Dinh Van Tuan,Dang Thi Thuy Ngan,Nguyen Thi Thuy,Hoang Lan,Nguyen Thi Nguyet,Vu Van Thu,Vuong-Pham Hung,Phuong Dinh Tam 한국물리학회 2020 Current Applied Physics Vol.20 No.9
In this study, the effects of the morphological characteristics of MoS2 nanomaterials on the glucose sensing of electrochemical biosensors were explored. Nanostructured MoS2 materials, including nanoparticles (NPs), nanoflowers (NFs), and nanoplatelets (NPLs), were prepared via a simple hydrothermal method. The structure and morphological characteristics of MoS2 nanomaterials were examined through X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. Electrochemical properties were analyzed through cyclic voltammetry. Results showed that the obtained sensitivity was 64, 68.7, and 77.6 μAmM 1 cm 2 for MoS2 NP-, MoS2 NF-, and MoS2 NPL-based biosensors, respectively. The limit of detection (LOD) of all MoS2-based glucose biosensors was 0.081 mM. In addition, the pH, temperature, glucose oxidase (GOx) concentration, reproducibility, specificity, and stability of glucose biosensors with different MoS2 morphologies were also investigated and indicated the oxidation current response of the MoS2 NPL-based glucose biosensor was higher than that of MoS2 NF- and NP-based biosensors.

A facile hydrothermal route was used to synthesize silver nanoparticle (AgNP)-decorated microflower molybdenum disulfide (MoS2-MF) for bio-electrochemical platform fabrication to detect nonenzymatic glucose concentration. The morphologies of the materials were studied by scanning electron microscopy, and their structural characteristics were analyzed by X-ray diffractometry and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The electrochemical characteristics of the AgNPs/MoS2-MF/PtE biosensor were studied by cyclic voltammetry. The obtained data indicated that the developed nonenzymatic glucose sensor has a large linear response between 1.0 and 15.0 mM, a limit of detection of as low as 1.0 mM, and a sensitivity of 46.5 μA nM-1 cm-2. The biosensor also displayed outstanding selectivity, stability, reproducibility, and repeatability. Additionally, the AgNPs/MoS2-MF/ PtE biosensor was utilized to detect glucose concentration in real sample and showed practical application potential for glucose detection.

Objectives: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has increased the workload of healthcare workers (HCWs), impacting their health. This study aimed to assess sleep quality using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and identify factors associated with poor sleep among HCWs in Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 1000 frontline HCWs were recruited from various healthcare facilities in Vietnam between October 2021 and November 2021. Data were collected using a 3-part self-administered questionnaire, which covered demographics, sleep quality, and factors related to poor sleep. Poor sleep quality was defined as a total PSQI score of 5 or higher. Results: Participants' mean age was 33.20±6.81 years (range, 20.0-61.0), and 63.0% were women. The median work experience was 8.54±6.30 years. Approximately 6.3% had chronic comorbidities, such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus. About 59.5% were directly responsible for patient care and treatment, while 7.1% worked in tracing and sampling. A total of 73.8% reported poor sleep quality. Multivariate logistic regression revealed significant associations between poor sleep quality and the presence of chronic comorbidities (odds ratio [OR], 2.34; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.17 to 5.24), being a frontline HCW directly involved in patient care and treatment (OR, 1.59; 95% CI, 1.16 to 2.16), increased working hours (OR, 1.84; 95% CI,1.37 to 2.48), and a higher frequency of encountering critically ill and dying patients (OR, 1.42; 95% CI, 1.03 to 1.95). Conclusions: The high prevalence of poor sleep among HCWs in Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic was similar to that in other countries. Working conditions should be adjusted to improve sleep quality among this population.
BONEcheck: A digital tool for personalized bone health assessment
Dinh Tan Nguyen,Thao P. Ho-Le,Liem Pham,Vinh P. Ho-Van,Tien Dat Hoang,Thach S. Tran,Steve Frost,Tuan V. Nguyen 대한골다공증학회 2023 Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia Vol.9 No.3
Objectives: Osteoporotic fracture is a significant public health burden associated with increased mortality risk and substantial healthcare costs. Accurate and early identification of high-risk individuals and mitigation of their risks is a core part of the treatment and prevention of fractures. Here we introduce a digital tool called 'BONEcheck' for personalized assessment of bone health. Methods: The development of BONEcheck primarily utilized data from the prospective population-based Dubbo Osteoporosis Epidemiology Study and the Danish Nationwide Registry. BONEcheck has 3 modules: input data, risk estimates, and risk context. Input variables include age, gender, prior fracture, fall incidence, bone mineral density (BMD), comorbidities, and genetic variants associated with BMD. Results: Based on the input variables, BONEcheck estimates the probability of any fragility fracture and hip fracture within 5 years, subsequent fracture risk, skeletal age, and time to reach osteoporosis. The probability of fracture is shown in both numeric and human icon array formats. The risk is also contextualized within the framework of treatment and management options on Australian guidelines, with consideration given to the potential fracture risk reduction and survival benefits. Skeletal age was estimated as the sum of chronological age and years of life lost due to a fracture or exposure to risk factors that elevate mortality risk. Conclusions: BONEcheck is an innovative tool that empowers doctors and patients to engage in wellinformed discussions and make decisions based on the patient's risk profile. Public access to BONEcheck is available via https://bonecheck.org and in Apple Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

Spectral and Energy Efficiencies in Full-Duplex Wireless Information and Power Transfer
Nguyen, Van-Dinh,Duong, Trung Q.,Tuan, Hoang Duong,Shin, Oh-Soon,Poor, H. Vincent Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 2017 IEEE Transactions on Communications Vol. No.

A communication system is considered consisting of a full-duplex multiple-antenna base station (BS) and multiple single-antenna downlink users (DLUs) and single-antenna uplink users (ULUs), where the latter need to harvest energy for transmitting information to the BS. The communication is thus divided into two phases. In the first phase, the BS uses all available antennas for conveying information to DLUs and wireless energy to ULUs via information and energy beamforming, respectively. In the second phase, ULUs send their independent information to the BS using their harvested energy while the BS transmits the information to the DLUs. In both the phases, the communication is operated at the same time and over the same frequency band. The aim is to maximize the sum rate and energy efficiency under ULU achievable information throughput constraints by jointly optimizing beamforming and time allocation. The utility functions of interest are nonconcave and the involved constraints are nonconvex, so these problems are computationally troublesome. To address them, path-following algorithms are proposed to arrive at least at local optima. The proposed algorithms iteratively improve the objectives with convergence guaranteed. Simulation results demonstrate that they achieve rapid convergence and outperform conventional solutions.

Joint Fractional Time Allocation and Beamforming for Downlink Multiuser MISO Systems
Nguyen, Van-Dinh,Tuan, Hoang Duong,Duong, Trung Q.,Shin, Oh-Soon,Poor, H. Vincent IEEE 2017 IEEE communications letters Vol.21 No.12

It is well known that the use of traditional transmit beamforming at a base station (BS) to manage interference in serving multiple users is effective only when the number of users is less than the number of transmit antennas at the BS. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) can improve the throughput of users with poorer channel conditions by compromising their own privacy, because other users with better channel conditions can decode the information of users with poorer channel conditions. NOMA still prefers that the number of users is less than the number of antennas at the BS transmitter. This letter resolves such issues by allocating separate fractional time slots for serving users with similar channel conditions. This enables the BS to serve more users within a time unit while the privacy of each user is preserved. The fractional times and beamforming vectors are jointly optimized to maximize the system’s throughput. An efficient path-following algorithm, which invokes a simple convex quadratic program at each iteration, is proposed for the solution of this challenging optimization problem. Numerical results confirm its versatility.
