한국에서 임산균주로부터 분리한 테트라사이클린(Tc) 내성 플라스미드 pKH6의 전체 염기서열을 결정하여 가장 대표적인 Tc 내성 플라스미드인 pT181과 비교하였다. pKH6의 전체 길이는 4439bp로 pT181과 동일하게 나타났으며 염기서열은 7개의 염기에서 차이를 보였다. 전부 다 염기쌍이 치환된 형태로 나타났으며 그 중 3개는 coding 부위에서 일어났다. coding 부위에서 일어난 경우에도 1개는 동일한 아미노산을 coding 하였기 때문에 pT181과 차이가 없었으며 RepC와 Pre 단백질에 있어 각각 1개의 아미노산에서 차이를 나타내었다. The complete nucleotide sequence of pKH6, a tetracycline-resistance (Tc^r) plasmid isolated from multi-drug resistant Staphlococcus aureus SA2, has been determined and compared with that of the staphylococcal Tc^r plasmid pT181. The nucleotide sequences of the two plasmids are in agreement except for 7 nucleotides. All differences are caused by base pair substitutions. Among 6 substitutions, 3 occurred in coding regions. However, only tow base substitutions in coding regions resulted in changes of amino acid sequences in two different ORFs of repC and Pre proteins.
Lactobacillus plantarum CECT 7527, 7528, 7529 혼합물이 고지방식이를 급여한 흰쥐의 비만 및 지질 대사에 미치는 영향

본 연구에서는 고지방식이 투여로 비만 및 고지혈증을 유도한 동물에서 L. plantarum CECT 7527, 7528과 7529 혼합물이 비만 및 고지혈증에 미치는 영향을 조사하고자 하였다. 흰쥐에 8주 동안 고지방식이를 급여하면서 L. plantarum 혼합물을 0.6~2.4×10<SUP>9</SUP> CFU/day를 경구 투여하였고 동물을 희생하여 혈청 및 간조직 내의 지질 함량을 조사하였다. L. plantarum 혼합물 투여에 의해 체중증가량, 간과 부고환지방 무게가 현저히 감소하였다. 또한 비만과 관련 있는 호르몬인 혈청 렙틴의 함량이 L. plantarum 혼합물 투여에 의해 감소하였다. L. plantarum 혼합물 투여가 혈청 중성지방과 HDL-콜레스테롤 함량 및 혈당에는 영향을 미치지 않았으나 혈청 총콜레스테롤 함량 및 LDL-콜레스테롤 함량을 현저히 감소하였다. 이와 더불어 L. plantarum 혼합물 투여가 동맥경화지수와 심혈관위험지수를 유의적으로 감소하였다. 간조직 내의 총 지질 함량, 중성지방 함량 및 총콜레스테롤 함량은 L. plantarum 혼합물 투여에 의해 유의적으로 감소하였다. 이상의 결과는 L. plantarum CECT 7527, 7528과 7529가 혼합된 L. plantarum 혼합물이 체지방 감소 및 고지혈증 개선 효과를 나타냄을 보여준다. 향후 더 많은 연구가 필요하나 본 연구는 L. plantarum 혼합물을 비만 및 고지혈증 개선제로 개발할 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다. In the present study, we examined the effects of a mixture of three strains, Lactobacillus plantarum CECT 7527, 7528, and 7529 (L. plantarum mixture), on body weight and lipid metabolism in Sprague-Dawley rats fed a high-fat diet. Rats were fed a high-fat diet and subjected to oral gavage with vehicle or the L. plantarum mixture (0.6×10<SUP>9</SUP>, 1.2×10<SUP>9</SUP>, 2.4×10<SUP>9</SUP> colony-forming units (CFU)/day/rat, respectively) for 8 weeks. In rats fed a high-fat diet, oral administration of 2.4×10<SUP>9</SUP> CFU/day of the L. plantarum mixture significantly reduced body weight gain as well as weights of liver and epididymal fat. Leptin levels in sera were significantly reduced by oral administration of 2.4×10<SUP>9</SUP> CFU/day of the L. plantarum mixture. The L. plantarum mixture (1.2×10<SUP>9</SUP> or 2.4×10<SUP>9</SUP> CFU/day) also reduced the concentrations of total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol in sera when it administered orally. Further, the L. plantarum mixture significantly reduced the atherogenic index and cardiac risk factor. In addition, oral administration of 2.4×10<SUP>9</SUP> CFU/day of the L. plantarum mixture markedly reduced levels of total lipids, triglycerides, and total cholesterol in the liver. The results of this study indicate that the L. plantarum mixture may exhibit anti-obesity and cholesterol-lowering effects, which suggest that the L. plantarum mixture has the potential to be a probiotic in the management of obesity and hypercholesterolemia.

A Resolution on UIP Puzzle : The Case of Korean won/The United States dollar

This paper draws on an empirical model of Chaboud and Wright (2003) to address the Uncovered Interest Rate Parity (UIP) puzzle, employing a high frequency exchange rate dataset of the U.S. dollar versus the Korean won during the period from 2000 to 2002. This paper develops methods of a short-term time window spanning discrete timing of interest payment in order to concentrates on abating risk premium. There are two major empirical results; firstly quarterly periods and over short windows of high frequency data enhance supporting UIP hypothesis, although the yearly window data are not enough to support it. Secondly, the regression test designed for pre-fixed interest differential has a more positive slope than the one for non-pre-fixed interest differential, indicating the former is more supportive than the latter. The implication of the results is that as the time window spanning discrete timing of interest payment becomes shrunk, the test results tend to support UIP hypothesis, because the holding period of uncovered position is diminished.

<P>A perylene-based reactive mesogen (DAPDI) forming a lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal (LCLC) phase was newly designed and synthesized for the fabrication of macroscopically oriented and patterned thin film polarizer (TFP) on the flexible polymer substrates. The anisotropic optical property and molecular self-assembly of DAPDI were investigated by the combination of microscopic, scattering and spectroscopic techniques. The main driving forces of molecular self-assembly were the face-to-face pi-pi intermolecular interaction among aromatic cores and the nanophase separation between hydrophilic ionic groups and hydrophobic aromatic cores. Degree of polarization for the macroscopically oriented and photopolymerized DAPDI TFP was estimated to be 99.81% at the lambda(max) = 491 nm. After mechanically shearing the DAPDI LCLC aqueous solution on the flexible polymer substrates, we successfully fabricated the patterned DAPDI TFP by etching the unpolymerized regions selectively blocked by a photomask during the photopolymerization process. Chemical and mechanical stabilities were confirmed by the solvent and pencil hardness tests, and its surface morphology was further investigated by optical microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and three-dimensional surface nanoprofiler. The flexible and patterned DAPDI TFP with robust chemical and mechanical stabilities can be a stepping stone for the advanced flexible optoelectronic devices.</P>

This paper presents a watermarking method for copyright protection and illegal copy prevention of mobile contents. The proposed method embeds copyright information and user’s phone number into spatial domain and encryption domain of mobile animation data based on Buyer-Seller watermarking protocol. Furthermore, we insert user’s operation key so that only authorized user can play 3D animation game in mobile device. From experimental results, we verified that the proposed method is capable of copyright protection and illegal copy prevention since the watermark can be well extracted against geometrical attacks.

Oxygen pressure heat-treatment with CO-CO2 gas mixture was introduced to purify the waste oxidized iron in shortblast process. To determine the temperture and oxygen partial pressure, Fe-O phase diagrams was used. single phase FeO, Fe₃O₄and composite phase FeO-Fe₃O₄, Fe-FeO could be obtained sucessfully in the range of 10(-17)∼10(-19) in Po₂at 800℃.
