Sclerotinia sclerotiorum fungus has three endoxylanases induced by wheat bran. In the first part, a partial xylanase sequence gene (90 bp) was isolated by PCR corresponding to catalytic domains (β 5 and β 6 strands of this protein). The high homology of this sequence with xylanase of Botryotinia fuckeliana has permitted in the second part to amplify the XYN1 gene. Sequence analysis of DNA and cDNA revealed an ORF of 746 bp interrupted by a 65 bp intron, thus encoding a predicted protein of 226 amino acids. The mature enzyme (20.06 kDa), is coded by 188 amino acid (pI 9.26). XYN1 belongs to G/11 glycosyl hydrolases family with a conserved catalytic domain containing E86 and E178 residues. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that there was no Asn-X-Ser/Thr motif required for N-linked glycosylation in the deduced sequence however, five O-glycosylation sites could intervene in the different folding of xylanses isoforms and in their secretary pathway. The rpoA gene coding for the α-subunit of DNA-dependent RNA polymerase located in the chloroplastic genome of date palm has been characterized from the elite cultivar Deglet Nour by cloning and sequencing of the PCR amplification product. The full length of rpoA-Pd (Phoenix dactylifera)gene was 1014 bp. The comparison in Genbank showed that the rpoA gene has a 100% homology with the Khalas cultivar of date palm and a strong homology with Oil Palm (99%). The deduced protein full length is 337 amino acid corresponding to 38,692 Da polypeptide. It contained an Alpha N-terminal domain (alpha-NTD) between 1 to 233 (aa) and Alpha C-terminal domain (alpha-CTD) between 266 to 337 (aa). Initially, we have compared the sequences of the full-length DNA rpoA gene from Date Palm and Oil palm, 15 mutations have been detected, 4 do not affect amino acid sequences. A multiple alignment of protein sequences of Date Palm and other plants shows 6 mutations specific for palms family and one is specific to monocots species. A multiple alignment of 35 nucleotide sequences from different plant species shows 3 SNPs specific to Date Palm, 6 SNPs specific to Palms family and 6 other to monocot species. The phylogenetic analysis performed in this work shows a strong similarity between Pd-rpoA and rpoA genes from other plant species, but it shows a great divergence with the rpoA of E. coli. To explain whether the separation of the two clades was due to selection pressure. We calculate the ratio Ka/Ks for different species. A synteny analyses of rpoA genes was effected, a high genomic synteny is observed for the ropA in all the species included in this study.

Particulate matter (PM) still poses a significant threat leading to air pollution which is responsible for continued damage to human health and the environment. Particulate matter resulting from non-exhaust emissions are considered as viable a source comes mostly from brake pad wear concept. The scientific challenge of this work is to stimulate a new generation of green friction materials to reduce particle emissions having low-environmental impact. The specificity of braking materials, their effects on the environment and human health are studied. To minimize the levels of air pollution, the use of green friction composites collected from natural elements reducing human diseases is discussed. For this purpose, the novel and high-performance friction composite materials synthesized from vegetable and animal waste used as a raw material are reported. The natural powder and fiber treatments, the optimum formulation and the binder materials related to the green friction composites are reviewed. An overview of environmentally ecofriendly green friction materials embedded by reinforcing phases of natural elements exhibiting excellent mechanical and tribological properties are mentioned. Therefore, scientific and industrial efforts should concentrate on the development of green friction materials to minimize the effect of transport related air pollution.

In this paper, brake pad performance of two organic matrix composites namely, Sample 1 (contains no brass filler) and Sample 2 (contains 1.5% brass filler), is studied based on tribological and squeal noise behavior. In the first stage, a pin-on-disc tribometer is used to evaluate the frictional behavior of the two pads. On the following stage, these pads are tested on squeal noise occurrence using a drag-type brake dynamometer. From the two type of tests, the results show that; (i) brass fillers play a dual role; firstly as reinforcing element of the brake pad providing primary contact sites, and secondly as solid lubricant by contributing to the formation of a layer of granular material providing velocity accommodation between the pad and the disc; (ii) brass fillers contribute to friction force stabilization and smooth sliding behavior; (iii) the presence of small weight quantity of brass filler strongly contributes to squeal occurrences; (iv) there is close correlation between pin-on-disc tribometer and brake dynamometer tests in terms of tribological aspect.

Purpose: Allgrove syndrome, also known as “triple A” syndrome, is characterized by adrenal insufficiency, achalasia, and alacrimia. When neurological signs are also present, the condition is referred to as “4 A” syndrome. Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of three patients with 4 A syndrome confirmed genetically. A complete neurological exam was carried out by an experimented neurologist. Results: Herein, we describe the neurological characteristics often associated with this condition, through the clinical and electrophysiological analysis of three patients. All patients exhibited a mutation in AAAS, the gene coding for ALADIN. While these individuals presented with the classic features of triple-A syndrome, neurological symptoms were not prominent. Conclusion: The neurological manifestations of Allgrove syndrome have historically been overlooked and inadequately explored. Due to the condition’s rarity and substantial phenotypic heterogeneity, only recently have a variety of symptoms been recognized and described.

Strontium (Sr) compounds have become increasingly popular in the field of osteoporosis treatment. However, the quality of new bone after implantation of strontium-containing bioceramics has yet to be investigated. In the present study, the newly formed bone tissue around strontium-doped bioactive glass (BG-Sr) implants was characterized. BG-Sr was implanted in the femoral condyl of ovariectomised rats (OVX). The resected bone was prepared for analysis using several physico-chemical and biological assays such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray, and histomorphometry. BG-Sr biomaterial favored calcium phosphate layer integration on the surface of the glass and offered better bioactivity. Moreover, the histomorphometric analysis demonstrated that BV/TV, N. Ob were significantly higher in BG-Sr treated rats groups than those of BG groups. However, Ob. S/BS, and OV/BV were significantly lower in BG-Sr treated rats groups than those of BG groups. The (Oc.S/BS) was significantly decreased in BG-Sr groups, when compared with that of BG rat groups. On the other hand, the MS/BS had not significantly decreased in the BG-Sr treated rats groups when compared with that of BG groups, however; it was significantly higher when compared with control and OVX groups. These findings suggest that BG-Sr can be used as an inhibitory therapeutic potential of osteoporosis by delivering strontium to stimulate new bone remodeling.

Forearm fractures are common injuries in childhood. Median nerve entrapment is a rare complication of forearm fractures, but several cases have been reported in the literature. This case report discusses the diagnosis and management of median nerve entrapment in a 13-year-old male who presented acutely with a both-bone forearm fracture and numbness in the median nerve distribution. Following the delayed diagnosis, surgical exploration revealed complete nerve entrapment and a nerve graft was performed.
Modeling and computation of the three-roller bending process of steel sheets
Ahmed Ktari,Zied Antar,Nader Haddar,Khaled Elleuch 대한기계학회 2012 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.26 No.1
Sheet metal bending processes are some of the most commonly used industrial manufacturing operations. The development and optimization of these processes are time consuming and costly. Therefore, finite element simulations may aid the design and quality assurance of sheet metal products. In the present study, a commercial finite element package was used to analyze the three-roller bending of a steel sheet. A two-dimensional finite element model of this process was built under the ABAQUS/Explicit environment based on the solution of several key techniques, such as contact boundary condition treatment, material property definition, meshing technique, and so on. Maps with desired curvature radii were established by varying the distance between the two bottom rollers and the position of the upper one. The developed maps made the rolling process easier and less time consuming. An industrial experiment using optimized numerical results was carried out to validate the numerical model. Residual stress and equivalent plastic strain distributions were also studied. The numerical spring back phenomenon was compared with analytical results.
