of complexes between cadmium and humic acid may decrease bioavailability of cadmium to fish, and thus reduce the toxic effects of cadmium.

      • Phenethylamine 誘導體와 7-chloro-4-nitrobenzo-2-oxa-1,3-diazole의 反應硏究 및 이의 螢光分析學的 應用

        Fluorescent derivatives of phenethylamines such as ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, methamphetamine, phenylpropanolamine and phenylephrine were synthesized by using 7-chloro-4-nitrobenzo-2-oxa-1, 3-diazole (NBD-C1) as a fluorescent agent. The NBD derivatives were separated by employing thin layer chromatographic method, and their structure were identified from elemental analysis as well as infrared spectroscopy and NMR spectroscopy. The examination for the effects of organic solvents on the fluorescence properties of NBD derivatives revealed that the organic solvents influence the emission maximum wavelength. The sensitive spectrophotofluorometric method was used for the quantitation of NBD derivatives, whose quantitative sensitivity range was 2. 2X10 exp (-1) 5X10 exp (-2)㎍/㎖. High performance liquid chromatographic method with fluorescence detection was used for the simultaneous determination of NBD derivatives. The quantitative sensitivity was 7. 5X10 exp(-2)㎍ for phenylpropanolamine and 3X10-' ug for methamphetamine, respectively.

        To evaluate the arsenic effect of fish endocrine disruption, crucian carp (Carassius auratus) were treated with 0.5 mg/L and 3.0mg/L of As₂O₃ for 14 days and gonadal development was examined by histological analysis. In ovaries from female crucian carps exposed to 3.0mg/L, immature follicles and atretic follicles were appeared while various normal developmental stages of oocytes were shown in control group. Body weight and Gonadosomatic Index (GSI) of treated carp were also decreased compared to control group. However, no other significant histological changes in liver or kidney were shown in this exposure scheme, This means that reproductive organs are more sensitive than other organs and arsenic may exert endocrine disrupting effect through inhibiting the development of reproductive organ in fish.

      • 자동영상추적장치를 이용한 카드뮴 처리 Oryzias latipes의 행위독성연구

        Changes in certain fish behaviors are known to be very sensitive indicators of sublethal exposure to environmental contaminants. Therefore, behavioral toxicity tests, if properly designed, can be very useful to assess the influence of hazardous chemicals on fish. However, quantitative analysis of xenobiotic -mediated changes in locomotor behavior in fishes are rare, due mainly to the methodological difficulties. In general, fish movement has been known to be hypertrophic or hypotrophic according to the chemicals. As a study of fish behavioral toxicities, we quatified the swimming movement of Orydas latipes using computer-automated video tracking system. Oryzias latipes was exposed to cadmium of 128 mg/L for 1 hour in a limited aquaria, then the total swimming distance, the average swimming velocity, the histogram of turning angles, and the turning frequency were analyzed. Fish treated with cadmium showed decreased swimming activities, decreased velocity, and decreased turning frequency, which means hypotrophic activity. From these results, the computer-automated video tracking system of this study seems to be a good tool for the evaluation of the potential ecotoxicological studies.

      • 韓國産 大麻中 Tetrahydrocannabinol의 時期別 含量 變化에 關한 硏究

        Marihuana containing tetrahydrocannabinol, a psychotomimetially active component, is being abused to lead serious social problems over the world these days. To obtain some scientific data to cope with various kinds of illegal traffic or abuse, I cultivated cannabis plants at N.I.H. in Seoul and also Pusan University in 1972 for about 27 weeks to each. And I studied on seasonal variation of tetrahydrocannabinol cantent of Korean cannabis. Tetrahydrocannabinol was separated and determined by this layer chromatography No. 6,7,8,9,10 and colorimetry respectively. The followings are summarization of accomplishments. 1. This data shows that Tetrahydrocannabinol content in the leaves of cannabis plants materials is richest just before blossomming approximately from 7th till 22nd of July. 2. The comparison between green leaves and maple leaves of cannabis shows that both contain roughly similar acount of tetrahydrocannabinol. 3. The comparison between male and female cannabis shows that both sexes contain similar amount of Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the same as that reported by A. Ohlsson and the Report Vol. No. 8. by N.I.H. Korea. 4. Tetrahydrocannabinol is most abundant folwering tops in comparison with other parts of cannabis, and stem, seed, root hardly contain Tetrahydrocannabinol. 5. My data shows that there is usually a little difference in Tetrahydrocannabinol content according to different regional groups. 6. Tetrahydrocannabinol content in leaves is the mest important, considering that other parts of cannabis contain Tetrahydrocannabinol. Therefore I can say merely from the keeping control over various kind of illegal traffic of abuse point of view, it is more effective for us to control the leaves of cannabis.

      • 發光박테리아 Vibrio fischeri를 利用한 有害物質의 生物學的 毒性評價

        This study was performed to determine the aquatic toxicity (EC_(50), 30min) on luminescent bacteria Vibrio fischeri of heavy metals, pesticide, and another toxic materials. 1. EC_(50) of heavy metals on Vibrio fischeri was mercury 0.62mg/l, cadmium 5.94mg/l, lead 1.53mg/l, chromium 4.28mg/l, and Cu 11.09mg/l. 2. EC_(50) of organophosphate pesticide Diazinon was 4.50, and parathion 2.67mg/l. 3. EC_(50) of Arsenic, was 4.78 cyanide phenol, 5.03, 14.77mg/l. 4. The toxic materials with low EC_(50) on V. fischeri and high inhibition increase rate according to the increase of material concentration were Hg, 2.4-D. The ones with low EC_(50) and low inhibition increase rate were Pb, Parathion, Endosulfan. The ones with high EC_(50) and high inhibition increase rate were Cr^(6+), Diazinon, As, CN, Cd. The one Phenol showed high EC_(50) and low inhibition increase rate.
