<P>Ras-related, estrogen-regulated, and growth-inhibitory gene (RERG) is a novel gene that was first reported in breast cancer. However, the functions of RERG are largely unknown in other tumor types. In this study, RERG expression was analyzed in hepatocellular carcinomas of human patients using reverse transcriptase PCR analysis. In addition, the possible regulation of RERG expression by histone deacetyltransferases (HDACs) was studied in several cell lines. Interestingly, the expression of RERG gene was increased in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) of male patients (57.9%) but decreased in HCC of females (87.5%) comparison with paired peri-tumoral tissues. Moreover, RERG gene expression was increased in murine hepatoma Hepa1-6 cells, human breast tumor MDA-MB-231 cells, and mouse normal fibroblast NIH3T3 cells after treated by HDAC inhibitor, trichostatin A. Our results suggest that RERG may function in a gender-dependent manner in hepatic tumorigenesis and that the expression of this gene may be regulated by an HDAC-related signaling pathway.</P>

In this study, a series of crosslinked poly(lactic acid) (PLA) with different gel fractions were obtained by addingsmall amounts of bis(tert-butyl dioxy isopropyl) benzene (BIBP) and triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC). The rheological properties, crystallization behavior and thermal stability of all samples were investigated. The results showed that some crosslinkedstructures were formed according to the gel fraction and the molecular weight. The crosslinked structures were alsoresponsible for the increased modulus and complex viscosity, which extended its processing methods, such as foaming andfilm blowing. And different relaxation processes were observed for different samples by Han and Cole-Cole plots. Moreover, the results showed that the crosslinked structures played the role of nucleation site for the blends, which enhance thecrystallization temperature (Tc). The glass transition temperature (Tg) and melt temperature (Tm) gradually decreased withincreasing gel fraction. Crosslinking also had the positive effect on the thermal stability of PLA.

Autonomous radiation source detection has long been studied for radiation emergencies. Compared to conventional data-driven or path planning methods, deep reinforcement learning shows a strong capacity in source detection while still lacking the generalized ability to the geometry in unknown environments. In this work, the detection task is decomposed into two subtasks: exploration and localization. A hierarchical control policy (HC) is proposed to perform the subtasks at different stages. The low-level controller learns how to execute the individual subtasks by deep reinforcement learning, and the highlevel controller determines which subtasks should be executed at the current stage. In experimental tests under different geometrical conditions, HC achieves the best performance among the autonomous decision policies. The robustness and generalized ability of the hierarchy have been demonstrated

Wang, Ai-Guo,Lee, Dong-Seok,Moon, Hyung-Bae,Kim, Jin-Man,Cho, Kyung-Hyun,Choi, Soo-Ho,Ha, Hye-Lin,Han, Ying-Hao,Kim, Dae-Ghon,Hwang, Soon B.,Yu, Dae-Yeul John Wiley Sons, Ltd. 2009 The Journal of pathology Vol.219 No.2
<P>Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major cause of chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the mechanism of HCV pathogenesis is not well understood. Our previous in vitro studies suggested that non-structural 5A (NS5A) protein may play an important role in liver pathogenesis. To elucidate the mechanism of HCV-induced liver pathogenesis, we investigated the histopathological changes of liver in transgenic mice harbouring the NS5A gene. We generated transgenic mice harbouring HCV NS5A gene under the control of hepatitis B virus (HBV) enhancer. Pathological changes were analysed by immunohistochemical staining and western blot analysis. Lipid composition and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in NS5A transgenic mice were analysed. HCV NS5A transgenic mice developed extraordinary steatosis over 6 months old and induced HCC in some mice. NS5A was co-localized with apolipoprotein A-I in fatty hepatocytes. In addition, the extraordinarily high levels of ROS, NF-κB and STAT3 were detected in hepatocytes of NS5A transgenic mice. These data suggest that NS5A, independent of other HCV viral proteins, may play an important role in the development of hepatic pathologies, including steatosis and hepatoceullular carcinoma in transgenic mice. TERT rs2736098 Polymorphism and Cancer Risk: Results of a Meta-analysis
Qi, Hao-Yu,Zou, Peng,Zhao, Lin,Zhu, Jue,Gu, Ai-Hua Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.7
Objective: Several studies have demonstrated associations between the TERT rs2736098 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and susceptibility to cancer development. However, there are conflicting results. A systematic meta-analysis was therefore performed to establish the cancer risk associated with the polymorphism. Methods: In this meta-analysis, a total of 6 case-control studies, including 5,567 cases and 6,191 controls, were included. Crude odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals were used to assess the strength of associations in several genetic models. Results: Our results showed no association reaching the level of statistical significance for overall risk. Interestingly, in the stratified analyses (subdivided by ethnicity), significantly increased risks were found in the Asian subgroup which indicates the TERT rs2736098 polymorphism may have controversial involvement in cancer susceptibility. Conclusions: Overall, this meta-analysis indicates that the TERT rs2736098 polymorphism may have little involvement in cancer susceptibility.

The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Gonocephalum outreyi was determined by using nextgeneration sequencing approach. The full length of this mitogenome is 15,836 bp, which consists of 37 typical metazoan mitochondrial genes with an identical genome organization to ancestral insects. The majority of the protein-coding genes begin with the codon ATN, except for cox1 and cox2 with AAT and AAA, respectively. To elucidate the phylogenetic position of G. outreyi, we used various sequence coding schemes for protein-coding genes and the combined nucleotide sequences of all mitochondrial genes for tree building under the Bayesian and Maximum Likelihood inferences. The phylogenetic results consistently supported G. outreyi as a member of the family Tenebrionidae. The monophyly of both Tenebrionoidea and Tenebrionidae were strongly supported. The Scraptiidae and Melandryidae were recovered to be non-monophyletic in regards to the Osphya. Within Tenebrionidae, the subfamilies Diaperinae and Tenebrioninae were found to be non-monophyletic.
The long non-coding RNA UPAT promotes gastric cancer cell progression via UHRF1
Liu Chaoyong,Hao De,Ai Minghua,Zhang Yan,Li Jie,Xu Chao 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.10
Background: LncRNA ubiquitin-like with PHD and RING finger domains 1 (UHRF1) protein associated transcript (UPAT) regulates the progression of many cancers. However, its role in gastric cancer (GC) is less frequently reported. Objective: In the context of the promoting effect of lncRNA on modulating GC progression, detailed insights into the role and underlying mechanism of UPAT in GC are the foothold in this study. Methods: Overall survival was calculated. The mRNA expressions of UPAT and UHRF1 were measured by qRT-PCR, and the protein expressions of UHRF1, Cyclin D1 and cleaved caspase-3 were determined by western blot. Cell viability, growth, migration and invasion were assessed by CCK-8, colony formation, wound healing and Transwell assays, respectively. Apoptosis rate and cell cycle were assayed by flow cytometry. Results: UPAT was overexpressed in GC tissue and cell lines. Decreased UPAT level was associated with higher overall survival. Down-regulation of UPAT diminished cell proliferation, Cyclin D1 expression, and migration and invasion rates, increased apoptosis rate and cleaved caspase-3 expression, and blocked cell cycle in AGS and NCI-N87 cells. UPAT expression in GC was positively correlated with UHRF1 expression. UHRF1 overexpression offset the inhibitory effects of UPAT down-regulation on cell proliferation, migration, invasion and cell cycle, and partially reversed the positive effect of UPAT down-regulation on apoptosis. Conclusion: UPAT might positively regulate the progression of GC via interacting with UHRF1. The UHRF1/UPAT axis revealed in the present study may provide a promising approach to intervene in the progression of GC.
Triple-Band Scheduling with Millimeter Wave and Terahertz Bands for Wireless Backhaul
Yibing Wang,Hao Wu,Yong Niu,Jianwen Ding,Shiwen Mao,Bo Ai,Zhangdui Zhong,Ning Wang 한국통신학회 2022 Journal of communications and networks Vol.24 No.4
With the explosive growth of mobile traffic demand, densely deployed small cells underlying macrocells have great potential for 5G and beyond wireless networks. In this paper, we consider the problem of supporting traffic flows with diverse QoS requirements by exploiting three high frequency bands, i.e., the 28 GHz band, the E-band, and the Terahertz (THz) band. The cooperation of the three bands is helpful for maximizing the number of flows with their QoS requirements satisfied. To solve the formulated nonlinear integer programming problem, we propose a triple-band scheduling scheme which can select the optimum scheduling band for each flow among three different frequency bands. The proposed scheme also efficiently utilizes the resource to schedule flow transmissions in time slots. Ex- tensive simulations demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed scheme over three baseline schemes with respect to the number of completed flows and the system throughput.

In this study, we used RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) to analyze and compare bulk cell samples from wild-type (WT) dermal mesenchymal stem cells (DMSCs) (n = 3) and Prx II knockout DMSCs (n = 3). The purpose of the study was to elucidate the role of Prx II on allogeneic immune rejection of transplanted DMSCs. The results revealed differential expression of 472 genes (176 up-regulated and 296 down-regulated; p ≤ 0.05) between the PrxII+/+ (WT) and PrxII−/− sample groups. When highly regulated genes were categorized according to the Gene Ontology (GO) molecular function classification and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis, the PrxII−/− samples showed a robust downward trend in allograft rejection. The study identified 43 all immunologically rejected differentially expressed genes, of which 41 showed lower expression in the PrxII−/− vs. PrxII+/+ (WT) samples. These findings suggest that Prx II gene knockout may down-regulate the allograft rejection that occurs during DMSCs transplantation and improve the survival rate of DMSCs in the host. This study provides a new perspective on the clinical treatment of stem cell transplantation.
