This paper reports some experimental results on the machining performance of non-ground cross hole type milling inserts. Six kinds of milling inserts were manufactured without using grinding process. Machining experiments were carried out to compare the machining performance of non-ground inserts with that of ground ones. The experimental results indicate that the cutting forces and surface roughnesses of machined surface of both ground and non-ground inserts are comparable.

Metastasis to the skin from the urinary bladder carcinoma are very rare and their incidence is 1 % to 2% of the cutaneous metastasis. A 78-year-old man developed cutaneous metastasis 2 years later after the diagnosis of carcinoma of the bladder had been made. He visited our department with skin colored, soft, tender, subcutaneous nodule on the lower abdomen which had been detected 5 days ago. Histologic examination of the skin lesion showed atypical cells having hyperchromatic and pleomorphic nuclei. Herein we report a case of cutaneous metastasis from carcinoma of the urinary bladder in a 78-year-old man. (Korean J Dermatol 2003:41(1) : 133∼134)
각종 위질환에 있어서의 혈청 gastrin 치에 관한 임상적 연구

The fasting serum gastrin levels were measured by radioimmunoassay in 32 normal healthy subjects without recognized gastrointestinal symptoms and 93 patients with various gastric diseases, who were visited of admitted to National Medical Center from February to June, 1981. The following results were obtained; 1) The fasting mean serum gastrin level in normal subjects was 55.9±26.3 pg/m1, and there was no difference between male and female. 2) The gastrin levels in gastric and duodenal ulcer were 85.0±28.4 and 76.0±43.0 pg/ml respectively, and it's values were elevated as compared with normal subjects. In gastric ulcer, the gastrin level was elevated than that of duodenal ulcer, but no significant difference in each other. 3) The gastrin level in stomach cancer was 89.5±42.2 pg/ml, and it's values were markedly elevated as compared with values in normal subjects. 4) The gastrin level in gastritis was 73.4±37. 4 pg/ml, and it's values were elevated as compared with values in normal subjects. 5) The gastrinl in post-gastrectomy state was 50.3±16.3 pg/ml, and it's values were slightly decreased as compared with values in normal subjects.

<P>Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) has been used as a reagent for a model of systemic inflammatory response. Ribosomal protein S3 (rpS3) is a multi-functional protein that is involved in transcription, metastasis, DNA repair, and apoptosis. In the present study, we examined the changes of rpS3 immunoreactivity in the mouse hippocampus after systemic administration of 1 mg/kg of LPS. From 6 h after LPS treatment, rpS3 immunoreactivity was decreased in pyramidale cells of the hippocampus proper (CA1-CA3 regions) and in granule cells of the dentate gyrus. At this point in time, rpS3 immunoreactivity began to increase in non-pyramidal cells and non-granule cells. From 1 day after LPS treatment, rpS3 immunoreactivity in pyramidal and granule cells was hardly detected; however, strong rpS3 immunoreactivity was shown in non-pyramidal and non-granule cells. Based on double immunofluorescence staining for rpS3/ionized calcium-binding adapter 1 (Iba-1, a marker for microglia) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP, a marker for astrocytes), strong rpS3 immunoreactivity was expressed in Iba-1-immunoreactive microglia, not in GFAP-immunoreactive astrocytes, at 1 and 2 days after LPS treatment. These results indicate that rpS3 immunoreactivity changes only in pyramidal and granule cells, and rpS3 is expressed only in activated microglia after LPS treatment: this may be associated with the neuroinflammatory responses in the brain.</P>

<P>Oligodendrocytes are myelin-forming cells in the central nervous system. Research into the effects of aging on oligodendrocyte protein expression remains limited. The present study aimed to determine the alterations in oligodendrocyte-specific protein (OSP) expression in the gerbil hippocampus at 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 24 months of age with western blot and immunohistochemistry analyses. OSP expression levels in the hippocampus were highest at 6 months of age. OSP immunoreactivity was identified in numerous cell bodies at 1 month, although the number of OSP immunoreactive cells was different according to hippocampal subregion. The number of OSP immunoreactive cells significantly decreased at 2 months and, thereafter, numbers decreased gradually. The detection of OSP immunoreactive fibers was negligible in all layers in the hippocampal subregions until 4 months. OSP immunoreactive fibers were abundant at 6 and 24 months, although the fiber distribution patterns in the CA1-3 areas and dentate gyrus were different. The results demonstrated that OSP expression in the gerbil hippocampus was age-dependent. The detection of OSP immunoreactive cell bodies and fibers was significantly different according to the layers of hippocampal subregions, indicating that myelination may be continuously altered in the hippocampus during normal aging.</P>
원통연삭시 연삭휠의 종류에 따른 연삭 가공특성에 관한 연구

This paper reports some experimental results of cylindrical external grinding using CBN wheels. Many experimental studies for surface grinding have been done, but not for the cylindrical grinding due to the difficulty of grinding force measurement. In this paper a new experimental device has been proposed for the grinding force measurement in cylindrical grinding. The cylindrical grinding experiments were carried out at various grinding conditions with several CBN grinding wheels. The experimental results indicate that the CBN wheels with smaller grains result in the higher grinding forces in both SCM415 and STD11 workpieces. The grinding forces of all wheels were proportional to the infeed speeds and the difference of each wheels was prominent at high infeed speed for SCM415.
