Factors Influencing the Investor's Decision Making: The Moderating Role of Locus of Control

KAMRAN, Hafiz Waqas,QAISAR, Abthal,SULTANA, Nayyer,NAWAZ, Muhammad Atif,AHMAD, Hafiz Tanveer Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.12

Investors from the whole world are looking for those stock markets that are less affected by interest rates. Pakistan is a good place to invest and the investors from the whole world are considering Pakistan for future ventures. The current study, therefore, aims to analyze the factors affecting investors' decision making in Pakistan with the interaction effect of locus of control. The primary data are gathered from 300 respondents. Structural equation modelling (SEM-PLS) is used to analyze the interactions among variables. The study finds positive impact of availability and representative biases on investment decision making. The study could not find any moderating role of locus of control. The results imply that decisions made by Pakistani investors are driven by the most easily or currently available information and they trust on the information obtained from family and friends without any authentication and verification. One possible description of insignificant moderation effect of locus of control can be the sample traits used in the study, e.g., personal characteristics, that change from culture to culture. Another description of these findings may be the association between heuristic biases, including availability, representative and psychological biases and decision-making regarding investment is not personality specific.

Performance Characterization of Compression Socks at Ankle Portion under Multiple Mechanical Impacts

        Hafiz Faisal Siddique,Adnan Ahmed Mazari,Antonin Havelka,Zdenek KUS 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.5

The aim of this research is to investigate how performance of compression socks is deteriorated due to expectedinduced wearing mechanical impacts. Wearing mechanical impacts influence the durability parameters i.e. tensile energyloss, extent of pressure deterioration and dimensional deformation. This research is comprised of two parts; 1): Comparisonof unwashed and hand washed cut-strips for tensile energy and dimensional deformation. For tensile energy loss, cut-stripsamples were-interacted to constant rate of loading and un-loading, cyclic-loading upto 15th cycles for ±5 mm extension(considering muscles expansion and relaxation) and were dwelled (stayed) for 3 minutes at 25 %, 50 % and 75 % extensionlevels, simultaneously. As a second part 2); Three levels (1st, 2nd and 3rd) of gradual intensive machine washes wereperformed to quantify the extent of deterioration of compression pressure, worn alternatively on a fixed sized plastic leg, using KIKUHIME pressure measuring device. Dimensional deformation due to hand washing while dimensional recovery;immediately after pressure measurement (after Pr.), and a-day-later after pressure measurement (dL Pr.) was compared andstatistically analyzed. Statistical validation of second part was performed by introducing measures of correlation, p-value(≤ 0.05), R-square values using MINITAB 17 software.

Performance Characterization and Pressure Prediction of Compression Socks

        Hafiz Faisal Siddique,Adnan Ahmed Mazari,Antonin Havelka,Zdenek KUS 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.3

Objective of the current research is to develop the mathematical model for the prediction of compression pressureby incorporating some of new but missing variables; circumferential aspect of leg (Lc) and socks (Sc), true stress (σT), true/logarithm strain (εT), true modulus of elasticity (ET), deformed width (Wf) at b ankle position. Socks samples were purchased, hand washed, donned, marked, sliced to loops and then cut to rectangular strips to obtain force-elongation curve at differentextensions context to practical elongation. Additionally, all samples were evaluated to analyze the influnce of multiplemachinewashes as well as for identification of most influential fabric parameter on compresson pressure, statistically. Standard sized wooden leg (S9=24 cm) attached with pneumatic based sensors (Salzmann MST MK IV) to medial side wasused. Force-extension diagram was obtained using Testometric tensile tester. Mathematical models were developed on thebasis of principle of Laplace’s law. Developed two models were analyzed and comapred with two existing recently developedmodels statitistically using MINTAB 17 software.

      • Singel Agent DAA in HCV PCR Positive Liver Transplant Patients, Experience from a Developing Country

        ( Hafiz Abdul Basit Siddiqui ),( Basit Siddiqui ),( Rabeea Azmat ),( Wasim Jafri ) 대한간학회 2018 춘·추계 학술대회 (KASL) Vol.2018 No.1

Aims: Chronic hepatitis C (CHC) is the leading cause of decompensated liver disease and liver transplant indication in Pakistan, which is the second most prevalent country with a prevalence of 3.5% to 5.2%. Being the seventh most populous country in the world, lacking significantly on medical grounds reflected by only one liver transplant centre for more than 10 million chronically affected liver disease patients. Before the era of directly acting antiviral agents (DAAs) most common problem faced in the post liver transplant period was recurrence of HCV and most of the patients were non responders to interferon therapy well before transplantation of liver graft. Aim of this study is to see the outcomes of single agent DAA in HCV PCR positive liver transplant patients. Methods: This cross sectional analysis was carried out in CHC infected post liver transplant patients with high viremia. The effect of DAAs were noted in the form of eradication of virus and achievement of sustained virological response (SVR). DAAs used, were also recored. Also to note the interaction with immunosuppresants and development of side effects notably derangement of liver function test or failure of graft and anemia. And to note the development of acute kidney injury or any other untoward effect. Results: During study period of 24 months, from January 2015 to December 2016, 51 HCV positive liver transplant patients were enrolled in the study. 26 (52%) out of 51 found to have active viral replication with positive PCR. All 26 received combination of Sofosbuvir (only DAA avaialbe till December 2016 in Pakistan) and Ribavirin. Achievement of viral eradication was 100% so was for SVR. There was no interaction with immunosuppressants. Most commonly reported side effect was fatigue and a feeling of nausea. Kidney and liver function tests remained normal. Contrary to recent data, there was no recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients who recieved liver graft for HCC on background of CHC cirrhosis. Conclusions: Directly acting antiviral therapy has revolutionized outcomes of HCV infected post liver transplant patients in a country lacking modern and advanced health care system. Even the single agent therapy has done wonders for the economically less privileged.

An investigation of the relationship between cutaneous allodynia and kinesiophobia, gastrointestinal system symptom severity, physical activity and disability in individuals with migraine

Hafize Altay,Seyda Toprak Celenay 대한통증학회 2023 The Korean Journal of Pain Vol.36 No.1

Background: To investigate the relationship between cutaneous allodynia (CA) and kinesiophobia, gastrointestinal system (GIS) symptom severity, physical activity, and disability, and to determine whether CA, pain, and disability were influencing factors for kinesiophobia, GIS symptoms, and physical activity in individuals with migraine. Methods: The study included 144 individuals with migraine. CA, kinesiophobia, GIS symptoms, physical activity level, and migraine-related disability were evaluated with the Allodynia Symptom Checklist, the Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale (TKS), the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS), the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-7, and the Migraine Disability Assessment Scale (MIDAS), respectively. Results: The CA severity was only associated with TKS (r = 0.515; P < 0.001), GSRS-total (r = 0.336; P < 0.001), GSRS-abdominal pain (r = 0.323; P < 0.001), GSRS-indigestion (r = 0.257; P = 0.002), GSRS-constipation (r = 0.371; P < 0.001), and MIDAS scores (r = 0.178; P = 0.033). Attack frequency (P = 0.015), attack duration (P = 0.035) and presence of CA (P < 0.001) were risk factors for kinesiophobia. Attack frequency (P = 0.027) and presence of CA (P = 0.004) were risk factors for GIS symptoms. Conclusions: There was a relationship between the CA and kinesiophobia, GIS symptoms, and disability. CA and attack frequency were found to be risk factors for kinesiophobia and GIS symptoms. Migraine patients with CA should be assessed in terms of kinesiophobia, GIS, and disability. Lifestyle changes such as exercise and dietary changes and/or pharmacological treatment options for CA may increase success in migraine management.

Derived Functor Cohomology groups with Yoneda Product

        Hafiz Syed Husain,Mariam Sultana 한국수학교육학회 2021 純粹 및 應用數學 Vol.28 No.2

This work presents an exposition of both the internal structure of derived category of an abelian category D*(A) and its contribution in solving problems, particularly in algebraic geometry. Calculation of some morphisms will be presented between objects in D*(A) as elements in appropriate cohomology groups along with their compositions with the help of Yoneda construction under the assumption that the homological dimension of D*(A) is greater than or equal to 2. These computational settings will then be considered under sheaf cohomological context with a particular case from projective geometry.

Nature of Complex Network of Dengue Epidemic as a Scale-Free Network

        Hafiz Abid Mahmood Malik,Faiza Abid,Nadeem Mahmood,Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin,Asif Malik 대한의료정보학회 2019 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.25 No.3

Objectives: Dengue epidemic is a dynamic and complex phenomenon that has gained considerable attention due to its injurious effects. The focus of this study is to statically analyze the nature of the dengue epidemic network in terms of whether it follows the features of a scale-free network or a random network. Methods: A multifarious network of Aedes aegypti is addressed keeping the viewpoint of a complex system and modelled as a network. The dengue network has been transformed into a one-mode network from a two-mode network by utilizing projection methods. Furthermore, three network features have been analyzed, the power-law, clustering coefficient, and network visualization. In addition, five methods have been applied to calculate the global clustering coefficient. Results: It has been observed that dengue epidemic follows a powerlaw, with the value of its exponent γ = –2.1. The value of the clustering coefficient is high for dengue cases, as weight of links. The minimum method showed the highest value among the methods used to calculate the coefficient. Network visualization showed the main areas. Moreover, the dengue situation did not remain the same throughout the observed period. Conclusions: The results showed that the network topology exhibits the features of a scale-free network instead of a random network. Focal hubs are highlighted and the critical period is found. Outcomes are important for the researchers, health officials, and policy makers who deal with arbovirus epidemic diseases. Zika virus and Chikungunya virus can also be modelled and analyzed in this manner.
